  1. Sounds amazing value to me ..... I had mine done on a Mk1 and I think it was just about an all day job ....... very unlike an ordinary car timewise Malc
  2. As mentioned before, my 1992 Mk1 didn't have an adjustable steering column .......... and the tyres were a different size too . 195's if my memory is right. My 1994 Mk2 did however Malc
  3. Should have said that the glass in the mirrors moves BUT the mirrors themselves don't, apologies Malc
  4. Hi, long time since I had my 1992 Ls400 BUT my memory might be playing tricks on me ............. The steering wheel isn't telescopic The mirrors aren't moveable electronically either........ your hands do the moving ! The dash needs soldering in the circuitry ..... Chris Vince on here is the expert to do it for you if you're not able to repair yourself. He's on here and lives Farnborough Hants way, You can take your car there and he will zap the dash out, fix it and re-install and not very expensive either................. all the while feeding you coffee. Let me know if you want his number Other than that I can't remember much about my 92 car, other than it was BRILLIANT Welcome to fantastic motoring Mark Malc
  5. My 11 years love affair with the Ls400 started with my garage buying a secondhand Ls400 " in " to trade/retail out for a profit, couldn't sell it ( not sure I wanted to really ) ........ I kept it and ran it for years as my personal car and today here I am on my third ............... :hohoho: From potential commercial avarice has come years of pleasure ......... it's good. The next owner of THAT one just might keep it for a good long time and simply ENJOY ( even the trader might if he doesn't sell it ) Malc
  6. Guess the Tax Disc Holder will be a collectable too ........... on-line road tax from next October is it ???? Malc
  7. Best wishes to you all and thanks for all your help this year ( and past ) :hohoho: HAPPY CHRISTMAS Malc
  8. " nothing lasts forever " ........................ blimey, was sure thinking my Ls400 would !!! it had better, my 1932 Triumph is still going strong so why not my Lexus ............ anyway guys and gals, on my 1000th posting HAPPY CHRISTMAS Malc
  9. ****, a double benefit cheat ......... just goes to show :arrrggg-matey: Malc
  10. I think I remember reading that the HT leads one replaces every 180k miles. Malc
  11. I think maybe an important issue ( on here in past subjects ) is the simple fact that many Ls430 doors have significant rust issues which, if you catch it within 12 years of " new " Lexus have been known to actually replace the doors under warranty ! Rot from within and often only manifest externally bang on the 12 year warranty expiry. Malc
  12. Which Lexus are you considering buying ??? and why that model ! Malc
  13. My Mk3 alarm is fine now ..... I did have problems with low vibrations going past and setting it off ...... removed EVEYTHING from the centre console, solved the problem. The mechanic guy is figuring out how to remove the sensor from the console area so's I can re-use the storage there. It was a bugger for YEARS until his buddy with a 1996 LS400 told him how ! Alarms can be sooooooo frustrating Malc
  14. In my time, olden days I guess, if the car seemed carboned-up one just belted it down the motorway and that shifted all the crap .... happened a few times for me on various cars, a big Volvo and a old 3 series BMW come readily to mind .... they just " flew " afterwards. Malc
  15. I use mine every day too, it's there to be used, not mollycoddled methinks ......... the g/f has her own Mazda and I enjoy driving that too ........... sporty little manual gearbox thingy......... Really enjoy driving but only do about 10k a year now ...................... must have driven nigh on 160k miles in my 3 x Lexus Ls400s over these past 11 years or so. There really isn't any other way to drive. Malc
  16. Everything on Jags is complicated, always was and probably always will be .......... and they break down too !! Malc
  17. I think in olden times the MOT tester used to prod the rusty looking area to determine the extent of the corrosion and if the prod went in it was getting near to being a warning that repair was needed. Now I believe they aren't allowed to prod and therefore all and any looking rusty areas get a mention. Most " rust " like ours probably isn't anywhere near to being needing to be repairable and mostly, for cosmetic purposes, can be wire brushed and painted over to " protect " the areas concerned. Unlikely we have any " proper " rust at all if the truth be known. Malc
  18. I'm just asking ....................... is there any structural corrosion there ? Are you getting an opinion from someone who knows ? maybe it just looks bad because anything that looks a bit rusty often strikes fear into the minds of us. Malc
  19. Might a light tap on the console nudge the bulbs into working ???? worked on my Mk2 Ls400 a while back. Malc
  20. Could be difficult then if you weren't personally in the CCTV footage at the time of the incident ! Maybe no obligation to hand it over to you personally BUT surely they could to the police investigating the incident ? Malc
  21. Was it that long ago, I remember that posting ............ memorable looking car Malc
