99 RON Fuel and Spark Plugs
Malc replied to Ozzay's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I'm not so sure BP petrol is exclusively BP fuel Tell you why ..... my local BP station is run by MFG .... Motor Fuel Group .... there signs all over it ! I think maybe they are the ASDA fuel stations too ... and a lot lot of others ......... maybe I'm too cynical but these days I rarely believe all I see as the " truth " Malc -
99 RON Fuel and Spark Plugs
Malc replied to Ozzay's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
good god ........... you're changing the plugs maybe every 100k miles or 10 years is it ??? why on earth worry about scrimping to save a few bob to the possible detriment of your sanity and using your car satisfactorily Malc -
Who's on what mobile network and how's its coverage?
Malc replied to Mr Vlad's topic in Lexus General Discussions
I'm with 3 and been with them for a very very very long time Don't think I've ever had a problem anywhere . but not been up too many mountains with it I must admit Isn't it that these providers just piggyback off the local best provider when they don't themselves have coverage ? Malc -
1996 LS400 Replacement suspension bushes. What are my choices?
Malc replied to Howplum's topic in Brakes & Suspension
I have only used Amayama for replacements ..... genuine, correct and 50% of the UK Lexus / Toyota price even after carriage, Customs Duty and vat Once I used BluePrint and they had a very very limited lifespan .... only 40k miles I would suggest that unless you have to change things then leave well alone ..... the costs can be quite high and the betterment effect will be very small probably and nowt will need changing until they might become a MOT Advisory ........ 84k miles is tiny really Just my limited experience with my Mk3 car and the Mk1 and Mk2 prior Malc -
RAC service might provide the trip for you if you had the right type of cover Malc

have you seen the new BP TV advert ? Young guy puts his EV on Charge at the new charging post ....... brilliant He pops into the shop for a coffee etc .. and next he's outside going to his car and looks at his phone which tells the time he's been there ....... 21.32 .. not at night The time he's spent charging ..... 21 minutes 32 seconds methinks NOW I KNOW BP is upgrading it's forecourts to include modern day shops and shopping for all AND I read on the Finance Briefing for Shareholders etc a while back that they are expecting BPs profits to be equal from the shop sales as fuel I'm guessing all their forecourts will have mass EV charging points which will generate mass shop sales Just a thought Malc

The registration is only worth what that elusive person might pay for it methinks ..... much promotion and advertising just might track down that individual or someone prepared to take a punt and buy it hoping to on-sell Been there, got the T Shirt and it's a troublesome effort often with poor results Good luck to the owner tho' whatever Malc

LS400 dead...
Malc replied to hockeyedwards's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
when mine went, alternator, there was some confusion over the correct part number for my specific car so double check what's offered to you Also a sometime premature failure with the alternator could be the power steering reservoir etc leaking into the unit ..... so maybe check that out as a possible cause Good luck with it Malc -

Fear not ......... all that bliss will return . it's your Ls400 ........... that sodding gremlin needs taking out and remorselessly spanked Dash lights having a Party and alternator failing to charge the newish battery seems quite likely ....... and worn with age cabling, damp, undue wind .. too many greens no doubt ... so just chill and remember that these cars never fail in totality and respond well to tlc You'll have her for many years to come Malc -
especially as you must have paid them the neck end of £800 for the job ..... it's a whole day labour plus the new starter motor .... oh! and the vat too do tell please Malc

one of my buddies to whom I gave a lift last night for our qtly supper get-together had a beautiful 1999 Jag 4.2 ltr (that his son now has ) and that car had lots of electronic brake park issues in its time thankfully ours are just simple old fashioned non-electronic controlled eh ! Malc -

Thank you .... I'll pray it just vanishes then ........... seriously, I'll tell my indy and see what he can do for me sometime soon .................. my twinkle toes efforts haven't improved with my age tho' Malc -
just last evening first time ever for me .... and I suspect everyone else here too ........ the dash red warning light came on and stayed on for the full about 100 mile round trip .... not re-checked it yet today tho' for the " if parking brake is off stop and check" I stopped and popped it on and off a few times ........... I so so rarely use this parking brake car drove as impeccably as ever no mention at the last MOT and service of any parking or any brake issues upcoming ...... about 3 months, 2k miles ago ......... just popped the Q to my indy mechanic ....... hoping it will just vanish as they do and it's just an age and mileage related aberration 1995 238k miles upcoming and always given full mechanical tlc Any thoughts one and all ? Thank you Malc

Got an interview next Monday .. under the clock at Waterloo Station .. they've promised to pay me with large brown envelopes too I've insisted no £50 notes tho' I'm still musing as to how Putin can be the 9th richest guy in the world right now .......... that's the status I read somewhere recently, might be wrong tho ... he's very hardworking and clever and is justly deserving of all he gets methinks Malc

have we got that many . and just to let you all know that I really wouldn't have any issue with each and every one being handed over for power generation ... they'll be in convenient locations too for masses of EV Charging Points . I guess ! .... or is there a little more to plugging in an EV I wonder Nah, footie hasn't ever attracted me ..... and anyway I'm thinking lots might be owned and financed with Oligarch money and I don't mind all that Russian dosh being confiscated either for a more worthwhile cause ............ powering up our Great British Nation Malc
