  1. is there really no clear flexi glue type product to just smear over to fill any cracks and then just wipe off the remainder surplus ? Malc
  2. whatever .......... it makes fun reading and lets vent to your and my angst with Trump odiousness Malc
  3. Russell hi a few years ago I had a Saab with N 4 PRO ... zero value and some others when I was a car dealer too ....... looked good on the face of it but ended up with bugger all value to me, the business The only one with any value was on my 2nd Ls400 about 15 years ago when the garage selling it to me had just sold the original registration for, I understand £8500 ...... so they said ....... ha ! BCA 3 ... now, who on earth would want to have added that to their collection I wonder Some have good value, most don't ....... if I was H 1 8 BRO ...... my brother Henry had just turned 18, well, I guess I might have paid a few £00 for it as a birthday pressie ..... you'll be lucky to find him .......... and after all those advertising costs and the DVLA fees etc ....... not much profit for you methinks sadly Good luck anyway and Best wishes Malc
  4. yesterday out and about noticed the cyclists seemed to have an unusually sense of " fear " and ultra awareness down our country lanes in this part of Kent Just thinking they might be expecting some sort of backlash from motorists totally peeved with these new rules and " giving no quarter " "taking every inch" allowed and worrying they're in for a much more challenging time from the guys in those big metal objects that can so easily flatten a two wheeled irritant Highway Code or no, the cyclists might have not done themselves too much of a good service by messing around with the " rules " of the road Malc
  5. but wasn't "perfection" really with originality Malc
  6. blimey, a salutary lesson there for us all and the protagonists of EVs Malc
  7. not at all ...... just the odious Donald with so much wealth being subsidised by you and me and all UK Taxpayers you may recall I mention him, specifically Malc
  8. it's also on autofrader as " unspecified " .... and for a while too Malc
  9. I'm probably banned from driving into London now in my 95 Ls400 ? I understand that I am most certainly banned from entering Paris ... oh such joy ! BUT on values, well cost £1400 in 2011 with 123k miles ........ and now 237k miles and collected from insurers @£800 ( after buy back, excess etc ) for my Cat N write-off ......... and still running fine ... a few blemishes and age related marks and idiosyncracies t'boot .... and value, well £650 is fine .. so break even / a £50 uplift in value and no increase maybe ......... hahahahaha, surely worth a grand or two ! Malc
  10. ............ and you may remember i mentioned sometime back ( recently ) that the Donald Trump organisations benefitted from UK Govt covid loans / furlough whatever it was .... to preserve the Scottish Golf ( hard-up poor citizens ) golf Courses for the future ..... oh and the jobs of the few too ........ such a deserving cause that the prime movers in the Donald Trump golfing businesses just had to take from you and me ..... the Taxpayers to the UK Govt Malc
  11. do you really think any politician would know the answer ...... I doubt any HMP Governor would either, tucked up in his ( or her ) cosy office with a cuppa brought in by the PA ..... I'm supposing Norman Stanley Fletcher gets his bowl of Porridge every day still Malc
  12. ........... and let's not forget that during this covid time much air travel has been severely curtailed and with it the Govt tax on our airfares revenue just LOST and never to return Do you know that in many instances the UK Govt tax on your flight ticket is about 50% or so of that cost to you ? I'm sure someone will check out these figures to determine the revenue lost at this time All that's got to be resuscitated somehow too .. well it's not just that air tax it's all the " lost " ATOL CAA fees that the Govt collects from each ticket sold too of course It's big big figures I'm sure. probably ££billions but I don't know ..... and maybe that's considered to be an airport Runway Tax .......... that's just upped and runaway Maybe one's air travel tax should be upped to compensate for the £££ lost from EV, VED Road Taxes Malc
  13. NOW guys I would like to get this across and for the Govt to do summat about it Why is it that prisoners enjoy free food, hotel/hostel accommodation, heating lighting etc , free exercise opportunities and hobbies .... tuition etc when many could have their assets seized, or at least requisitioned to help pay for their stay at Her Majesty's Pleasure ........... not mine for sure ...pleasure that is When they have served their sentence then just take whatever it's cost US the taxpayer in reimbursement I'm presuming this isn't the case already ? does anyone know ...... Proceeds of Crime are taken anyway BUT this is on another level I'm thinking Thoughts please ............... Malc
  14. I'm trying to remember . long while back I think I had a similar issue ...... and it wasn't the key or the lock, it was me just not getting the steering wheel quite right, maybe on a " lock " or summat . but it did free up and I've never had that issue arise again maybe I'm talking a load of tosh with this BUT I do remember such .......... it might have been on any one of my three Lss' of course over a couple of decades or so ..... I'll put my thinking cap on and come back here if I discover that bit of my brain cell that's captured this thought Malc or it might of course have been on another car marque . I'll think a bit about it
  15. and as for taxation in general, well, I won't dwell on that issue ...... you all seem to have well reasoned views and i cannot dispute any ... I'm just a mere mortal with a Lexus and comparatively " rich " in money terms to the great majority of the world population ..... I eat, sleep and enjoy my life as best as i am able .. I can want for no more ! Malc
  16. OMG sorry, I got my figures wrong again, I hadn't taken account of the " other taxes " you mention That takes the uplift from the miserly 125% I thought to actually 130% tax on every litre we pop into our cars guys Malc
  17. aha, the suspension control unit no less whatever that might do ! Malc
  18. yep, hands up, the cold is getting to me Fuel duty is only 57.9p a litre and on the £1.50 pump price the 20% vat element will be just 25p Total tax per litre will therefore be only 82.9p which is only 55.3% of the pump price ......... which is therefore just 67.1p cost of fuel, profit and forecourt costs and a lump of tax on top of all that representing only about a 125% uplift sorry, my apologies to everyone here and the Tax Man ..... the Govt only imposes a simple and meagre 125% overall tax on petrol Please correct me again if I'm wrong ... sorry Rishi, you won't be inviting me to join your team then 😉 Malc
  19. sorry guys, I got stopped mid-track This of course equates to a realtime tax charge of 400% on the pump and profit cost of the ( wet ) fuel at delivery ......... the actual fuel and profit cost is just one fifth, 20% of the pump price AND this nonsense of EVs around the world won't be taken up too much methinks ....... you possibly won't find an EV charging point mid Gobi desert nor climbing the Andes around Aconcagua ..... nor near to my house rear courtyard by the quayside in Kent Malc
  20. why does no one believe me when I'm saying that the Exchequer Revenue Tax applied to petrol and diesel is actually 80% .. not the silly 20% drummed into us For one litre of fuel the base price supplied at the pump is just @ 20% of that pump price to include retailers profit ... the remainder is actually Petroleum Revenue Tax and VAT .................. 2030 might arrive and by then will also go on and on and on and on as the cut-off date will be extended ad infinitum ( maybe ) Malc
  21. for MPs and anyone else to be at all surprised at the suggested drop off in Tax Revenue is a bit ludicrous ..... ah, no, these are actually MPs so nothings beyond " surprise " methinks .............. SO then, EVs will sure find themselves in some sort of SuperTax bracket sometime soon I've no doubt .. just wondering how Suggestions please everyone Rishi might be pleased to hear from us at some time Malc
  22. whatever it might be I'm not at all sure that the calipers are included ............ simple preventative servicing / maintenance too Malc
  23. spitting image of Sir Keir St--mer ? Malc
