  1. Thank you, I shall endeavour too. The French rules seem to have changed ........ spare light bulbs don't seem to be compulsory, maybe coz with many cars one just can't change bulbs simply these days.............. And the breathalyser thingy has been abandoned too so I read. And in Spain it's only Spanish regd. cars that have to have two warning triangles BUT if you break down and need one, you are fined ( if British ) if you only have one and not two ! :outforcount: And for Grand Touring at its best. We drove 2888 miles in 15 days in September 2012, just touring Scotland ( there and back from Kent ). Twas brilliant and the car, of course, performed effortlessly ........... as one would expect. These really are Grand Touring cars Malc
  2. Maybe they are Ls 400 breakers too, no bad thing with that sort of specialism ................ and selling the best of what they have. They might be good value too, but only feedback will tell us that............ maybe you will some time soon ???? :outforcount: Malc
  3. Thanks for that. The Ls460 is rare here too ................ I've not seen many at all. The 600s are even rarer. The 430's, well, maybe seen as many now as the older 400s. I can imagine that with lower country population levels, although probably less economically challenged, the numbers seen in Holland and Belgium might be rarer still. A rare breed indeed. Looks like I shall have to stick to my trusted Mk3 for a long time to come. BTW, just off ( 3rd March ) for a grand tour of Spain, driving down thru' France and back, spending March and maybe early April primarily touring Spain ...... never been there before, an adventure ............ don't doubt my trusted steed will do the honours in the usual fashion too. Malc
  4. Brian, are you able to let on as to why you went straight for the 460, bypassing the 430 ? Malc
  5. Brian, my thoughts mirrored ............ I've really never had much financial costs incurred with my Ls400s. They are really one of the least expensive cars to maintain and keep on the road. On the other hand my partners Mazda 323F ( now 20 yrs old ) always seems to be needing an exhaust section every few years ....... but wow ............. her son-in-law has an ordinary bog standard 05 plate Peugeot diesel estate whatever with 80k miles .... just needed an ECU at £950 and two weeks later the turbo has blown and they want @ £1800 to sort it out !!! Think I'll stick to my now elderly Mk3 eh ! :outforcount:
  6. I s'pose one day I shall have to move away from my Mk3 . ( I have had a Mk1 and Mk2 and been driving Ls400s for 11 years now ). The Ls430 scares me with the tales on here, so I guess it might be a Ls 460 ........... or maybe a 600 but those hybrid battery thingys frighten the life out of me with the probable replacement cost. Hope my " staid " Ls will last a few years yet eh ! Malc
  7. Blimey .................. £690 to fix 5 tyre valves and set-up. Ls400s ..... 5 tyre valves about a tenner ! Malc
  8. An air suspension issue maybe ? Malc ............................ expensive too perhaps !
  9. A few years my then Mk2 had to have a replacement windscreen under insurance at Autoglass and I saw the pro forma invoice ..... £600 or so I think ! Malc
  10. I was going to leave mine to the 180,000 service, about 3 cambelts worth in mileage value I thought. With such longevity of waterpumps i doubt many owners ever get to see what a worn one looks like ! Sorry I can't help Malc
  11. I've done it TWICE with Mercs,..................... and all as already ( much earlier ) confessed to on here m'lud ! Is it just Mercedes drivers that we have to show who's boss !!! Malc
  12. just throw it outta the window !!! .................... as if Malc
  13. I find that a consistent 80 mph returns about 30 mpg too .................. not usual on the M25 though Malc
  14. Don't forget the dipstick has two marks, one for cold and one for when it's warm fluid Malc
  15. I've just gone with a new one: MARKERSTUDY ....... took over Zenith and local to me in Kent zillions cheaper than SAGA ( ******* ) Malc
  16. Looks to me as if it's on a car lot ! West Malling is just round the corner from the Paddock Wood car auctions too. Looks ok though, probably picked up for a song at the auction. Malc ( from near there in Kent )
  17. brilliant, love the colour combination AND it has MOT till next year ! Looks great ..... i want it Malc
  18. Hey, wotdoya mean ......................... it's ALWAYS sunny and bright when I'm driving the Lexus Malc
  19. no, it's not that ..... I have had this happen twice to me in 11 years of Ls400 ownership. For some unknown reason, at any time of the day, from cold, the engine started with an excruciating 'orrible noise but THEN after immediately stopping, leaving to rest for a few minutes, everything was back to the usual sweetness. Put it down to the gremlins living in Kent Malc
  20. I remember, maybe 12 years ago, driving a customers Toyota Camry estate, huge and dark green ....... fabulous. ....... was it a 4 ltr too I wonder ? Malc
  21. Pepe, you're in for the 1.8 million mile challenge then !!!! :outforcount: Malc
  22. and whichever you have u know it will get to 900,000 miles ! maLC
  23. I just popped into the Lexus / Toyota spares dept and they had them on the shelf...... just the rubbers tho'. Malc
