  1. Perhaps it was purring at the experience rather than whining ..................... :outforcount: Malc
  2. I remember I eventually won with the insurers and got £2k for my write-off 1994 Mk2 with 42k miles, thru' March to June 2010. It was a struggle. This one might be a tad over-priced, has the cambelt been done I wonder at 88000 miles and 10 years ownership ! If it was £1k then I would say grab it but at £1750, well, maybe if it's absolutely outstanding and everything is up-to-date, like the cambelt. And I do prefer my Mk3 too. Malc
  3. It looks a smashing car .............. .. as do many others that belong to LOC guys especially as they really take very little trouble to look spankingly wonderful machines, whatever the age Malc
  4. Suspect you might get away with a donor car at well sub £500 Malc
  5. On one of my LS400s the coolant level in the reservoir perpetually dropped to an inch below the marker BUT it didn't ever seem to drop further, and when topped up again just dropped to that level again BUT stayed there. Odd I know but you just might not have a problem that's worth worrying about, just maybe keep a beady eye on it. Malc
  6. Maybe because the secondhand tyres had more experience, bedded in a little ......................... Malc
  7. I don't know if it's correct or not BUT I heard ( from somewhere ) that the puncture ( non deflate ) preventative stuff does actually mitigate against having the tyre actually repaired following a puncture. Malc
  8. Just a tad of useless information from me. My last Mk2 LS400 I bought from a car dealer in Windsor, who had just sold the private plate from it BCA 3 he told me for £15k, probably to someone to do with BCA I guess. Malc
  9. I used to use a section of broomstick in olden times with my first Lexus Malc
  10. All 3 of my LS400s Mk1, Mk2 and Mk3 have run at slightly different marks on the temperature gauge and they have all performed impeccably. Malc
  11. Does it actually say anywhere that the reading should be exactly at any point I wonder ? Midway might just not be the ambient running temperature maybe. Malc
  12. Bluesman hi .......... .. I think they have gone one stage further now ......... it's policy never to repair potholes Malc
  13. The Falkens at Treadmark Tyres in Canterbury are £94.95 per corner fitted, valve and balance ( and disposal ) incl vat. Malc
  14. Probably worked perfectly ... the driver just has to drive appropriately I surmise ! Malc
  15. This pre accident indicative sensor, inside the space the bonnet side of the radiator I believe ! ............ my son-in-law is a car body sprayer and a LS430 460 or 600 ( I can't remember which now ) they had in with bonnet damage cost £7000 to fix, with the pre accident sensor that was damaged being £4000 of that cost ! Malc
  16. Presumably this delamination doesn't occur with the LS400 ? I've never sen it ! Malc
  17. Wow, that's probably the neatest LPG filler I've ever seen. Malc
  18. My personal historic knowledge as an honourable car dealer and trader ......... getting Trading Standards to act tho' might be a bit challenging unless he is a prolific miscreant ............... . they usually have too much other stuff to do the maxim " buyer beware " is the best way forward ..... as ever ! Malc
  19. If you buy from someone who purports to be a private seller and the simple facts ( historic profile ) are that the individual is a trader, then the same rules apply as if he IS a Trader, therefore his disclaimer wouldn't hold-up in face of Trading Standards and in any event HMRC would want to know Simply he is obliged under the law and if the vehicle is over £1k to buy, then he IS a Trader and his legal liability is as such. Malc
  20. I'd have thought a saving of £450 and you would have a very happy trip to another part of this beautiful country and knowing the time had saved you loadsa dosh too. Malc
  21. Mike, I suppose you're lucky that you didn't damage the post and the pub guy wanted restitution ! Also, on a more useful note ............ if you don't get sorted just think about putting your experience of dopey attitude by the publican and customer upset, on Trip Advisor ! Malc
