  1. Thank you guys ................ what size diameter copper pipe is appropriate do you think ?? Thanks. I'm useless at doing much these days ............. but I know a man who does ( hopes ) :outforcount: Malc
  2. ps ......... 160k miles now and everything else is fine ..... noticed a slight drop in fluid level just before my trip to Spain and topped up about a half inch ..... then absolutely fine until today !! Malc
  3. Hi guys, just got back from a short run and had to pop into halfords to get some ps fluid to top up the reservoir, noticed when I got back home a pool of pa fluid under where the car stood. Seems to be coming out from under the front bumper area, leaking along the pipes just above there. Any ideas ?? Thanks. Malc
  4. wow, is that something like £70,000 off the new price then ??? 5 yrs old and 24,000 miles, wow, the poor first owner's depreciation is mindblowing !! Malc
  5. ........................... and whilst we are all still young enough to enjoy them Malc
  6. I don''t know about the Lexus satnav BUT get so frustrated when I'm told on my g/fs satnav that I've reached the destination and I know quite clearly that I HAVEN'T !! ( rare but it does happen ) Malc
  7. you've been a valuable member and contributor here for 8.5 years ................. when I'm faced with negativity I ask myself not why I shouldn't be there but WHY I do want to be there ......... and if that outweighs the negative aspects then for crying out loud just STAY ! negativity is so often paramount and all consuming, just turn it around to look at the positive instead and hopefully you might come to a different conclusion ...... just reflect. Thanks Malc
  8. ............... and maybe as your Ls600 gets elderly .................. trade " up " to a Ls400 only joking ! ( or am I ) Malc
  9. Lexus Caen sound excellent, well done them. But you do have a complicated car with so much weird and wonderful electronic wizadry ............ oh for the simplicity of life ( and my Mk3 ). Hope it all works out ok for you, do let us know ............ btw, I used an old fashioned book type road map when I was in Spain !! Malc
  10. On my Mk3 the standard Falkens are just fine .... 225/60/16 ......... . and at £100 a corner " all-up " Malc
  11. for what it's worth, my two pennyworth...... Amber merely made a simple non contentious one liner that supported entirely the comment of another member. If one was of a frame of mind to look for malice aforethought then that one-liner could have been misconstrued, I didn't and accepted it at simple face value and with zero malice or contempt. I'm with Amber on this one. but what would i know, I'm NOT a Victor Meldrew but have had lots and lots of contention and contretemps in my time and understand how picky some minds can be. Let's just put this all to rest and move on please. Nowt comes of harping on over silly issues, let's all learn from this and always read the " best " into situations and statements ..................... rather than the opposite. Malc
  12. Practical solution maybe: just pack it with bluetack or similar to hold it and to absorb any vibration ! Then if you do manage to get some brackets make the proper repair. Malc
  13. looks like an unused spare in the boot on the 2nd one. What's the tyre make do you think ? Malc
  14. Rear sub-frame heavily corroded ....... can't be surely with a '97 at 78000 miles ..... is it just surface and cosmetic ?? If you find a solution to the " mind of its own " alarm system do please tell ! Thanks Malc
  15. " What the future holds for the Lexus brand is never going to match what the LS400 brought to us but like everything else ,nothing stays the same." ................... unless you hang on to and love and cherish your own Ls400 for the rest of time !!! It just might be possible you know, I think I'll try with mine ....... better engineered and technology and bodywork construction than many an older classic that is still around and roadworthy today ......... like my 1932 Triumph Southern Cross sports tourer, one of only 8 roadworthy worldwide ................. coz all the others have rotted to buggery methinks and nobody thought them worthy ( at the time ) of saving the marque from near extinction. Malc Malc
  16. My Mk3's got to, well, at least another 25 years till maybe I give up driving ( maybe ! ) What's the chances do you think ??? Malc
  17. Mine's 1995 and I was on here with my Mk2 .... not sure the forum was around when I had my Mk1 tho' .................... there's enuf I'm sure. Malc
  18. I don't know the Is200, ............... my Ls400 was just the small separate expansion tank ......... cap, there wasn't one on the radiator, well not that I ever found anyway ! Might not be your solution but it's worth having a look. Malc
  19. Maybe, just maybe ...... on my Mk1 Ls400 many years ago it was the expansion tank pressure cap rubber seal that had started to perish................... a new cap was the instant solution, inexpensive fix, just £6 then I think. Malc
  20. Extending sun visors on my Mk3 too ...... wonder if the same was on the Mk1 and Mk2 !!! All these years and just found that out . Thank you guys. ............... all I need now is some sunshine. Malc
  21. Hugh, hi, I only by chance got my first Ls400, about 12 years ago now, came as a trade-in on my car sales site and we just couldn't get anyone to buy it !!! a J reg Mk1 ........... so I decided to use it for my personal transport and WOW .......... never looked back and now quite afraid to even move onto a Mk4 ( with the vvti engine issues ) ............... all 3 of my Ls400s ( I had a Mk2 too ) have been BRILLIANT cars and the very best all round that I could have ever hoped to have driven ............. probably about 200,000 miles now. ................. made me one of the happiest motorists in the kingdom :) ............ for 12 years !!! Malc
  22. or a Ls400 ..... preferably an old one with a couple of hundred thousand miles on the clock and with a newish MOT,, they are around and probably no more than the cost of your replacement steering wheel issue all told !! Malc
  23. ....... or give it to me to spend for you !!! Malc
