  1. Oh my .. do tell, what was the " damage " ? Malc
  2. Stuart, you're a miserable failure for sure ...... you just didn't do all this while standing on your hands eating a banana and drinking a fizzy coke thru a straw ........ I don't know, when will we ever learn .......... hehehehehe Malc
  3. having had my appetite whetted to get one of these I've been looking at the prices on Autofrader .... they do seem a bit bonkers especially when there's a few with " rust " issues seemingly ! Malc
  4. and the Ls400, even still at 26 years young is 6.9 secs Malc
  5. yep it's done and you've been done and it's done with now so happy christmas and tell father Xmas to bring you summat super in your stocking Malc
  6. blimey, serious fault there you know ......... better get those undertrays gold plated then Malc
  7. Oh and changing the radiator thingy every 100k miles 10 years to prevent the ingress of water into the gearbox and destroying the gearbox...... . the 430 and the 460 too That's about it methinks .. comparatively as cheap as chips to maintain with simple regular, every 100k miles preventative maintenance Malc
  8. and I will continue to contend that the Govt take on the fuel we put into our cars is actually a 400% premium tax ..... being 80% of the pump price or as near as dammit being the base cost of the product PLUS 4 X in taxation of that base pump retail cost ...... Malc cf: fridges, freezers, toys etc say are at 20% vat on the resulting shop cost price .. a true 25% of the shop stock price at the till
  9. sounds good Paul ... reg no. so we can check MOT stuff etc ? Malc
  10. As with my personal driving of the the Ls400 for 20 plus years, I've been reading now about the 430 V8 engine for many many years and longevity and durability of the whole drivetrain is impeccable Normal servicing and maintenance of course, as with any car results in complete peace of mind and less strain on the pocket too cambelt, pulleys and waterpump every 100k miles .. avoiding air suspension too .......... and you have a classic in the making, if not already fuel and insurance costs, well, it's a superb V8 with all the comfort and security of driving that one could ever wish .... you don't buy a V8 and expect to worry about mpg ........ ever Malc
  11. I'm thinking I might buy one ( nuts really ......as a 3rd car ) come the spring The SC430 intrigues me and they have longevity and durability ....... so it might be ok for me . it's only money eh ! Malc
  12. John hi .. I also have a 56 plate Honda Legend, a very fine car too BUT it really is NOT quite so happy a car to drive as my 95 plate Ls400 with, now, 236k miles of which I have done about 110k The Honda Legend is really the g/fs car and that's now covered 137k miles about ( we've had it 5 years or so ) .. as I say a very fine car but not quite so as my Ls400 to drive etc ... maybe it's the lack of comparative power in the Legend that's the issue, not sure really, it just doesn't quite match up Malc
  13. bonkers not to reveal the reg number tho Malc
  14. Remember the possible import add-on costs too When I bought from Amayama, albeit a while ago and pre Brexit, I spent lots £££££ on UCAs etc there was the carriage costs then Customs Duty + VAT + a small PO handling charge too Overall the total costs worked out about 50% of UK Lexus / Toyota prices Good luck Malc
  15. have you tried Amayama or Rockauto ? Malc
  16. welcome Toni .. Hola !! Malc
  17. mine has never had a drop of water in it either ! Malc
  18. probably an emphatic YES just take it to someone else as we and I have specifically said prior Malc
  19. John, I can't believe brake pipes, corroded or not, and probably not tbh......... to replace fully isn't anything but a relatively simple, but knowledgeable procedure that very very many competent mechanics can do ......... it's unlikely to be all of the brake pipes whatever suggest you find a simple ordinary local garage and ask them to look at, assess and give you a sensible quote to replace any brake pipes that need sorting out you may be hopefully and pleasantly surprised .... fingers xd your Lexus Dealer is surely just taking the peeeee Malc
  20. my RAC Full Breakdown Recovery incl Europe, cover is for me and my partner driving my car and her car and with me as a passenger in or driving any other car too ! Malc
  21. I'm with the RAC and have been for ever almost ......... really good in all and any circumstances BUT OF COURSE these have been amazingly rare ...... it's a Lexus puncture / wheel changes I can't do and it's not the car's fault when I get a puncture for sure ....... nowt else really ever goes wrong whilst out driving eh ! Malc
  22. brand new OEM from Amayama ( Japan and UAE ) and RockAuto ( USA ) I have used Amayama and the service and pricing is brilliant , others have used RockAuto too When importing you can pay list price + carriage + Customs Duty + VAT + Post office handling charge of small amount too ........... Brexit might have changed some of this tho' All in all often works out at 50% or less of buying the same part from Lexus / Toyota in the UK Then there's 2nd hand spares from maybe Paul Frost who's on here too Can you give us more detail of your very astute purchase ? Malc
  23. I'd have thought the 48k miles car is so so underused to make it a little vulnerable tbh BUT the first one, being owned ( I guess ) by Paul Frost should give some credence to it's on-going durability methinks I'd go for the Paul Frost car any time Steve, wow, this is bad news for buyers of anything then on t'bay ........ imho the Govt really should now bring T'Bay under scrutiny for regulation, just like with google and facebook advertising ......... traders and car dealers falsifying mileage claims on cars should be more severely punished than just the comparative weak arm of Trading Standards taking too long winded action ... as in Dudley Man ..... and those that carelessly and openly allow such advertisers to flourish .......... notwithstanding the adage " buyer beware " . the internet has possibly changed all that to make the selling facilitator, like T'Bay etc " beware " Malc
  24. too much money brand new in it's day BUT at £25k now, well, if someone wanted a very low miles model desperately then they will be so few and far between ....... guess a comparable used, say 100k model with Full Lexus Service, cambelt change etc would be from about £10k trade price upwards ......... BUT it's clearly a superman car going thru hedges sideways so that in itself is a great selling point .......... as intimated by Steve Malc
