  1. Fripp hi .. I can only speak from what I've read on this Forum over some years about Air Suspension ............... my ancient Ls400 is conventional and I'm very happy that way .... wild horses wouldn't drag me into owning a car with air suspension liabilities ... whatever the marque Summary is .......... coz it's a long and possibly complex story methinks ........... the air stuff fails, generally one corner at a time and £1k a pop ........... there's other bits too associated with each corner that fail or require attention from time to time ...... and Lexus Warranty stuff runs out at 10 years and / 100k miles if sooner with the Lexus expectation that's the life of the air suspension components If you love the car and happy with this then fine .............. alternative more old fashioned but conventional suspension stuff can be changed over very often and that too requires repair replacement too from time to time BUT won't necessarily spectacularly fail in an instant and leave you high ( or low ) and stuck somewhere Hope this helps ? I'm sure someone will come along with a more rational and reasoned argument with direct experience of all this with their own car Best wishes with whatever you decide to do Malc methinks you've opened a can of worms
  2. the issue I had buying, for my now ancient Ls400, my previous blades from Toyota was I'm sure they were very old stock and had been affected by time in storage.... . they lasted just a year whereas previous blades had lasted several and maybe 40k miles and were well worthwhile the high OEM prices I paid I now just replace annually with ordinary cost and type blades and only expect a 12 month usage and not being disappointed It's not good that yours, Richard, aren't running smoothly tho' I'd be fed up with that for sure Malc
  3. Paul, absolutely no problem with that at all .......... I would do so too for sure All I'm trying to determine is a little more about all this, it's intriguing for sure ... just settling the mileage issue would be good to know ... this garage selling an " upmarket " car with a genuine low mileage is fine BUT now looking at the website on their Autotrader advert it seems to be a Milk Float Selling business with a different phone number ! There's sure summat strange going on with all this and looking like there's some skulduggery somewhere Being honest and upfront for an established garage business is usually a " given " these days with Trading Standards etc ... otherwise it falls into the category and trading ethos of Dudley Man Malc
  4. then I think this was the one with a stellar mileage etc and sold as such coz the vendor was open about it and with the change of dash etc ................ and now potentially being " hidden " by the current seller ..... maybe trying it on or potentially I suppose FRAUD ....... our fears need to be diminished please Can Mods etc bring that original post back for us to at least have our enquiring minds satiated please ?? Thank you I hope I'm totally wrong and barking up the wrong tree BUT if we're worried about Dudley Man, a known criminal " trying it on " then this should be enabled for this doubt to be put to rest please Malc
  5. but all that glitters is not gold ! rare for any car to be such an investment, hopefully the Mk3 Ls is the exception ........ but I doubt it ......... and those low miles on this one, well, I'm thinking the story is a little ( or a lot ) deeper tbh Doubtless all will emerge from other readers here in due course Malc
  6. OK so mine passed the MOT again this week with 235k miles at 26 years young ...... and the annual servicing Report of no discernible rust apart from what's seen on the offside wheel arch ( sad I know ! ) No known issues likely to emerge, having checked all the usual stuff ... apart from the exhaust downpipe end will be beyond repair/welding next year as there's nowt left for him to weld onto after this year's sortie ..... to prevent the Emissions failing the MOT The rest of the exhaust, cats, sensors all seem in fine fettle ( he did remove the other rear side heat shield that was loose and hanging, like he did the other side a few years ago now ) ....... and this DOWNPIPE issue he recommends sending me to eurosportexhaust.co.uk in Maidstone to re-make the downpipe section and to fix and sort out for next years MOT time Has anybody here any reports of these Maidstone people ?? ..... it's seemingly my " local " likely place to go to Thanks everyone Malc
  7. And I still think EBay should feel the UK Govt tentacles stretching these days and get their act together with known criminals ( Dudley Man ) advertising in breach of "standards" ...... and being Regulated by Govt as seems to be happening now with Google and FaceBook etc And yes I do have some experience of big corporate Governance stuff ( a past employee at NatWest ) and know how CRAP they can be and I doubt they are the exception in UK or global Big Ticket businesses Malc
  8. wish I could remember more about it ! . that's why I checked the MOT stuff on this one before then ....... cest le vie .. wonder what the original postings were all about ? Be interesting to see who, what, why and where these Ls cars are being offered for what to my simple mind is " silly money " Ah, maybe .. is this the one where the speedo was replaced and that's why the current mileage looks so low ? Malc
  9. probably almost as legal as Dudley Man pretending to be a private seller Malc
  10. don't be silly now .. everyone knows this guy will never get to see any complaints . he probably employs a staff of 50 PAs to intercept everything and " kill it " Malc
  11. bit odd with the first UK MOT in 2020 when it failed ! BUT I do recall, a while back I guess, checking this regn MOT stuff too Looks a nice car but I'd be wanting to know more of it's history and bills etc especially with the 5+ owners the seller specifies Nice car and if it fetches this money I'll export mine, cut back the miles and re-sell her for £15k on re-import from the IOM with no back-up history I jest of course Malc
  12. Well, me too ... passed it's MOT again today with no Advisories mentioned ........ yet to see the full extent of the minor annual service etc ...... ££242 all-up incl the MOT just a few 000's miles between recent years MOTs sadly, due to covid, lockdowns etc BUT hoping for a more " back to normal " 10/12/15k miles a year travelling here and there, all over wherever she will take me eh ! 13. I have no idea if he's being illegal or not BUT with all the latest UK Govt and Govt Agencies taking more scrupulous attention to detail with Google, FaceBook, yahoo etc it really is about time Ebay came under the same regime of Governance to protect the consumer at source methinks Malc
  14. can you tell me more about this please ............ mine is getting that way too thanks Malc
  15. wot might that role be ?? Malc
  16. this specific car does for sure . the MOT history looks great BUT hey, why's she hardly been used these past years??? AND you'd be dealing with what seems to be an unscrupulous TRADER denying his legal obligations at the outset Who holds EBay to account for continuing this stuff with this guy ??? Malc
  17. only ever used " normal " fuel from mainly supermarket stations .......... 20+ years later and probably 250k miles, can't say I've ever noticed any issues driving the Ls400s I've owned nor indeed any other of my cars from time to time, before, nor during this time Now using E5 coz that's what they say, you guys etc, that I should be using in my ancient steed at this time Morrison and Tesco have it ok ... E5 which Octane is 97 in M's and 99 in Tesco Sainsbury and Asda don't seem to in the few petrol stations I've visited these past couple of months ..... maybe they just aren't pampering to us needy oldies driving our ancient 4ltr limos Malc My local Tesco is still selling fuel at what now seems ridiculously low prices E10 140.9 ( for the Honda legend ) and E5 at 148.9 for my Ls400
  18. and he says it's a Celsior Crown too .... oddball for sure, this chap I mean .... and how can he simply LIE ABOUT his effective trade status, no warranty etc stuff ...... and EBAY continue to allow this to pervade ....... is there anyone policing EBay at all ? Malc
  19. Stuart ........... 110% effort there then, well done AND of course you'll be keeping the Ls Malc
  20. just hearing that Antiques are the greenest of green for furniture etc and not replacing with new stuff is the very best carbon reducing footprint way to go so let's hear it from Greta and gang that to scrap our cars and replace with HUGE carbon footprint new vehicles is the way to go then if she dare ! Greta to confirm to us / the world, please, that the complete build, from mining product, transporting it to factory etc , future running, then finally scrapping of EVs is actually of more benefit to the planet Carbonwise and future generations than keeping our delightful Lss' alive and well .............. please clarify and confirm ....... whomsoever you Carbonsavvy savers might be OR is it simply that the car has to " GO " Malc
  21. all set-up for another 25 years then Malc mine's in tomorrow for it's annual service and MOT all on Wednesday . I'll report back on progress I've asked him specifically to check for your issue . he said he's only ever known it twice in his experience
  22. I think with BP having a fuel supplied estate of @ 1200 petrol stations around the UK ......... and with ( when ) the north of England, BP new Hydrogen fuel production capacity coming on-stream, I'm not at all certain the roll-out will be too tardy tbh ....... but we shall wait and see Malc
  23. blimey, I paid £8 a pair last year ? for new ( standard ) front headlamps from Halfords ... on my 95 Ls400 They help me see OK and on main beam they sure do light the way superbly well Malc
  24. Habu, hi had you thought to maybe wait a little longer for the Toyota Hydrogen Fuel cell car to be with you, available in a year or two perhaps after all, they're well proven, tested and tried on UK roads now Malc
