  1. the checking of the oil level at cold or warm or when hot could make a difference ..........as does the going down hill activity too ......... but assuming you're needing to sort out the greater isssues arising with your specifics then ......... ........... there's of course the option to mail directly to either or both of these two last posters just in case they aren't visiting this post to respond Hope you get your mind settled soon on all this Best wishes Malc
  2. and the brick wall cost £££££ to fix ? I ask coz some months ago I knocked down a short length of low height brickwall that I couldn't see in someone's garden / driveway as I was reversing to avoid a sodding rubbish truck heading towards me whilst I was avoiding a sodding cyclist lad doing the same ........ with parked cars all over the road, up the pavements etc .. and it was on a bend, curve in the road .. didn't damage my car one jot BUT my builder cost me about £220 to sort out the damaged wall tho' ..... avoided any insurance claim ..... hence i hate dustcarts and cyclists with a vengeance these days Malc
  3. James ........ one of the inestimable joys of motoring eh ! Vent your frustration on summat else methinks ..... or take another pill ..... or both Malc
  4. Paul, have you mentioned somewhere your £20, 000 budget for all this stuff Malc
  5. couldn't live without my cassette player in my car ......... Richard Burton talking stuff mainly ........ Taming of some goddam Shrew Malc
  6. when ACLex ( used to be on here ) sold me my Mk3 in 2011 he took all the DHP stuff away and replaced with the existing springs etc ..... just to find one of the original springs he had stored had cracked . in storage . so he replaced with one new one which cost about £120 he told me ... and he was the Parts Manager at Lexus Poole at the time Your price now seems a bit of a bargain methinks Malc
  7. flat tyres ......... a few weeks ago I noticed over a week or so, getting more under inflated, rear offside .. took it to the garage tyre place and it was simply leaking around the rim ..... sorted but at £20 many years back an elderly Porsche, maybe a classic 60's car, coming off the M20 at Ashford Kent and I was just behind it, soon galloping past it as I was so close and didn't need the grief of being engulfed in his imminent flames ..... as the front end ? or maybe the rear, escapes me now, burst into flames ..... guess he stopped and did summat serious .... there were others behind us who would have had to stop and call 999 I'm sure 😈 Malc
  8. " Dents Away " ............ might sort that lot out sorry i jest ... summats got to make one laugh a little these days BUT as one says. sad to see another Lexus bite the dust . but, will it Malc
  9. I've not had an Irish one but I did buy a Scottish whisky that was very peaty ........ when I visited their distillery a long time back ......... Talisker it was Much prefer the less peaty varieties to be sure And i am a very rare cigar smoker ..... Malc
  10. ...... looks like a hanging is in the offing quite soon in your part of Derbyshire Malc
  11. Well Vlad .......... it was my first Mk1 Ls400 all those years back ....... the power steering reservoir had leaked onto the alternator ( at night ) and I had to stop having no lights to proceed Never seen a Lexus broken down since mind you does my Ls400 count ? Malc
  12. Blimey, you're hopeful ........... Ruud seems to have left the Forum 5 years back Not sure i would be having one tho' Malc
  13. bet they charge on a per minute call basis too ..... hahahahaha Malc
  14. and if you get ultra bored with that then you will become ann even better employee or entrepreneur with a new business simply coz of your lifetime experiences and influences Malc
  15. my working day is rather spasmoidic, at home, in front of my screen and on my iphone ........... calls, messages, whatsapps et al .... and i think I'm very productive at those times too Zoom and Team calls i avoid .......... don't like them at all ....but then, I am semi retired and with a full-time office working again in Delhi ............ very small staffing level though ..... they are all within a short metro or bus ride of the Office .... in lockdown there some staff did work from home too NOW . back in my full time working days an aeon ago I spent about 2 hrs each way travelling to my Office in the City . of London ... and back home again ....... and I thought that to be a total waste of time, totally unproductive and actually quite tiring .. i seemed to sleep most of it ....... I think ! ... but that was pre laptops, ipads etc Working From Home can be incredibly good and productive and worthwhile ..... I think it totally depends on the honesty and values of the employee AND of course, if the employee actually prefers that concept There's no one cap fits all methinks AND I just know that ( following Yes Prime Minister / Hacker ) reducing the Govt Civil service by 91k people might be achieved simply by privatising some element of it or indeed just retiring and then re-hiring those people into similar indistinguishable roles Can't believe for one minute that reducing the Govt wages bill by 91k people will ever materialise no matter how it's dressed up ........ Yes Prime Minister . and JRM Malc
  16. Gang you lost the plot here a little . you intimated, said , you didn't pay VED on your bicycle ............. and on that basis yes, you're quite correct ........ generally however. I think those who actually PAY to use the roads with road tax should get priority to use them ...... why not ?? the chancers scrounging road use off the backs of those who directly pay should somehow be differently charged . or even penalised for avoiding their, to my mind, financial obligations whilst wearing out our hard paid for roads Malc
  17. I should have thought to have suggested that the vendor maybe did you a close-up video walk around of the car ............. that should have highlighted much of what you've sadly experienced I did this with a guy on here the other day selling a rare Gs460 ...... his suggestion about the video ........... that showed up a little too much that I wouldn't wish to cope with ...... and saved me a loooong and fruitless 900 mile round trip to bonny Scotland Malc
  18. on your bicycle ? Malc
  19. Paul .......... there sure seems a good few RCFs around at a more sensible price than the Lc500 ....... looks a smart car too .... but the Aston Martin might well prove to be a better investment if that's what you're seeking at that age, notwithstanding the " niggles " and rare clutch ............ hopefully it's a rare problem BUT breakdowns and recoveries are possibly assured with an Aston Martin, albeit under cloaked recovery truck, whereas the Lexus you just KNOW you'll be almost 100% likely to never need that breakdown truck Good luck with your decision whatever it may be Malc
  20. there's plenty of non Lc500s about that are V8 ..... not brand new of course and possibly quite elderly BUT you coud get fabulous value for money buying an older Lexus V8 for sure AND with known reliability too of course What's your annual mileage likely to be Paul ? Malc
  21. the only ones on Autofraider are hugely more ! Malc
  22. Oz, aren't BMWs renowned as moneypits ? Many people have these dreadfully expensive experiences methinks Your compacency with the Lexus tiny costs ......... don't hanker after looming bankruptcy Malc
  23. gearbox on 240k should hopefully be ok .... mine's done 238k now .. a different beast I know and I did have a partial oil change some years back .......... it's a Lexus .... you should think to go forward with a degree of confidence ( hopefully ) Good luck today whatever you decide to do Malc
  24. new rules I'm afraid to say ... and what if there's no distinguishable kerb, nor appreciable width to the " road " ............ and in any event they're now encouraged to hog the centre of the damned road ................ it seems coz you're now advocating purposefully breaking the Law and must be prepared to suffer the consequences therefore ....... to the Tower methinks Malc
  25. to which I felt might have been a tad disingenuous .............. lucky we live in a ( free ! ) society to be able to " beg to differ " Malc
