I remember posting on here a while back about the Climate Change Conference ..... or the Forum Post about EVs somewhere .. and that several delegates embarrasingly arrived late, maybe by a day or so maybe ............ coz of their EVs running out of distance ........ enuf charge for the road ahead ..... Malc

I'm quite astounded at the brilliant amount of rear space and leg room in this car ...... it's astonishing ... enuf room for a mouse, or even a whole family and little more methinks Malc
-
good lord David . just keep your Ls400 for as long as you can ... the availability of petrol and longevity of everything else on your Ls400 will long outweigh any so called " advantages " of having, owning and running.......... ££££££ an EV Malc

.... I guess that's why cars rust and on the old Rover 2000's, with much aluminium bodywork, this type of corrosion was prevalent and then " BANG " it all just fell to pieces Malc -
Oh c'mon now John ..... in my aged old simplicity and frebile, fragile and totally inconsequential thoughts I had assumed someone somewhere had gotten the terminolgy wrong and had meant to say .... Alternator Malc

heaven alone knows .... never been in that sad situation to own a car being left all alone and sad for any length of time .. but she looks relatively cosy tucked up in idyllic looking France ......might a little rubbing with oil " improve " the oxidisation look ? Malc -
Vlad I know nowt of your esteemed country but there are a few beneficial Top People around the world for sure ...... and one of them being I believe, the unparalleled Sultan of Brunei where his countrymen enjoy free health care, much like us with the NHS ..........other than he flies them to other countries for free treatment ........... at the cost to his State tho' ..... well, himself methinks Malc

Worry not Eric ......... . the future can be assured ....... the Russians would readily come and save us from the evil democratic systems we are living within .... and indeed our Politicians who can never be trusted with our welfare in mind eh ! Never seen a UK politician with a ( Putin style and owned ) £100mn yacht chasing around trying to find a safe haven where the stop cocks won't be opened by some grieving dislocated seaman Sorry I digress ......... apologies if I've upset any Oligarchs out there with a fleet of Lexii Smack my hands eh ! Lexus for MOTs and servicing ......... when I bought this car 11 years ago at 123k miles it had enjoyed both at Lexus Main Dealers ...... and consequent a huge brilliant folder of major servicing costs ... the owner doubtless had superb peace of mind too But for me subsequently it's never seen the light of day at a Main Dealer and my indy has relentlessly looked after her with taking it to one or other of his favoured MOT stations annually ...... with the annual service subsequently outside of the MOT stations orbit of influence YES ....... over the years there have been a few GENUINE issues ( old age, fair wear and tear ) to be resolved with OEM parts from Amayama .. and she still runs relatively well, I think, after 27 years BUT I've never needed that Lexus Stamp in the Service Book tho' Malc

Gentlemen ....... my 1995 car with 238k miles has only once ever had a partial drain and top-up / refill ............... maybe some 5/6 years ago and at maybe 180k miles .. all seems well and the gearbox doesn't seem to miss a beat methinks ...... am I doing summat wrong here ? or is it simply that the Ls400 gearbox is made of sterner stuff and not so " fragile " as more modern boxes perhaps Malc
-
that's brilliant ..... and I for one wouldn't know what on earth to change it for nor to cope with all the modern fandangled technology on new cars either jeez, people say about not being able to upgrade their satnavs on Lexus cars .... well my technology is way better than upgrading aged old built in obsolescence that cost a fortune to deal with . .... I just use google maps on my phone . zero cost and always upgraded daily methinks . and it works too Malc
-
Simon hi. well apart from all the above . and I've dealt with it that way from time to time ..... mine still has fits and stops working ....... then bursts into life .. sometimes showing a reading 10mph less than it should but lately, to my surprise reading quite correctly ... there's no known cure to galloping old age and I think that's what our cars are suffering from tbh .......... I put it down to damp and cold weather, too hot weather ands sometimes just being bloody awkward On here somewhere someone mentioned a company in Rochester Kent called REMAN ?( possibly ) Next time mine plays around might just phone and pop along to see them as they're only half hour from me ...... After all these years surely you just know how to guess the correct speed you're travelling at maybe I'll keep searching, like you for the definitive answer but I really don't think too may people care about our old aged limos and their arthritic tendencies Malc

with the satnav concepts . my car obviously pre-dates the satnav inclusive screen etc .......... being very old school . I feel as though I'm in a better position than all you guys worrying about updating the system and lack of longevity and of course at a high price too I just use my phone . it works and is always up-to-date and costs a big fat ZERO ....... good 'ol 27 year old Ls400 eh ! . and google maps Malc
-
that's am amazing price . when I used to buy the Ls400 wiper blades, that's just the rubbers, from Lexus /Toyota they were about £28 a set a couple of years ago ......... the prior stock used to last about 3 years 30/40k miles ..... the last set lasted only a year . maybe they were very very old stock and had just " perished " So lately I've been having the standard cheapy rubbers which really only last the 12 month but cost a fraction of the price Malc
