In think I started replacing my UCAs at about 150k miles with the BluePrint brand having very poor longevity at 42k miles life and the final original ones replaced with OEM from Amayama at about 210k ? miles or thereabouts ... and stamped Toyota in their packaging Thus I thought 80k might have been a tad light on longevity No good me ever having a modern car eh ! Malc

Have you looked at the specifics on the Ls400 section of this Forum ? There's a top section about unexpected debilitating issues that your normal indy mechanic might not think about Good luck with it all Malc
-
I guess so .. provided he didn't think he could just jump on his bike and cycle across ........... as so many would eh ! Malc
-
it's such a pity that longevity, just 80k miles in a 15 year young car causes such wear and tear BUT fixing it all is good, and economic I hope, to take your magic carpet ride forward for a good many years too Well done Malc

I'm thinking traffic volumes 43 years back might have been a tad less than today ??? I can remember the log jams in Westerham kent, the A25 back in the day .... and then mid 80's ( 43 years ago ) I guess, standing up at Titsey ( yes there is such a place near Kent / Surrey border ) seeing just where the band new M25 was going to be ............... oh for those glorious days where traffic volumes were just tiny and there never was a battle between cars and cyclists, nor motorbikes and even those motorized pedal cycles that I remember Mr Plod had too BUT today we have total intolerance from time to time by ALL road users .. let peace reign please and if cyclists wish to do battle with cars and trucks well, good luck to 'em I say .... who dares wins unless you're vulnerable road user taking a chance that tolerance prevails in the light of your intolerant behaviour ..... cyclists are vulnerable and can easily get crushed and harmed, helmet or nay ....... so no good complaing about it . Highway Code Law won't protect a cyclist in real time use and with bad behaviour Malc

and where does it say anywhere that cyclists are allowed to overtake cars etc .............. on the inside ? Malc
-
no idea from me ...... sorry Malc
-
seeing that was mentioned in the MOT Advisories 3/4 years back ! She looks a nice car . the Mk3 is my favourite too ... only had the Mk1 and 2 prior Well done, she could last you for ever if treated nicely ...... have u checked all the stuff out on here about the Mk3 issues ? there are very few but maybe worth reminding yourself sometime .... she looks good Malc

sadly classy Bentleys come with huge classy maintenance costs too .......... fortunately your Ls460 maintenance costs will be tiny by comparison AND you have all the comfort and presence too Whilst on age you could expect issues like this it's quite strange at such a small mileage ................. would have thought your suspension issues etc might not come to bear until approaching 100k miles tbh Malc

I'm always reasoned and balanced and welcome the further reasoned and balanced responses advocating the severest punishment available upon all cyclists when caught running red lights .. this won't of course apply to all good law abiding cytclists .... just the cyclist law breakers commiting heinous crimes ...... go4it, punish 'em to the hilt I say Making it much much safer for us dear old motorists Malc

when I was a lad we had a coke boiler in the kitchen working 24/7 to not just heat the kitchen and much of our ground floor BUT also to heat the hot water tank directly above in the bathroom ...... uninsulated of course coz in those bygone days the heat from the tank warmed the bedrooms too in winter ah, those bygone happy cheap energy days .......... we're all so cossetted these days methinks ........ put on another jumper and get a scraper to get the ice off the insides of the bedroom windows in the morning Malc

elmexicano hi, you have reported this to the police and presumably now have a crime number ? .......... I quite agree with John's thoughts above ....... it seems a relatively trivial matter in car bodywork issues in my view BUT possibly not to you eh ! It looks as tho' it might just polish out ... but if it's one of the most important objects in your life well, you've " paid your money ( to your insurer ) so make's your choice " methinks Malc
-
then just be a tad cagey and explore the Q with your insurer............ just in case ....... for the future ! Malc
-
save us from using and buying the energy ............... simply by TURNING us OFF Malc
-
my Saga comp insce does actually cover vandalism with ZERO affect on my NCD .............. so they say Maybe just check out your policy details Malc
-
I'm jealous of ....... you ............... probably not having some infirmity ....... and like me having to use my Blue Badge from time to time Malc
-
not at all . my annoyance was with the cyclist who broke the law knowingly and unremittingly and would methinks continue to do that until someone stopped him ....... maybe dead in his tracks Malc
-
yesterday a cyclist tested my patience .......... me and a Q of cars at the red lights ........ cyclist just dashed up our inside (s ) and zipped thru' them ..... nothing coming BUT hey I guess it's a well known fact that cyclists can make up their own rules of the road eh ! Malc

I was thinking to raid mine for the 1967 Wolseley 6/110 at the Poole auction too .. but if your pension fund had been available to me that would have been better The Ls400 above seems darned good value when one sees what some of these " chancers " are asking for cars on Autafraider ......... maybe that sale price " out the door " was about right sales commission seems to be 10% plus vat Malc

I think you might have a teccy glitch perhaps ! Malc

yes I do BUT I was just wondering the benefits of running 99 octane when it's from " not a Morrisons 97 octane " pump ! Malc -
with the possible advantage of a cash pay-out and leaving you with buying it back as a Cat N ............. if it's a " keeper " for you of course My Saga insce write-off resulting in my now cat N was coz of a rear door smack at Saga repair estimate of £1500+ .... duly " sorted " satisfactorily for me, tho' of course not a brand new door as there just aren't any available anywhere Malc BUT of course depends if it has to be an insurance claim .... as in my case where I unhappily smacked a Porsche ( well deserved eh ! ) or if a 3rd party might be covering the cost .

it's odd that Barons don't have the facility to check achieved prices BUT maybe it's a tad too early for them to have got their act together after an auction on Friday but on the other hand i can't see how one can check the achieved prices for any Barons auction With SWVA auctions at Poole tho' the results from Friday's auction were on-line by Sunday . I was checking for a Wolseley 6/110 that I had the " hots " over Malc
