when one's mid-steam in a year with car insurance I think you're just open to being taken for that proverbial ride by the insurance coy / broker ...... they know they have you over a barrel and will squeeze till all the pips pop .. they know you won't change insurers mid stream .... I had similar experience with Saga some years back and asked for the evidence for their increased risk on the same car but new postcode ......... they refused, said they didn't need to ....... I didn't insure with them the following year or two BUT then when I did again it became evident that my postcode is " normal " or even below for risk assessment Never trust your insurer to deal you a " good deal " mid stream . they really don't have to ..... and won't 😈 Malc ......................... rant over

My Honda Legend has all this KLAS stuff too and to my knowledge it's not being used to any effect when it's being driven .... maybe if I had it in my Ls400 it would be used but might be one of those features, like many others, that are just not used by most ( or many ) drivers ..... too much technology for me to get to grips with I guess .......... simple cars with simple teccy stuff suits me down to the ground Bit like worrying about the rear seating combos and the technology, screens there etc ........ never have anyone in my back seats, well so rarely it's a little irrelevant ( or am I being irreverent ) Malc

then brrrrrr..... the screen goes blank and all functionality reposes in a heap ! Malc

the very first thing you need to do is to send a payment to ?????? for 100 euros to seek permission to do so .......... and then when it's done, another for 200 euros for the Govt inspection ....... and the additional 35 euros at each MOT for the excess work involved to check some gasket or other by the Tester Malc

and there's the VED Road Tax issues with later cars being excessive too probably Malc

to me this has been blindingly obvious from the outset ............ of course the Exchequer is going to have to be replenished from people's cars etc .. the UK has to survive ....... paying for the NHS etc . and the car owning / using public simply WILL be paying it's fair ( or greater ) share ............. as ever me too .......... it's not a rip off, it's just what one would reasonably expect to pay at a Main Dealer .. and get coffee and bikkies seated in an armchair Most of us with older cars use independent car mechanics and expect that same level of competency but with appropriate and sensibly priced servicing ........ maybe an hour's labour and a chunk of brake pipe ........ say £65 max .,........ possibly a coffee and bikkies thrown in too whilst chatting and watching Malc

Steve, maybe this should be another post Forum item ....... when I last renewed my car insurances I was reminded that I still had to mention the actual Claim for a replacement windscreen ...... whilst not held against one at renewal ........... however I'm thinking it might not be too long before the insurers do actually treat this as a Claim formally to affect one's NCB etc and " UP " the annual premium accordingly I hope not but there we are, who trusts insurers to actually really act in the very best interests of their clients ! is it not a huge worry for owners of cars with Hybrid Batteries that something so simple as a dog blanket, or other unknowing but simple impediment, could cause a catastrophic issue arising in day to day motoring ...... Malc

too much chasing around with little consideration for other road users and traffic conditions very often I'm thinking it's coz there's less day to day experience out there right now with people just travelling less and total impatience driving .. not me of course I'm totally rational, respectful and allow go-faster striped cars to chase ahead of me, cut me up and mess me around ..... and then WHAM BANG I'm past them in a flash and leave them in a shroud of road dust ......... them thinking there's a mirage of some old banger just arrived from heaven to teach them a well deserved lesson My old lady's still very very quick and fast when the fancy takes her ....... normally when competing with Mercs, BMWs and Audis thinking they really do own the road when everyone should know it's the Ls's' that do Malc

But they do actually pass the MOT ok .. I've got them on the front of mine and been thru' 2 MOTs ok Malc

Just thinking .... can't imagine that much of Africa and Asia and South America will be thinking EV anytime soon. well, over the next 100 years . petrol and diesel will surely prevail I for one wouldn't want to look for an EV charging point somewhere traversing the Gobi or up the Andes OMG you're absolutely right ...... BUT we do tend to use other non-franchised coffee shops too .. usually prefer the independents, you know, supporting local small businesses whatever .. being a longstanding member of the FSB inclines me to that way of thinking never a vindictive streak in me young man ........... never has been, never will be .......... and I don't usually STOP until the " coast is clear " and seeing sense prevail Best wishes one and all Malc Absolutely, everyone to their own ...............
