  1. you're thinking to join the China set then ..... Geely is it own and produce Volvo in China ? Malc
  2. This year Saga Insce have advised there will be zero Admin charges for amendments mid-term Malc
  3. I have no idea of your set-up or the complexity of change BUT on our beloved Ls400s we change the cambelt and waterpump at 100k miles / 10 years ...... it's a big big job with ours sadly ... I've changed waterpumps on other marques whrere the complexity just hasn't been there thankfully Hope someone brings you the definitive answer soon Malc
  4. I'm going to be somewhat wary of these systems being installed by 3rd parties in the future Like EVs and charging locators I'm just thinking that " big brother " be it Govt or simply Big Corp tracking might not for always be in our best interests Maybe I'm being overly cautious BUT I don't really want any of my personal life to be checked-out Malc
  5. guess you have a rare'ish car so well done really ! you cannot surely be too worried about the mpg ..... buying a car such as this and being a tad miserly with fuel seems a bit daft to me ENJOY her . life's possibly too short to worry about a few pennies on fuel consumption Malc
  6. bonkers advertising it at the price it is ........... and the mileage in kms ..... lovely part of the world tho' Nailsworth . or is that wrong to do you think ! Malc
  7. but more than compensated for by the amazingly generous 45p per mile allowance no doubt Malc
  8. this is just brilliant .......... over 22 years driving a Ls400 people have been in quite some awe of me and my car ... well, the car really that long ago coz they were new and rare to be seen on the roads . then a bit more common . but now, again in awe coz it's so rare to see one on the roads I've probably driven 250k miles over those years in a Ls400 .... I've enjoyed supreme comfort, style, reliability, power and acceleration at Will and by the bucket load .. and enjoyed every single moment of my motoring, the UK, Ireland and much of Europe ....... Ok there's a few dings from time to time and this old lady is now a quite presentable but Cat N ...........4 ltr V8 limo I would earnestly encourage you to drive your cars to the fullest you can, to enjoy every minute of owning your car and not to worry too much about the inevitable odd dings and dents Life is for living and one fine day it will all come to a sudden STOP ...... so Just get out there and ENJOY ........ it's so important to do so ... don't live to regret not enjoying your car Malc

    Oil

change annually with the service and MOT and top-up in between if needed ..... only ever need this top-up when doing say 10k+ miles pa and checking it all before going on a long trip ........ say a month out to do 4k miles or so around Europe somewhere, Scotland, Ireland wherever ..... and that's not been these past two years sadly Malc
  10. I remember the days when the Walls Ice Cream man rode around our locale with one of those Malc
  11. my Saga insurance was same as last year on this 3 year thingy thing ! BUT they couldn't give me my Morrisons £20 voucher under the new rules ........ so they gave me a £25 discount . I'm happy'ish Ls400 £259.79 after discount and 5k miles this year ( again sadly ) street parking ...... My age , lots 72 and fully protected NCD and that's after my whack with that darned Porsche that flew at me a couple of years back ......... zero damage to mine that wasn't sorted by my indy with his toes pushing out the zap in the back door .... but the Porsche cost Saga @£4500 to sort out ..... oh and my dearly beloved Ls400 is now CatN Nevermind tho' eh ! Malc
  12. Mine's a Ls400 so will probably be different size to yours ! Just measure the existing ? I generally go for the simplest cheapest functional rubbers these days as they will be ok for another year I'm sure The last set of brilliant Lexus / Toyota Main Dealer supplied rubbers weren't of the same quality as in earlier times . previously a set lasted 3/4 years and 30/40k miles .. the last set I bought from the Main Dealer only lasted a year ... they dumbed down on quality methinks but still, unjustifiably, charged a huge premium quality price Malc
  13. usually buy in pairs of the same size for mine these days ....... not from Lexus tho' ...... both rubbers are different lengths of course ...... gives a spare blade for the next time around Malc
  14. OMG no, if ever I went that fast my backside would be there before my front ! On the very rare occasions there's passengers in the back then that would be an issue ......... no space here for another car tbh ... even my old and ancient 1932 Triumph Southern Cross Sports Tourer has to live with my nephew ........ and no, I didn't buy that from new either Just got a bit of a " bug " about cars when I used to own a used car garage and loved driving around in stock cars . I mean ordinary cars for sale . the odd Bentley, RR, Mercs, Aston or two and of course my first Ls400 some 20+ years ago ...... interspersed with run-o-t'mil Fords, BMWs etc .......... the BMW 645i was a bit of a beast tho' to be sure Malc
  15. all over the UK methinks, plenty here in Kent for sure Malc
  16. nah . should be . TERMINATOR .............. the Swiss should arrange for his 38 y/o wife and two kids a free holiday / trip to visit Kiev immediately ...... give her and their children the protection of the Russian army ............ rather than the protection of the Swiss gendarmary at their villa overlooking the lake in Lugano Swizerland Malc
  17. just out of my curiosity guys ....... what is the likely max mph and accelleration ...... 0 to 60 mph ? for the Lc500 ..... or indeed the Ls500 should one know Thanks Malc
  18. you're being overly pessimistic Ronan ...... price is only going up up up coz that evil terrorist is still Tsar of all the Russias ..... reading a few of his " close " KGB ( equiv ) guys have been despatched so it's quite likely some will get close enough to pop a bullet in his head and dispose of this terrorist and then, with it, fuel prices will return to some sort of normality I'm quite sure Have faith that evil will go ............. and fuel prices will go down too Malc
  19. Shafiq, you've resurrected this thread for me ................. did you ever buy a Ls ? Having a rear slow puncture I thought, wheel/tyre re-sealed the other day £20 ..... the operator was exceedingly vocal about my V8 4ltr Ls400 at such an age and mileage ....... telling me that a buddy ? of his, local, has an awesome Ls600 but just cost him £700 for one suspension corner whatever ......... never get that on my old and ancient but still brilliantly serviceable comfy powerful and quick Ls400 eh ! Malc
  20. the art will be to source the " how it gets there in the first place " and stop it somehow Malc
  21. possibly but life's enrichment with teenage fun was, of course, paramount and never to be repeated ......... and those days lost would not have really been well compensated with cookery skills methinks Malc
  22. hahahahaha........... methinks the only one's offended by the politics joke of Poo Tin is Mr and Mrs P and their young kids living in Switzerland right now ... Lugano they tell me, villa overlooking the lake ......... opulence abounds for them even in dear old neutral Swissieland ............ sorry i digress, now where's those other quite acceptable jokes please everyone ... summat needs to make me and us all laugh these days .......... pleeeeeease Malc
  23. Philp Harben ...... never heard of him .... or I'm getting soooo forgetful I know just checked him out on wiki and nope, never heard of him . didn't watch too much tv in those days . i was constantly " loved up " as teenagers are, or were in those halcyon days ..... and had more useful and fun interesting things on my mind .. thankfully Malc
