we are meant to be chatting about the Ls400 not the later and wholly unattractive money pit of the Ls430 Malc https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=654733171&location=&zip=91123&listingTypes=used&makeCodeList=LEXUS&modelCodeList=LS400&state=CA&city=Pasadena&dma=&searchRadius=25&isNewSearch=false&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D91123%26listingTypes%3Dused%26makeCodeList%3DLEXUS%26modelCodeList%3DLS400&clickType=listing

bumped into another Mk3 M reg owner last week at the Walmer Deal Antiques Fayre and we chatted a little and he's just spent £750 at Lexus changing the starter motor ..... he's had his car many moons too and now at 109k miles .... same colour as yours ............... he's had a Ls400 for 23 years too he told me ...... lucky guy eh ! About the same time as me These Mk3s really are brilliant but almost worthless ladies ( of distinction ) and deserving of a little tlc and preservation methinks Malc

yes I think so ..... I'll pop in to see him in the week to book her in My concern is the spraying over and lacquering to " blend in " when I know the original paint finish is so blissfully brilliant ( Aspen Green ) and I don't really want that " blended in " but Cest le Vie ..... the colour matching will be needed after 27 years of sun fade etc I guess Malc

Take another swig of a delicious single malt methinks ...... good for an awful lot of ailments too i believe Malc

I'd be inclined to simply phone your local NFU place / broker / NFU Office and ask them outright what their process would be in these circumstances I understand the NFU are exceptional with their Clients and will pull out all the stops for a super customer experience ... and I'm not being flippant here, my niece works for NFU and this is their professional ethos ............. unlike other brokers I have direct and unhappy experience of ..... those Fluxie Aids guys ...... YUK 😭 Malc

I've just had a quote from said to be the very best " car correction " guy on Sheppey at Sheerness ... to rid me of all the rust and holey crap on my offside rear wheel arch ......... £400 / £480 depends how much blending spraying needed he tells me ....... just having spent £250 on my wheels refurb and earlier some £360 on the fabricated new front exhaust box thingy .. seems a never ending " money pit " BUT tiny compared to almost any other car on the road, let alone a Mk3 of some 27 years youth Do I remember correctly ? that the front exhaust box from Lexus ( when it was last available ) was about £6/700 pre-fitting ... unavailable now they told me at the time Am I bonkers spending my dosh on this " money pit " of a beast ........ with the quietness of a churchmouse my 4ltr V8 and at a blissful 240k miles just turned Malc

I would tentatively suggest parking her on the Lexus Main Dealer forecourt ....... after close of business today of course ......... methinks they would pronto sort the problem for you Monday morning .. and probably for free maybe Malc

£163.9 here at Morrisons for E10 ............ but they must be itching to jump it upwards of course why can't she have all her pension pot then ? has that gone awry somehow ? Complain to the authorities whomsoever they might be ........ I'd want baked beans with it too of course I won't trust anyone with any of mine bar Black Rock .......... globally run with about $15 trillion I believe and quite well too ............ all these middlemen taking their cut, don't believe in it at all ............ ah ! . is that HSBC you mean ? Nope never with them at all . just those slimey dastards these days at ...........NatPest . icide I had a wonderful banking career back in the Good 'Ol Days for sure when bankers were honest and credible and honourable and just nice people to deal with and to be trusted ....... long gone those halcyon days methinks sadly .......... if i could find one I don't know I'd have the energy to throw one ........ never find an open branch to get to one ......... Malc

best to remember that bondms bought a 2001 car brand new and at that time I would think the technology potential failures just weren't with the car from the factory I'm thinking later cars with issues might be arising from simple teccy electronic stuff upgrades that make all cars more susceptible these days .. and stupidly expensive to fix and to maintain Malc

hahahahahahaha .. no it's ok really ..... i too was one of those impossible bankers back in the day ....... too much money to burn ( ah why say that ) and now a toxic promoter by selling airline tickets and all that benign toxicity BUT NOT on Wizzair ever again coz they are starting to fly to Moscow ( YUK 😭 evil basta-ds ) Anyone in my business that sells Wizzair tickets will be summarily dismissed I assure you ...... and they know it too Malc sorry i digress yet further
-
sorry, my aged finger slipped and i pressed " GO " before i finished ..... now, the added 1p off for the Tesco points too so does anyone have the contamination , climate change degradation figure for Chernobyl, Fukuishama and the upcoming Ukraine Nuclear power station that's going to explode and cover much of South Russia too ....... killing a few million more Ruskies I'll warrant ........... it's these figures alone that might just outweigh any problems coming from my 4ltr V8 and other car emissions Can we have that figure please from someone somewhere do you think ........ it's quite important methinks Malc
-
ah the Stockbroker Belt ... you should be paying more .. you, you, ........... wealthy bankers and the like ............ E5 164.9 here at tescos and 1

Lesley hi and welcome to the Club has anyone given you alternative quotes ? and for all elements needing replacing or just certain parts maybe ....... does it all need replacing ? and at what mileage etc Malc
-
none for sure BUT exactly the same as if being nationalised then all the UAE oil stays there for the benefit of the shareholders anyway .......... the ruling Emirs ....... oh, and the global oil majors doing the extractions, their Balance Sheets etc ................AND the people of the Falklands will be immensely wealthy individuals no doubt But sadly the " functioning society " rarely functions well ! and the dysfunctional society and both privatised and nationalised entities are so dysfunctional too There's no easy answer I'm sure Ah I know ......... ask Alexa Malc

Talk sensibly with the energy companies, global oil and gas providing companies too that provide stuff into the UK ......... tell them you're limiting their UK profits AND sale prices to ensure their end prices to the UK consumer match £XXX for howsoever long ....... ( there's a UK Govt Fuel Tax issue here too to be addresed in conjunction of course ) I'm best guessing this has already been done and just awaiting the declaration of the new Prime Minister to take all the gory glory of the results already achieved but not yet announced ...... there's a prelude to this some weeks ago when Rishi announced, just the once mind you, that the public would be paying no more for their energy when he became PM ..... this has never since been repeated, except by Sir Keir just the once too ........ I'm thinking it's all been agreed, done and dusted BUT held in the Top Secret Drawer until next week ........... with smacks on the hand for Rishi and Sir Keir too of course ......... before public beheading on Tower Green to encourage them and all else to keep schuuum Let's see eh ! Then see where this gets us before talking of Nationalisation etc which of course we know just never works in reality Then encourage the Falklands and Brazil to begin sensible measured development of their indigenous oil and gas fields ............... to flood the world once again with cheap energy .. but from a " safe " source Malc

Yes absolutely , so why isn't industry and Govts doing the necessary research and commiting to this properly one wonders ..... I KNOW coal power stations can produce clean emissions, it's been done, just that no Govt wants to take it forward Absolutely NOT ..... far from blase about any of this BUT I do believe the Climate Change Brigade is causing populations around the world much misery in denying the need for better energy production and usuage styles to help those and OUR society to better and cleaner usuage ....... gluing oneself to the tarmac and diverting Emergency Services away from real peoples needs is just abhorrent in my mind I'm afraid that cremations of humans is within the Hindu religion and 1/5th of the worlds population won't be swayed by a non-starter of an argument to desist from the UK population ........ no matter how well meaning BUT there's simply not enough ( yet ) of non fossil fuels generation to meet the societal needs for simply economic " living " .... and about to cause immense hardship in society in general .. foodbanks or nay in the UK Malc
-
there's plenty of non-polluting renewables ... just simply not enuf of it at all ...... and in the meantime the energy supply pricing goes thru' the roof and people die for want of inexpensive energy .......... now's surely the time to enable fossil fuels to be used more .... and but more sensibly ...... to bring the cost down and to simply save peoples lives and mental health ...... and the NHS I'm reading too super cats might help and surely they can be produced and kwikfitted somehow ............ job creation .............for the 22 million cars needing this level of tlc no doubt BUT of course we KNOW that cars are but a tiny smidgen of the overall pollutant problem I KNOW that clean washing of coal powered power station fumes / smoke emissions is quite possible and already invented .... just that the " Green Brigade " have decided that coal ain't no good eh ! Climate Change ............. really doesn't have to be the blame name for non-renewables being used Malc
-
concur ...... that's why I say to burn them super efficiently to ensure those pollutants are just NOT created ............... I can't see any useful reason not to burn non-renewable fossil fuels ( oil and gas particularly ) just so long as they don't allow pollutants to emerge and be the cause of Climate Change It's not the use of fossil fuels, it's simply the mis-use of them that's the problem surely !
