  2. for someone I'm sure Malc
  3. " anyway as it's in limp mode and doesn't go above 3rd gear " Sorry my post above is really out of context .. you didn't mention here about your present state of " limp mode " and the advice you're getting in the other post section about auto gearboxes is very much more relevant. I had thought that if my Honda Legend gearbox ever became a problem with the lights MOT-wise she could always go as a racing stock car for some little money .... the car really doesn't owe us much, cost £4k in 2016 and been totally trouble free Malc
  4. ok, this sounds terrible .......... and Lexus whatever want you to spend a silly £6k BUT are the lights on an MOT fail or just that your car is too early to have this worry with the MOT ALSO do the lights on actually mean that the car is malfunctioning ? OR is it that there is a simple non-worrying error with a solenoid whatever simply misreading and malfunctioning with absolutely zero harm to the gearbox etc ? Get a 2nd opinion from a trusted gearbox specialist maybe ? I say this coz for some years now I have had lots of dash lights flashing on my 56 plate Honda Legend that I'm professionally assured is simply an error with a solenoid ( is it ) in the gearbox BUT that there is absolutely zero malfunctioning going on otherwise ........ the car and it's gearbox run as smoothly as one would expect from an amazing 3.5ltr Honda V6 with only 140k on the clock ......... it's effectively a malfunctioning light ! The cost to have this " light on " fix could be stupidly astronomical ... like yours maybe Best wishes with it all whatever Malc
  5. just thinking aloud really ... is this a potential insurance claim maybe ? that might take care of all your fixing and colour worries if it could be Malc
  6. cheval is probably more of a delicacy these days in French restaurants ? Malc
  7. and it goes on ............ ad infinitum ........ agggghhhh it's Latin phraseology for gods sake Malc
  8. anyone remember the Heartbeat type policeman's ( and others too ) motorized type bicycles ? . or maybe mopeds were they really ......... two wheels and not a straight 6 one in sight methinks ..... a straight 6 ( 3 ltr ) reminds me of my Wolseley 6/110 days loooooong back .... 50 / 60 years maybe ah to reminisce eh ! ..... a friend of mine, a youngster in those days ( the 1980's ), had a 3 wheeler bicycle ........ a tricycle .......... did he stop using it coz they were a dangerous style to use, kept toppling over I remember he said ......... Malc
  9. UK too has all this of course ........... doesn't anyone watch David Jason ........Open All Hours or maybe Mr Jones, Dads Army .......... on his Butcher's bike etc c'mon guys, lighten up on all this ... cyclists will always get mown down by cars and vans and trucks ....... it's called " sport " surely Malc
  10. I thought these are tools for pruning rose bushes etc Malc
  11. might even have trouble finding a bank still open these days ! Malc
  12. Nissan " for life " cam chains can also prematurely snap and cost £6k when snapped .............. engine destroyed ..... for life is often 100k miles in many manufacturers parlance ..... and nothing to do with engine oil, filter changes etc ...... nothing's for life really ..... except " life " Maybe best to change the cam chains at max 100k mile / 10 years unless experience shows otherwise Malc
  13. the UK Govt and NHS statistics show that of all the covid related deaths these days it is ( only ☠️ ) 0.5% that are vaccinated and most of those vaccinated sad cases are of extremely vulnerable persons . the remainder, some 99.5% are deaths from covid of unvaccinated persons FACT Malc
  14. as I say ........ a load of bo--ll-cks quite frankly whoever could possibly imagine that either Latin or ancient Greek have any use whatsoever in this day and age really must be a dinosaur .......... the world's moved on ........ well, unless one's a specific type of scholar or tutor at some renowned university or other and needing the set skills to teach those other " dinosaurs" emerging into the modern world ... the modern world we have and are in and whether we like it or not, the set language is whatsapp type speak with abbreviations and a lingo quite frankly I even have trouble comprehending when the grandkids send me stuff .......... messages that is ! our world has moved on .. get a grip ....... Malc

  18. reckon it's a load of bol--cks tbh Malc there was a Latin dictionary for sale in the local charity shop the other day ........ almost bought it but then remembered I still had mine from long back schooldays ......... failed Latin O Level grade 9 btw maybe 56 years ago .. hahahaha .. such a useless language I thought then ........... and now too
  19. how bonkers this new teccy stuff is ... I replaced one of my headlight bulbs a couple of years ago ... the 2nd time in 10 years I think, maybe the first time ever in the life of the car ! My headlight bulbs came oversold ...... from Halfords ......... I had to buy a pack of TWO .. but hey, they cost £8 the pack and took just a very few minutes to change too Malc
  20. When I bought my previous Ls400 it had the original number plate on it which had been sold to another buyer ............ guess who ? BCA 3 ........ I had new plates for the new regn. and I just super-duper glued them over the existing ............. that would have proven to be pretty irremovable methinks without pulling the front of the car to pieces Malc
  21. two of mine ( are there more ? Ls400 ) have been surgically removed quite recently, well, over the past few years, as they were rattling and loose and seemingly vestigial weight adornments it seems Malc
  22. Bill, gender equality please ............. males, females and ????? bit like actors and actresses ............ boys, girls and whatever else one might identify with .... cyclists the same no doubt Malc
  23. these modern cars eh ! the pin manufacturers will soon be out of business at this rate Malc
