  1. the Classic Car websites usually have examples for sale i think ! Malc
  2. I don't know it's name but my nephew keeps my 1932 Triumph in a green fabric type, look-a-like small garage style, cover that doesn't touch the car at all and enuf space above and around to keep spare engine, his motorbike too under the same cover I think it might have cost him about £600 but I'm not sure on that Might be of help to you if you had the space Malc
  3. I'm pretty sure that by the weekend there'll be zero Qs at the pumps and petrol stations brimming with fuel which they'll not be selling out of for many many days ............... I can then refill our cars at leisure, fill to the brim as usual of course .......... just had to re-organise my days recently to just stop at home and not go out and about shopping, lunching and whatever else we oldies do when we have the time ......... catching-up on some household stuff instead and NOT stressing about refuelling The world's short of HGV drivers NOT fuel .......... and the HGV driver shortage will somehow resolve itself I'm sure .. it's usually money that solves a problem like this ...... pay 'em right, conditions too, and there will soon be a surplus of 'em no doubt ........ it's private industry that's not paying them right, NOT the Govt. fault that one eh ! Malc
  4. generally about 10 mins from pulling alongside the pump to pulling away ... assuming it's a " pay at pump " one UNLESS you're one of the many the RAC are reporting as so infrequently visiting a petrol station they are mis-fuelling ...... putting in diesel instead of petrol and vice versa .......... and clogging the escape routes from the petrol station BUT let me now explain my simple conspiracy theory if anyone's reading Rishi Sunak has a big big hole to fill .. so Govt creates a fuel panic and woweee ... suddenly, all that 80% of pump price in cash / cards gets paid to the Exchequer anytime quite soon ....... bumper bumper Fuel Duty arrives at the Exchequer and NI people and HMRC are so pleased at the results, our Income Tax rate can come down by next April Good in theory eh ! Seriously tho', the Govts in no rush to stop people spending all their ££££ on fuel stocks in their little used cars etc and the cashflow to the refineries and shippers must be good too ...... big sudden increase in GDP no doubt Malc
  5. all " cats " should be chipped ........... see the vet rather than your Lexus dealer tho Malc
  6. and I've also read on here that Lexus deem " life " to be the termination of the total warranty extension period ......... 100k miles is it and whatever age limit too .... 10 years maybe ? someone will pick me up on these and know the proper limits I'm sure Malc
  7. c'mon now John ........ have you never experienced the utter thrill of a 4ltr V8 Ls400 being " floored " ..... but only in exceptional chasing the pants off Boy Racers at the lights syndrome of course .... it's a wonderful remarkable experience knowing one's in charge of immeasurable POWER Malc BUT I doubt many do it for sure, we are by the most part ( Ls400 owners ) a group of gentle power using giants not accustomed to showing-off whatever
  8. your inventiveness is staggeringly simple and amazing to behold ............. and saves at least 37p on buying one from China and/or the hefty truth police fine you may get on your journey home thru' UK motorist friendly gendarmes land 😷 Malc
  9. don't use words like " discombobulating " we're only simple humans with limited vocabulary ........ sounds more complex than some Latin phrases I occasionally use on here btw ......... welcome Marianne Malc
  10. Gentlemen, Dublet and John too Politics and Brexit should have no significant place on this Car Forum methinks ........ this is a generally friendly and happy discussion place ....... and Fuel is the main issue right now and HGV / tanker drivers seem to be in some short supply notwithstanding the UK Govt figures tell us that we are seemingly " short " of 100,000 drivers to top up the 300, 000 active we now have BUT no one, apart from the Govt, ever mentions the further fully qualified 300,000 HGV drivers in the UK that have decided not to be active ...... this is surely the prime conundrum to be overcome methinks dismiss the following too if you wish ....... The Troubles are sometimes on my mind, not least when I had a glorious month touring the island of Ireland back in September 2018 ......... 4/5000 miles mostly glorious, well in the Eire bit of it .... couldn't understand the ungraciousness toward me, an Englishman with a English regd Ls400 in NI ..... certainly felt very very uncomfortable especially visiting Londonderry and the Troubles graffiti and the fearmongering appearance towards life and me ... t'was a little scary to say the least ....... one night only in NI was enough to scare the pants off me ....... So enuf of the Troubles ... I'm sure they ain't over yet coz youth never seems to learn much of the good stuff from life's experiences of their elders sadly .............. and vice versa methinks too ..... that's probably one of the main reasons the British public voted of their own freewill to EXIT ...... whatever the outcomes in store ................ BUT fuel is the issue of the day and let's hope and pray the " fuel storers " amongst the car using public don't go up in heaps of noxious inflammatory cloud anytime soon ....... by the way, reading just now that much of the Q'ing at the pumps is caused by people, so unused to filling their cars, putting in diesel instead of petrol and vice versa ..... Cest le vie ........... bring on the champagne, prosecco, oh, and sparkling English wines too I say Malc
  11. what a wonderful trip you must be having ..... well done, lucky you having the courage to be amongst the covid vines and of course free from the dreaded ...... looks quite spectacular Malc
  12. coz he's a Lexus Dealer and not a sensible real-life mechanic .... as above, take it to a reputable independent and see the world unfold with hopefully small cost outcomes Malc
  13. it's not contagious thankfully ... OCD that is ! .......... or is it Malc
  14. Aha ....... in olden times, when I was a lad ............ the whole range of cat food was simply leftovers from the table plus the rare visit to the fishmongers for a " treat " for the cat ....... THEN, I remember it clearly ..... tins of Kit-E-Kat were sold .......... a blue tin if I remember NOW let's just put all this nonsense into perspective ..... it's people's ridiculous aspirations for more and more and more of everything ... and sadly our cats aspirations too .. gourmet this, gourmet that ....... noses turned up at the " wrong " variety etc etc Greater liaison with the fisheries of Norway and Iceland methinks to ensure our pussies are well nourished .......... sprats and mackerel and whatever is in season...... likewise with petrol ... to only go where enough petrol / fuel that's available will take you ......... Mr Spock please take note ..... Common / Uncommon Market / ECSC / EC or whatever it might have been called We're where we are and just accept it all please HGV drivers do please return to the UK on £50k a year and leave your own countries in the lurch ......... ( likewise your Nurses and Doctors too no doubt ) you know it all makes sense ...... all our pussies NEED all those aspirational gourmet foodstuffs ...... life's just got too complicated methinks Drop us back 40 years and all might be well in the world of consumerism etc ....... too many HGV drivers and redundancy could loom and all that pain Malc
  15. or maybe closer to home .... a quick glance in the mirror Malc
  16. ........ I don't see anyone in the 4ltr V8 category being possessed over mpg ................ is this a little OCD ............ spending many 10s of £000's to achieve a miserly fuel cost saving over the life of that initial capital spend perhaps BUT I certainly do appreciate your potentially saving the planet on a daily basis by reducing hugely your fossil fuel usage Thank you Malc
  17. thought you might have been talking about Gibraltar for one moment too Malc
  18. and I would urge all those thinking of getting a cat to do so with some skill and aplomb and find one thru' a great charitable organisation such as the Cats Protection Society .... you will have a local branch .... who can probably readily supply you for re-homing, with a fully vaccinated and health checked model that will then be able to keep all your cat averse vermin at bay and add to your beautiful cat, sorry, car looks at home ............... and save you a fortune in nibbled cables etc .......... a plea ........ please don't get a cat from adverts or whatever, any cat you do get will really need to be fully vetted, being health checked, vaccinated etc Thank you Malc
  19. c'mon ...... next enthralling instalment please ! Malc
  20. I might go out Thursday or Friday to find some E5 ........ and Top Up .........after making 3 trips beforehand to the swimming pool for my weekly exercise regime ........... preparing for a road trip to relations on Sunday for a 1st birthday celebration ........ think the E5 will be available by then at my local Morrisons ! If not then I'll try again Saturday ................ how much fuel do these " hoarders " need to get through till Christmas one wonders 😷 Malc
  21. OMG I'm the first Malc
  22. tell that to my 4 cats where carnage sometimes prevails ! Malc
  23. ......... and hopefully by this Thursday all those empty petrol stations will be refuelled and not sell a single drop hardly for a month coz all those mumpties that visit so infrequently won't be around worrying us all ................. see. they even misspell the word "mumptie" having their own special pumps Malc
  24. is this deja vu ? I'm sure quite recently, well over the past few months, someone had a similar problem with ridiculous likely costs and I never did see the final outcome I think then I suggested maybe find out about 3D printing one ! Malc
  25. I've just logged back to this and after a while it seems ADMIN maybe the poll should be re-set ?? Why I'm saying is coz I've noticed a few entries here are for people I used to view posts from who haven't been on since 2015 .............. vide: Pepe wot do you think ?? Malc
