Adam hi, good morning Are you using this car as a daily driver ? or has it been laid up thru' the covid time and you're just bringing her back into regular use ? Reason I ask is that after mine was effectively left for a long long time doing almost nothing I too had some very strange coolant level problems .......... when she got back into daily use mode Malc

David ....... that's amazing the main Dealer didn't be " honest " up-front ........ all these buy now and put your trust in them, Cazoo etc .. delivered to your door etc, sight unseen at purchase ...... got to be so so careful eh ! wonder what their rejection rates are ?? Hope your search proves fruitful......... good luck Malc

absolutely no problem at all experienced now, here in my part of Kent Sittingbourne, Sheppey, Gillingham thru' to Faversham and beyond ( hopefully ) Driven onto a vacant pump on each of 4 ? occasions now with both cars ...... giving us the ability to get out and about pretty much as normal ................. Hope other motorists here are having the same ok experience as we are ..... however driving round and about it is clear some of the many petrol stations are closed and / or out of a particular type .... seems to be diesel signs mainly where it's missing But we did get down to " fumes " stage almost before we refilled having decided never to ever join a Q Best wishes one and all .. fingers xd this silly situation resolves soonest Malc

certainly reduced my mileage these past few weeks relying on the existing tankfull to get me through BUT now all is well on the refuelling front in my neck of the woods .... Sheppey in Kent Filled up a couple of times now and using her as before thankfully Its a 1995 Ls400 with 234k miles .. only ever used standard unleaded 95 octane until it became E10 95 and a few fill-ups on that these past couple of months and now on advice from this forum I'm only using E5 unleaded and that seems to vary between 97 or 99 octane Too early to worry about mpg ........... not that I ever did much anyway ............ kickdown is still brilliant in PWR mode ....... not noticed any difference there for sure ...... good 'ol 4ltr V8 eh Malc
-
hahahahaha, that seems amazingly good value to me ...... when I travel around, usually solo and in the Ls400, driving about 4/5k miles in 4 or 5 weeks I generally spend about £4k on the holiday with ferries etc It ain't cheap for sure and I rarely eat posh or stay anywhere expensive and drink little tbh ...... just European travel is sooooo amazingly wonderful given the time, weather and enuf financial resources not to stress about it all Adventures abound and just going off-piste wherever the fancy takes me, often well-off any pre-planned route for sure ..... and I don't think I ever pre-book accommodation, just stopping where the fancy takes me She, her indoors, certainly won't ever come with me for longer than a fortnight anywhere ....... that's why we used to cruise a little too but with limited time frames and on smallish boats, Fred Olsen and suchlike Those big P&O monsters turn me right-off My Ls400 is a good and loyal friend, honest and comfy, reliable and totally trustworthy ..... just have to make sure I avoid any snow and ice and hunt the petrol stations now selling E5 ...... that's going to be a challenge methinks Switzerland is magnificent and I am lucky to have a buddy ( ex banker too who worked for me at sometime ) who lived in Bern and now lives in Singapore ............... flying in to see him and his family was always brilliant AND the car trips to see him in my first Ls400 Mk1 and my then Vauxhall Carlton, back in the day .... ah memories I MUST do some planning for my next adventure into Switzerland and Italy methinks .... but I'm not sure I'm venturing anywhere abroad whilst all this Covid Crap is a threat ....... let's see Itchy feet here for sure AND it's all your fault Steve Malc

Steve ......... absolutely well written and fun to read .. glorious piccys along the way ...... maybe, just maybe next spring / early summer I'll be able to physically leap into action and go-get some beautiful continental travel which your reports have left me drooling over ....... I so so need to get back to some wonderful exciting adventurous travel again in my sturdy steed ....... Swissieland beckons for sure together with northern Italy, but ex snow and ice tho' in my Ls400 Malc Just got to move it all around my Oncology Review dates though

Dave hi ... I have no notion to the answer to your question other than to simply observe that there are quite a few of the 2018 era for sale with tiny mileages similar to yours ......... and I ask the simple Q, why on earth is this the case, why have so many for sale, such low miles on them ......... is there a fundamental flaw only seen when you're the owner and driving the car .... or have they all just come off their lease contracts etc And only 50% depreciation at 3 now approaching 4 years of age seems a little low to me tbh with this level of model and marque generally Just my simple observations Good luck with your well considered purchase to be Malc

ME .... Offside and Nearside slightly damaged / cracking and definitely perishing ......... and I did look in the mirror too this morning just to confirm ........ not quite an MOT failure yet tho' ......... it comes to us all, even our tyres ............. outcome ... definitely needs more use ................. now where's the wife Malc well done on the MOT tho' .... how many miles between this and the last ?
-
what's the likely duration remaining of your adventure ?...... Or maybe you're permanently on holiday mode ! Malc
-
Mike you'll be fine .......... wake up every morning and get the best from each day ..... you can do no more than that Best wishes The NHS will give you the very best outcomes, you can rest assured whatever the end results show ..... just pray it's all fine and dandy and you can start ballroom dancing or whatever it is you might want to have a go at sometime soon Malc

and quite simply it is these guys and gals, indirectly as bosses of these companies, who are totally responsible for the HGV driver debacle we have right now it's simply HGV drivers wages and conditions of employment that are keeping this country in limbo right now with a lack of HGV drivers Have you understood this dear readers ?? ... it's HGV drivers wages and terms and conditions, as in any employee situation, that is keeping HGV drivers away in their droves Absolutely nothing to do with the Govt or politics .. simply the employment free market that has cocked-up ...... the responsibility of those companies running businesses employing HGV drivers and those businesses, supermarkets and the like .... say Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury and Morrisons .. that are driving consumer prices down down down and probably wreaking havoc with wages on the shop-floor of suppliers ........... including their HGV drivers we have never yet seen the Govt bringing in the Armed Forces to bail out private and public enterprise shortcomings ............ yes for sure to aid the Emergency Services in delivering strategic needs including pandemic hospitals and the like BUT never yet to bail out the shortcomings of private enterprise .................. yes, blame the Boards of Directors of companies for failing to deliver on necessary wages and conditions for specific sectors of their employees ...... in this case HGV drivers Heaven forfend that the Govt gets involved in running private and public companies day to day essentials to overcome those companies shortcomings Malc

well, I think it's quite a thing of beauty ......... wouldn't mind having one for sure Malc -
chatting with my plumber yesterday he was saying that larger vehicles, builders vans and the like, whilst normally just running on a £60 refill are now topping-up AND that means a £190 refill at the pumps Maybe that's where a big extra volume of the supplies have been going in single " hits " and depleting the " norm " I refuse to Q . hoping I have enuf to see me thru till the Qs really have vanished in a day or few Malc

I really can't imagine that any harm will ensue from the rare and occasional refuelling with E10 The super unleaded my way starts at E5 and 97 octane in the green pump to Esso E5 super unleaded 99+ octane in the red pump and many years ago touring Italy in this same Ls400 I found myself refuelling with which seemed like a novelty E10 specified green unleaded fuel .. and that never seemed to do my car any harm for the few 000 miles on that trip ( now at 234k miles and happy ) I'd be surprised if your car will come to harm over this interlude Malc
-
c'mon now, you've been filling up with E10 these past few weeks whatever .... I noticed the green pumps were emblazoned stating it was E10 many weeks ago It's only very recently that we've had the knowledge to be concerned that we should maybe be using E5 I'm likewise too ............. hunting out the E5 sometime soon BUT if not I feel ok topping up with the occasional E10 Malc
-
I usually just refill when the orange light appears on the fuel gauge ..... there's often about 100 miles left ........... I'm reckoning eeking it out I've still got 150 miles left in her ...... there's no way I'm wanting to join a Q for anything anywhere at any time ...... let alone petrol Q'ing ........, saving on the card useage too right now .... maybe this imaginary fuel shortage is making at least me think how better I can use these fossil supplies in a better more useful manner ......... not visiting here there and everywhere at a whim, having brunch, lunch, coffees out and about ......... it's probably saving me a small ( very small ) fortune Malc
-
but wot's going to 'appen when that electric shortfall kicks in coz the French power cable went pop over here somewhere the other day taking out 50% of the gracious benefaction of the French Power Station people to grateful GB ( or is it UK ) until next spring ........... metered homes with EV charging might just be " cut off " at a stroke oh dear Malc
-
heaven forbid we've again reached that time when big engined cars are going out of favour I remember 20+ years ago that's how I began my life's driving affair with my first Ls400 ..... stuck on our forecourt for sale, petrol crisis and no-bugger in the world wanted a gaz-guzzler anymore .......... well until that all changed again ................ best car in the world to me for sure Can't see your pricing is at all out of order tho' ............ at this stage Best wishes with the sale Malc
-
I'm thinking a petrol station with no fuel would be closed and heaven forbid .. no queues either ..... there's no fuel to Q for maybe ! Malc
-
ho hum .......... never thought I'd be singing the praises of the EV saving our petrol tonight ... 14 y/olds birthday party being brought to us, well, local eatery, by the parents in their EV ........ rather than us all traipsing along a 60 mile round trip to our favourite Chinese restaurant in Canterbury ........... we're saving that for end of next week if the fuel situation normalises by then and I can get petrol without Q'ing Malc
