  1. That can't possibly be the end of the solutions !!! Why not investigate feet controls ..... the stalk controls being transferred to the footwell somehow .... there has just got to be someone with a similar problem and whatever the Society might be I would have thought they would have come up with a sensibly priced solution Malc
  2. I've got this notion that replacing the waterpump and tensioners etc probably on the 3rd cambelt change at 180k miles for the series Mks 1 - 3 ................... ( cambelt change at 100k miles on the Mk4 ). Unless of course there are signs that they need replacing sooner. Malc
  3. Did I read somewhere on these forums that most LS400s never have radio codes inserted but if they do it relates to the VIN number ( on the windscreen ). Malc
  4. Thank you guys for finding it for me ......... now down to doing something positive with these Saga guys !! the saga continues :shruriken: Malc
  5. I think I saw them quite inexpensive somewhere recently BUT they are very prone and the next kerb you touch when parking, well, you know what I'm saying !!!! Malc
  6. Tell me guys, have we now found a really inexpensive solution to the LS430 air suspension problems ?? Thanks Malc
  7. On all 3 of my Lexii the plastic tray has " vanished ", twice before I had the cars and once it just fell apart as I parked the car one day.......... and never been replaced .......... no harm has ever occasioned. Malc
  8. LexIS200sport ............ it's the Nissan Pathfinder diesel that definitely requires the cam chain changing at 60k miles, often that's just before it puts a hole through the engine ........... a common and known and Nissan acknowledged ( by the dealers ) fault !! ................... and it's a £900 job. Malc
  9. I just refill mine when the amber warning light comes on, divide the mileage covered by the litres put in, mutliply by 85 and often realise that I could have motored another 80+ miles before I would have been really empty. On a bad day it's 425 miles per tank full, but on a good day, and with easy gentle soft driving, or constant 80mph driving, the tank has returned 500+ mptank Malc
  10. Looks nice, wonder if the cambelt has been done ! Price looks ok either way I would say. Malc
  11. Freefall, nah, just market forces maybe right now !! And if they can do the job in 3hrs, wow, that's good methinks. Malc
  12. Me too the other day with a 13 plate Merc sports thingy ......... 115 on the straight up to ..??????? bridge on the A..?, easy pickings for me really, before he chickened out and dropped into the nearside behind me ! Malc
  13. I paid £3750 Dec 2007 for my Mk2 M reg 94 LS400 with just 8572 miles too .................. what's it really worth with those dreadful wheels I wonder ? £1500 maybe, the mileage is probably genuine but would need a cambelt change if it's not been done, so drop £500 off my suggested price for that perhaps. Malc Am I being too harsh ?
  14. I remember years ago driving a Toyota in South Africa and being advised to use a higher octane fuel at high altitude........... to save " pinking " I think it was. Is this the same today ? would one use a different octane fuel in the LS400 driving into the Alps or wherever ? Thanks. Malc
  15. plastic surgery for a new ear might be cheaper !!! :shutit: wait a while tho', someone with another 430 might respond with a more practical solution to your dilemma Malc
  16. Hi guys, there are threads on here referring specifically to the corroding aircon pipes on the 430 ....... it might be, if I remember correctly, that the rear aircon pipes are probably best just blanked off to protect the national debt ...... I'm being serious here. Malc
  17. The chains on some cars do actually SNAP !!! My nephew has a Nissan ( whatever, big bugger ) and the chain has to be replaced at 60,000 miles :megaangry: Malc
  18. I'm afraid I shan't be able to join you and the others there, sorry, it would be good I know. Malc
  19. In all my long years with cars I have never even thought to change the PAS fluid. Don't think I've ever seen it on a service schedule either Malc
  20. When locked, mine tends to occasionally go off if the ambient temperature when parked is too hot, if a motorbike vibrates past or a truck bounces past ............................ and there seems to be absolutely nothing I can do to prevent it happening !!! so frustrating. Malc
  21. I think we are all hooked on our LS400s on this site ............... I would be hard pressed to ever want to change. Malc
  22. That's probably the main reason why you were able to buy it for a song at the auction ! Pop it back there and let someone else enjoy the challenge. Malc
