  1. ............ and if this all fails, in the Mk3 anyway, there's a dial under the gearnob area just in front of the centre armrest console that with gentle and careful prising open will give someone with tender fingers etc the ability to just turn that dial down ..... ...... I discovered this from posts on here, oh, maybe a year or so ago now, when all else seemed to fail to stop the darned thing from just going-off willy nilly for no apparent cause or reason Good luck with it whatever Malc
  2. I shouldn't be too flippant .......... the insurers won't not pay a claim with the wrong petrol being used ......... they might well do so with non-standard tyres/wheels that haven't been agreed by them specifically ....... up to you to decide what you want to do or risk of course Malc
  3. just remembering posts on here about changes to standard and having to tell your insurers etc Malc
  4. coffee beans reduced in price then ! and the bikkies from Aldi Malc
  5. maybe go to your local Halfords for them to deal with and charge the " usual" ........ is it £10 fee ? Malc
  6. That's the other tremendous benefit I've experienced with my Ls400s ........ they don't suffer from the traumatic decrepidation and degradation of all that stupid ultra modern electronic technology they fit to younger cars ..... far far less to go wrong Malc
  7. aha then .. preventative maintenance for the next 25 years ........... and I bet you never need them Malc
  8. Luke hi, there's a wealth of brilliant info on this Forum about the Ls400 I'm on my 3rd Ls400, a Mk1 and Mk2 before this one which I've had for 10.5 years and 110k miles of it's 26 years young life and 235k miles wonderful motoring Owned one or other now as my main car for 20+ years and probably 250k miles ...... travelling all over the UK and much of Europe too Extreme comfort and reliability with simple regular inexpensive servicing and hopefully planned relatively inexpensive preventative maintenance too Go buy one, I doubt you will have a day's regret Malc
  9. you're right there ...... my next door neighbour has that shape Bentley Continental too ..... last year he covered about 2k miles at most .... his other cars too don't seem to get much use .......... very low running costs, at least fuel-wise methinks .... all parked out in the road of course ....... not seen his Jensen Interceptor this last summer so that's probably tucked away in storage somewhere and that's probably quite expensive NOT to run tho' Malc I still hanker after that elusive Bentley S3 from the '60's
  10. with no local unskilled labour shortages and COP26 in mind isn't it time to just ditch the washing machine ..... all that wasted electricity, energy and mining stuff to make 'em ..... let alone the manufacturing process, delivery issues, lack of HGV drivers etc to bring them to and from factories and warehouses .... WEAR LESS clothes I say .. c'mon Greta, show your mettle .. BAN the washing machine ............ it's anti-social too ... oh for the conviviality of chatting around the scrubbing board .......... maybe over a cuppa eh ! DISCUSS ? Malc
  11. isn't a flexi push-rod type brush the more environmentally friendly and also won't dissolve the pipework nor your fingers ! Malc
  12. if you was tempted to buy the Bentley I'd go for the SC430 or whatever the latest Lexus big convertible might be ...... it won't breakdown and cost you the earth to keep maintained and on the road like a Bentley Malc
  13. I've used Saga these past few years with mixed feelings ... but on balance all OK Earlier times I felt ripped-off when they charged me a stupid extra mid stream premium when I moved home / Post Code............. insuring again some years later with Saga my new post code was never an issue ................... Saga COULD and DID take unfair advantage of me at that time knowing I was STUCK mid year and wouldn't move insurers I queried and queried it again, and the Brokers for/thru' Saga just told me that they didn't have to give any reasoning to me, their policyholder, for their assessment of " risk " Absolute " rip-off" for sure ...... BUT I'm back again now with their premiums, quality of service etc just about ok I won't move home mid stream again tho' 😈 Malc
  14. I doubt it . the underseal looks quite original to my mind and doesn't look like you're way of thinking tbh . to my mind anyway she looks a beauty but oh my........ . far too expensive methinks Malc
  15. I've rarely driven cars with the steering on the " wrong " side but I never remember it being an problem when I did so ..... now, thinking to go around the roundabout the wrong way, well, that's another issue altogether Malc
  16. no it doesn't really I'm sorry to say .. I remember the then owner, I'm quite certain ! saying something about the speedo and me thinking the mileage was really 100k+ or whatever BUT being happy that she looked so fine BUT for a then dealer in Milk Floats to be selling her as a genuine low miles example on autoraider, well, my inquisitive mind needs satisfying somehow and I'm thinking that could only be from those original posts details ... I have no interest in knowing the original sellers details etc at all ... it's not his issue that my mind needs satisfying Malc
  17. "The LS400 is still a car that impresses. It’s still, thirty years on, an example of how to build a car. It’s now also a proper classic, but one that will, if maintained, never let you down. It might not be the most economical choice these days, but if you can live with the thirst, the LS400 could easily be the last car you ever need. It was, and still is a triumph. One of the automotive greats, in fact." just a little something I saw today trawling there Malc
  18. Vlad, the world is full of people who don't care a hoot about others and wouldn't spend their time trying to help or assist to any degree ... have little faith, rather than having even a little faith, and you probably won't be too disappointed at the Outcomes Best wishes with it all ........... still seems a little odd to me that the insurance company isn't being at all categoric about your Claim tho' ... seems a little "wishy washy " Malc
  19. maybe they're trying to recoup the daily rent and rates on the showroom ............ and the coffee and bikkies too Malc
  20. OMG for heavens sake just park on it then Malc I jest of course
  21. you sure about this .... TV weather lady today saying there's plenty of snow in parts of Scotland ... how cold is NOT cold enough I'm wondering Malc
  22. we replaced our not so old gas boiler too a while back with a Vaillant ..... touch wood, so far so good .. just had it's annual service etc and the guy who installed it recommended it to us, as the one in his house had been there 15 years or so with zero issues I am of course expecting superb longevity, just like my Ls400 Malc
  23. yes I had, but quite honestly I can't be bothered .......... there's summat really fishy going on with this to my mind and this Forum is, simply, somehow, endorsing a fraudulent autoraider advertiser ...... this car's maybe done 100k more miles than as stated and I think, intuitively, we're simply being made fools of by the current owner of this car I hope I'm wrong and Mods will bring-up this prior detail .... but I'm not holding my breath ...... it's only a very small few of us on this Forum have any interest any more in the Ls400 so I guess it's just not worthwhile bothering with .............. anymore, at all, with anything to do with our cars Malc
