AGE UK might do you an equity release and then leave your kids the car instead of the house maybe ........... I'm sure they won't mind in the slightest Malc

.................... and an even better decision, by public acclaim, vote, to leave the EC to enable this wonderful Great British nation of ours to do much much better than ever before Bring us your Poor and Needy and they will ensure our country develops into an even more amazing and wonderful place to be ................. DISCUSS ( maybe ? ) Malc

I suggest maybe the HGVs are super taxed especially at the border where they arrive from the EU .... a super tax to either cover their costs of damage to our BRITISH roads or just to keep the imports down from the EU and elsewhere that arrive by HGV Malc

for tax purposes or nay it's such a beautiful country to drive around ....... especially in my old Lexus Ls400 Malc

Excellent synopsis Ed ............ raising revenue will never be what anybody wishes BUT everybody wants it raised to pay for well, everything the State is responsible for ............ balancing the books has never been easy and Rishi's job to deal with the £400 bn costs incurred from the pandemic will take a stroke of genius to sort out ..... let's hope he is the guy for the job ........ don't know of anyone else in the public eye that would have a clue what to do tbh Maybe Rishi has a headstart and can have a useful chat with his father-in-law who knows a thing or two about finances . probably more than most people, bankers, financiers, politicians ...... and about charities too .... and the needs of those needing charity The least likely politician ever to need to be accused of anything untoward to do with money, sleaze, corruption etc ........ doubt he would ever ever want to be the PM .......... he has a life to live and wouldn't want, I'm sure, to be the butt of the Commons day to day crap BUT then, of all the Conservatives( as they are IN ) maybe he really is the only one with the energy and ability to do a great job for the Nation Malc

we elect 'em for sure ........ nobody to blame bar you and me ........... well, unless you don't vote btw it's illegal not to vote in Australia I'm told ....... neither to enter, nor try to enter, the country with falsehoods as did Novax Jokeabitch the other week Malc

wouldn't that be nice eh ! .. even amazing ............. now then, where's the comment I posted about Donald Trump's Scottish Golf Courses getting stack loads of UK Govt handout covid money ... no fear of that ever being repaid I s'pose ! AND of course it was all legal and above board and some might think that impoverished Trump and his allies could have afforded the largesse to refuse making the covid financial claims ............ BUT there we are Trump and his accountants and allies clearly think they are more deserving than the NHS .... even the Scottish NHS ............ Malc

no idea tbh ...... bit like having an unused car that needs to be taxed ......... maybe just tax the bicycle then at point of sale, like a car .... and an annual road tax where appropriate ........ I'm sure someone will come along with an effective and sensible way to tax these road users that are getting away with not paying anything for the privilege Malc

it's been there for me at the " point of need " instantaneous......... with my cancer radiotherapy and operation .......... the 1.5 million employees all do a tremendous job for sure ....... my nephew is a heart surgeon Consultant and works his bollocks off saving peoples lives every day ........ employ more and the peripheral waiting lists might come down for sure ......... " point of need " is catered for well within the capacity of the NHS ............... NHS 1.75 million employees and all will be dealt with instantaneously I'm sure .. the waiting list will vanish ......... let's all pay a little more to achieve that eh ! So VED for cyclists might help ease the NHS waiting lists then Most other countries the " point of need " passes and one just dies without the personal wealth to jump the Qs😵 Malc

Best tape or stick pads for Number Plates?
Malc replied to agent_dess's topic in Lexus General Discussions
why not just fix the new plate over the existing old one ? that will cover up the screw heads too of course ....... I think you may be " overthinking " the job in hand tho' Malc -

LS400 boot struts.

I used SGS a long while back for the Mazda 323F rear window strut and sent the old one over to them and they dealt with everything odd and sent it back all done and ready to fit ............. brilliant service Malc -
I so so rarely complain .... I just feel that cyclists as Road Users should be paying some sort of Govt Road Tax for using the road too ... after all, when I have two cars and only use one at a time I still expect and happy to pay VED Road Tax on both cars .. and one of them, the Honda Legend ( 2006 car ) is £600 a year too I'm not complaining at all ..... I realise that the Govt has to raise all sorts of taxes to pay for society to enjoy simple things .........like the NHS .... 1.5 million employees I understand .. what a great institution it is ............. what a wonderful use of our taxes . and I'm being absolutely serious here guys AND if it means taxing cyclists to help pay more towards the NHS then I'm all for it .............. a minimum of £500 a year for cyclists over the age of 16 ! AND if they can't be seen to have paid the tax then confiscate the bike and crush it .... like they do with untaxed cars ! Malc

New internal combustion engine could be death knell for EVs
Malc replied to Herbie's topic in Lexus General Discussions
OMEGA 1 ( oils and fuels burning ) sounds a brilliant concept ......... Omega is always good for one 1 ........ let's hope it's innovation brings good and healthy rewards to its founders then ! Malc -
well well well ............ even a straight and honest, upstanding NON-corrupt Government wins .... especially if it's run by the Party one wants it to be run by ........... hey, just thought, the name of the Party ( having the Party ) could be Labour or Conservative or LibDems ( is it ) or Green Green Grass of Home .. whatever it is they all deserve to have a Party at some time, to celebrate the beating down and out of this Covid disease ... good on 'em and the NHS especially for nearly getting there cleansing the nation of covid stuff etc Malc
-
as will Road Tax VED and cost of filling her up with EV stuff .......... special meters no doubt .. somehow ... but the Govts simply got to recoup all that lost Petroleum Revenue Tax somehow from other road users ..... now then ... what about a £500 a year VED on all cyclists too 😈 Malc

as an ex car trader and retail and wholesale seller of cars you're absolutely correct ... never have been and never will be ........ someone has to make a profit and thereby someone makes a loss ........ unless you're dealing with esoteric financial instruments then they all convince themselves they're the one's making the profit ........ but there's another story to be told sometime ! Malc

I have posted from time to time over these past few months about such issues . springing from nowhere it seems ... last March particularly with electrical gremlins, water gremlins too ... but after some use it's all back to " normal " whatever that can be for a car with 237k miles Gearbox issues have thankfully eluded me on this Ls400 for sure BUT reading all this I'll certainly think about having a Full Service done on the Honda Legend gearbox to see if that resolves the Xmas Lights on the dash Malc
