you're absolutely right in thinking this, your are ................... leave it in D and run down a pedestrian or two OR pop it in N and float around a little ....... OCD often comes to us all at some advanced time in our lives ............ so I suggest leave her in D and take out one or two bodies that get a little too close for comfort Malc

of course that's what they do . they simply have to make news ... and create panic with it sooooo unnecessarily we see it at every turn with the media, being totally irresponsible Just look at their coverage of the Kabul Taliban situation causing panic at the gates and people being crushed and dying With the USA planning this peaceful takeover by the Taliban since 2018 and the USA holding ALL the country's funds in the States under US Govt control . the Taliban can't put a foot wrong, or indeed anywhere without US say so ......... press sensationalism at that time caused irresponsible deaths BUT at least they're only causing petrol queues here in the UK at this time ... what's next for the irresponsible press coverage one wonders Malc

Two more contemptuous offerings yesterday ....... a 70 plate white Seat wanted to zoom past me along a poor country lane A road outside Canterbury ..... me doing about 60'ish and he thinking I was a slowcoach and him doing at least 70+ methinks along this otherwise quite beautiful bendy, windy country road with amazingly poor visibility if you're overtaking and there's another nutter chasing towards you from the opposite direction with equally poor visibility Jeez I don't know, obviously I let him go past to save on possible carnage And another red 64 plate Alfa Romeo in heavy'ish traffic on the A28 dual carriageway from Canterbury towards the M2 junction, later in the day on the way home He decided I wasn't to be in front of him in both lanes full of fast moving cars so he decided to overtake me on the inside and then pull in front of me as he was fast approaching the rear bumper of the car immediately in front of him. Clearly I was then playing cat and mouse with him but did relent and allow him in front of me to save the carnage again of him piling into both me and the car in front of him ... Why oh why do these mad drivers persist in thinking a Ls400 is a pile of old Cr-p that shouldn't be out for the day with modern motors Sorry, rant over ... and the stupid lines of cars queuing for fuel and blocking so many roads trying to turn into an already over full garage forecourt Rant really Over now😵 Malc

Ben ......... can you contact the Lexus Dealer that is said to have undertaken the repair ? If not then the whole sale issue must be suspect could this be one of the three that were recently auctioned by BAC and there's a relevant post here somewhere too ..... they were RC-Fs sold ? Malc -
Ok, over the past couple of weeks whilst driving the Ls400, N reg 1995 .......... I've been treated with respect for it's age ............and contempt for that too Let me explain ..... utmost Courtesy and Respect by other drivers, including truck drivers, happily giving way to my revered ancient steed ..... 26 years young next month ..... afraid to get too close in case there's some scraping or other damage caused methinks ........ notably experience that when I'm out with my nephew, him driving my 1932 Triumph Southern Cross Sports Tourer which he just throws around the country lanes around Newmarket ( where they both live ) and I'm guessing other drivers, often in very expensive cars, just keeping a wary distance ....... just in case they do some really expensive damage to such an ancient sports car ............. likewise now to our ancient steeds, Ls400s too maybe AND the Contempt issue ...... almost every day now, drivers of quite ordinary cars ,vans and lorries, just treating me like an " old banger " with no get-up-and-go and probably not likely to even reach the miserly speed limit ............. trying to push me aside while they go chasing around, cutting me up, trying to edge me into the slow lane etc I sometimes have to show them a clean pair of heels and just do manoeuvres that are in keeping with this 4ltr V8 "wolf in sheep's clothing " and give them the surprise of their driving lives ( maybe ) Do you other Ls400 drivers find this too ? ........... or is it just my ( aged ) mindset and maybe where I live in Kent Malc

that's not DelBoy next to you in that yellow thingy is it Malc

I'm envying you HUGELY right now Malc

this one has had some rather " odd " MOT Advisories for such a low mileage car ........ but there we are, it looks a nice car and with original from factory DHP built then methinks it's possibly quite a rare beast ... but I'd want it back to original DHP tho' and at no extra cost .... at that high price ! Malc
-
but you might be lucky and find the windscreen you get will be Lexus etched and original whatever Good luck Malc

Oh my, I'm quite envious of your holidaying by car again, still during covid ...... did you have any apprehensions about it all ? I'm beginning to remember my trip a few years back thru' France, the Jura and Swissieland, Mont Blanc tunnel thru' to Italy and totally around there and up into the Dolomites, around and back thru' France etc and home .... 4/5 weeks and 4/5000 miles ......... much of that top to toe and back again in Italy Amazing memories of it all ... quite hard driving but oh wot an adventure ! ( age mid 60's then and the Ls400 never puts a foot wrong really ) BRILLIANT Malc

hush hush ????

don't dismiss the Ls400 especially, there are a few good one's around to buy right now ...... far less complexity and stuff to fail ........ supreme comfort and reliability too ...... a few age related niggles that can be very economically sorted, unlike the others that can be horribly costly to sort .............. I'm a little biased I guess, only had the Ls400s for the past 21+ years and qtr million miles driving Best wishes whatever you decide to buy, they will all offer you superb driving in all conditions ....... Ls400 Road Tax is amazingly cheap now too by comparison Malc -
Oh my, then why on earth didn't you buy yourself a brilliant ( now old'ish mind you ) Ls400 ......... purring 4ltr V8 with 0 - 60 in 6.9 secs and too high a top speed to worry about Nothing sporty about it at all, just a PWR kick down when you need to burn the pants off Boy Racers at the lights and supreme floating along comfort at any ..... or even motorway speeds ..... and with supreme reliability and security and saved yourself the best part of £30k ........... or maybe you need all those fandangled digi bits and pieces to play with Good luck with your new machine whatever Malc
-
you should have bought a half dozen of the Takumi model Possibly better than cash sitting in the bank earning 0.01% or summat like that ............... and sold them off individually at a premium in this current market maybe Malc

love the poppy-up headlights especially Malc

maybe I'm old fashioned but it p***** me off a little when people can't be bothered to follow through and update on their Posts, especially when asked Just seems a lack of modern day courtesy methinks Malc

Maybe in this instance ..... you will never know BUT what I do know is that I have ordered, in the past, UCAs for my Ls400 from Amayama ( not RockAuto but similar credibility ) and these have been Toyota stamped on the body of the items and price was ( each ) say £120 but with carriage, Customs Duty and VAT and a small Royal Mail paperwork handling charge worked out at about £240 WHEREAS the UK Lexus supplied part was quoted at £500 or thereabouts Just think it's good to buy from RockAuto and Amayama where one can and with some great degree of confidence AND delivery times have always been acceptable Just my personal experience with several separate shipments over the years Malc
