  1. OK my two penn'th again My indy mechanic in an earlier life, was based at Sheerness docks on Sheppey which is a big big import .... port for many marques of cars His job was to professionally touch-up, respray bits/areas of brand new cars that had arrived slightly damaged through knocks, scrapes etc Then the cars went on their merry way to the Dealers who were totally oblivious to this having happened ..... and the end buyers would therefore just never know until maybe, like you now ........... and the dealers quite justifiably knowing nothing of this with any specific car Good luck with it all ........ at 5 years old I'd be going for the local Body Shop if its reputation is good Malc
  2. Gentlemen and ladies I've just copied this straight from the Govt website The final line is very annoying ...... you must seemingly cover or remove your GB sticker Terrible methinks Malc On or after 28 September 2021 You will need to display a UK sticker clearly on the rear of your vehicle if your number plate has any of the following: a GB identifier with the Union flag (also known as the Union Jack) a Euro symbol a national flag of England, Scotland or Wales numbers and letters only - no flag or identifier If your number plate includes the UK identifier with the Union flag (also known as the Union Jack), you do not need a UK sticker. If you’re in Spain, Cyprus or Malta, you must display a UK sticker no matter what is on your number plate. If you have a GB sticker, cover or remove it.
  3. does this car for sale belong to a member of LOC then one wonders ....... otherwise some investigative work to be done by a potential buyer methinks Malc
  4. this does seem the best option methinks ...... thought this is what everyone did unless you had a Classic car with a gleamy silver badge to attach prominently on the boot lid Malc
  5. I have mentioned this before ...... when my indy ACTUALLY TAKES the car for it's MOT ( whilst doing the annual service ), He's there to nudge the Tester into understanding ( and indeed himself understanding the specific Tester's thoughts at that time too ) some of the nuances of the car should the Tester be persuaded to give an Advisory rather than maybe a fail ........ so's at the next MOT it again passes without comment, nor written Advisories hopefully ..... and for that attendance with the Tester I'm happy to pay the full £55 which of course covers my indys extra time there discussing my car with the Tester This has happened to my benefit on a couple of occasions specifically when the UCAs etc which seem quite ok might actually fail .. we know these are irrefutably challenging to even feel they've " gone " on the Ls400 ........ so's he can get them changed soonest whatever Malc
  6. with the last service some 9 years ago tho' ! Malc
  7. can't be that important, not made contact with me Malc
  8. where in East Kent ? My indy is in Margate area BUT I'm not sure he's wanting to take on the mammoth job of changing the Ls400 Starter Motor right now you can pm me if you wish Malc
  9. come come now, it's only 5 years .... nothing in the life of a Ls400 owner .......... anyway, those kids have grown up now Malc
  10. and the auction house is now ......... BCA ... with all the traditional expertise in auctioneering AND I just wonder if BCA had still owned WBAC if BCA would have popped all 3 same cars into the auction together really on 2 days ( but at different locations tho' ) and to my mind, if cashflow wasn't a priority ......... just sold them piecemeal over a time to try to get best value from them ...... each one at a time over say a month or two ... rather than effectively " flooding " the market Just a thought wonder what the sale prices will achieve ? Malc
  11. good photography .. jeez . two Lexii the length of FOUR houses 😌 Malc
  12. well me too, I call my buddies in Australia on their landline phones .. would I want to call it from MY mobile I wonder ..... might that break my bank ..... 2 x 45 min calls a week on average ......... my internet provider, via my landline, actually gives me a freebie International Calling landline programme too .......... I won't be moving to a brand new house then ... my house is actually about 400 years old but full of mod cons etc BUT not everyone else in the world has our First World functionality methinks, especially " Old Buggers " in Oz Malc My mobile is NOT provided by my landline / internet provider
  13. woooooops ..... that can't be me then coz my contributions are often in-valid ...... non-valid ...... of presumptuous validity .......... that's why mine's always the bronzey looking variety Malc
  14. let me mention this oddity .. when discussing with Saga the replacement of the Honda Legend screen ( under the £75 excess claim ) they told me that all their new screens come from Pilkington .. it hadn't occurred to me that they would be possibly inferior tbh ......... the lady at Saga also told me everything about my existing screen ..... tints, sensors within it etc . .... came as a bit of a revelation to me, being a simple soul ....... but as I said, when it arrived at the Fitter, AutoWindscreens at Rochester it was an original stamped, etched Honda windscreen ...... lucky eh ! Malc
  15. Excellent, but don't roll those dice too soon ... just in case you're in that 0.4% and end up hospitalized or worse ............. Malc
  16. well done, a huge achievement for sure Malc
  17. I'm understanding that BCA sold WBAC a little while back to a group of high paying investors .... I could never understand anyone buying WBAC from them coz at the end of the day ..... in a normal environment, BCA are the guys doing just about ALL the wholesale selling and retail auction selling and eventually WBAC aren't going to be able to undermine the BCA expertise in this marketplace OK Cazoo, Cinch etc seem to have a good sales modus at this point in time and indeed the Daily Mail as a significant investor in Cazoo is about to do very nicely indeed from the Cazoo IPO in owning, is it 20% of that business worth maybe a £1bn or so? Methinks BCA will come shining thru' at the close of business, maybe a year or so down the line, as they're the guys with the UK expertise and understand the secondhand car market more than most ........ longer term for BCA methinks, that's where my money would be as an investor BUT OH DEAR !, you can't invest in it, nor the Daily Mail, they're both private companies Malc
  18. How many accountants are unaffected by stress? Just 2% Just picked this up .............. KPMG or DELOITTE or PRICE WATERHOUSE or ERNST YOUNG = " KOITEPRICEY'ERN "....... to be abbreviated at will ......... a KOTPERN pop that into the new English Dictionary maybe ? Malc
  19. maybe that's the " new " standard excess at £115..... gulp ..... lucky it's a very rare event in one's motoring life, well, mine anyway Malc
  20. I have no idea, someone here will tho' quite soon for you ........ BUT would just recommend that your servicing people regularly check them for ease of proper working What I do ( hahaha, have done ) each service time, annually and at the MOT, my indy always without fail checks the callipers for working properly and to date, to my knowledge, I'm still on the originals at 234k miles and 26 years young .... regular proper maintenance seems to be the way with callipers methinks ...... saving a blinding fortune on replacements Malc
  21. double jabbed and still unaware of being a covid carrier really isn't too unusual sadly ..... the jab just protects one individually, hopefully, against serious issues from the disease ..... being double jabbed and a covid carrier and infecting others is very possible and it's those poor souls who are unjabbed and where the double jab isn't enough protection, who could suffer tragic end results Testing is good and is I guess occurring more and more and just tells us that more people than ever are carrying covid .......... test far fewer people and the covid spread could seem tiny ..... it's just figures ..... it's the hospitalisation and death rates that are the worrying factors ..... and that seems to be on it's growth regime again ...... so everyone, just take a great deal of care and if you can be double jabbed then do so, it will help not only you and yours but society at large .......... and when the 3rd booster jab is ready I'll be the first in the Q to get it hopefully Whilst they are all proclaiming air travel is safe, well, not sure I'd be Qing up to get into a metal canister with 500 others for some hours, to then be prised from the metal tube to join more Qs to then go mix with those in a foreign land with heaven knows what protection ........ AND THEN .......... do it all again to return home Ah, I own a Lexus, I must surely be sane Malc
  22. Guys, please don't get too wound up about the possible cessation of the needs at various stages for PCR Testing, self-isolation etc In my business ( as a Travel Agent ) I can sure wish that all is getting a lot lot better BUT reality kicks in sometimes and the world is still awash with not only covid but lots of other 'orrible stuff ... and covid variants .. and spreading I'm just thinking that it's probably " touch and go " with another potential UK lockdown ............. nothing's going to be " normal " for a very very very long time The UK death rate from covid is still tragically high ..... so, please still take great care everyone Malc
  23. 11 out of 10 for common sense Malc
  24. Blimey, was it £75 before with Aviva do you know or did you have summat special to worry about with it all ? Malc
  25. is there a EURO ( yuk ) flag .... or do you mean those white around stars on the blue background thingy now, that should be illegal in the UK as of NOW ...... a good way to raise much needed revenue / fines for the exchequer methinks Malc
