  1. .. I don't think I'd worry too much about the mileage ...... . just go on condition and service history and a " feel " for the guy you're buying it off and if he looks the type that would love and cherish his car ! Malc
  2. ...... but it's a very low mileage ........ lots at £16k seem to have stellar miles at this age Malc
  3. ... hopes Nach can get the issues sorted for not too much dosh ..... but a bit fearful knowing what previous postings have revealed on the air suspension costs to rectify and the bummer with the steering tilt motor. Good luck anyway Nach, hope it works out ok for you...... fingers xd Malc
  4. ok, thanks ............. . looks like it's due a ( overdue it's annual ) full service and is in condition C whatever that is.......... long MOT tho' ............and it's NOT a hybrid, says petrol ( only ? ) ....... be really interesting to get a feel for the bidding and the end price too. Am I just toooooo nosey Malc
  5. Be interesting to know the outcome too ........... will you be able to look at the servicing schedule before the auction ...... just to get a feel for it's provenance. Malc
  6. Wow, can't understand why your car needs new discs every 20k miles. Mine seem everlasting ( almost ) Malc
  7. there are some interesting cloth seated Celsiors too on that website, nice silver cars and good looking wheels too ............ be nice to have the option I guess BUT damned if I know how to read the Japanese words on the displays etc Malc
  8. ..... but isn't getting " lost " part of the fun of touring in Europe !!!! I love it, then finding the unexpected ............... a sense of adventure .......... Malc
  9. ....... and it's a Mk4 too .... strange that the Japanese white looks very different from the Mk3 above. Malc
  10. OMG and it's got air suspension .............. barmy price .............. Steve 2006 ?? worth what then ............ £3k maybe ?? Malc
  11. My Mk2 died, a write-off, irreparably economically ( for me and my insurers ) vandalised by some low life ......... but I got my Mk3 with FLSH 3 yrs ago now and it's done 161k ...... but my indy looks after it and it's just a super car, my 3rd Ls400 and my main transport for nigh on 13 years of glorious motoring. Malc
  12. If it's Full Lexus Service History it would have been done at 10 years old whatever the mileage........... I remember when I bought my 8542 miler, 1994 Mk2 in 2007 the cambelt change had been done in 2004, 10 yrs, at 3102 miles. If it's not FLSH then it won't have the provenance that commands such a dopey asking price. Malc
  13. they do scrub up well don't they ..... think I've seen this advertised long time ago ............... same flooring in the showroom ! Dopey price Malc
  14. Just picked up on this thread ........... I know it's a long way from you but I had mine done at Treadmark Tyres in Canterbury, when I bought the car tho', just over 3 yrs ago now. AND they are brilliant at what they do. Very expensive piece of kit AND they have someone who knows how to use it. Malc
  15. The coolant level is a real puzzle ............ . you have just had the car serviced and the level checked in the expansion tank I presume ? .......... should be at the marker level and not really deviate from that much at all. If it has dropped then that tells me you are losing coolant somewhere ........ and just having had a new waterpump !!!!! summat not right at all ..... back to the garage that did the service and the work methinks............. is the expansion tank cap not fitting well I wonder, perished washer maybe, I had that on my Mk1 at @170k miles and 15 yrs old ... yours is a 2000 Mk4 ............. and that just might be a cause. Malc
  16. George, what are you running right now for the slipping effect in the damp ? I never seem to have any issues with mine .......... maybe it's coz I drive like an old codger, only get it up to 5000 revs once or twice a day ............... and beat up poor little boy racers in their go-faster GTi's at the lights three times or so a day too !!! Malc
  17. I'm a little confused here ................ you do have a Ls400 and not a 430 ? The 400 gearboxes are bullet proof ( ah but don't tell Shelldrake that ! ........ he's the guy with the disaster ? are you ? have I got that right ? ) and the 430's might be a little susceptible to freaking out on a bad day. Summat ain't right if it's a 400; and your garage doesn't seem to have bitten the bullet and done the core activity, sorting out the kangaroo effect. Ok, everything else is done and you're probably the best part of a grand spent ...... maybe, if the gearbox is a real issue you should seek a specialist auto box guy to advise ! Does seem really odd that this is it's 2nd auto box tho' .......... maybe it's nothing to do with the auto box at all but some electrical or cabling gremlin that no one's yet bottomed. Malc sorry, my thoughts are probably of no damn use at all .............apologies.
  18. Always as ever ....... I promise not to park it near a wind turbine,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, promise Malc
  19. Heavens, wow, it was some time ago now, possibly about 1998 maybe. I know that the wind turbines were installed after 2005 on the Romney Marsh, we were trying to get the builders to use our facilities for storage of the hardware prior to installation, and that was from Dec 2005 thru to June 2007. I think they were on farmer Clifton's site, just outside of Lydd. The tome would no doubt have been archived by the developers or whomsoever. Rest assured that I did really really read that about carcinogenic thermals and absolutely no-one was prepared to take one jot of notice of me. The phraseology was buried in the depths of the tome, a proper and officially prepared huge document, left for public appraisal ( not for discussion tho' if I remember ) in the local church. A village with a populatlon of only@500 at the time...... clearly a published paper ( maybe that was their legal obligation ? ) but with very limited public awareness .... wonder why !!! Malc
  20. Gentlemen: Wind farms and carcinogenic thermals I was a parish councillor and school governor in Brookland on the Romney Marsh at the time. The Thesis/Paper/Report was that which was commissioned by the business developing the Wind Farm and was a huge publication left within the church ( the only publicly open place ) for all and everybody to read. An enormous tome and maybe I was the only person to read it but that I did. AND furthermore that statement was duly hidden in the depths of the tome, more or less a throw away paragraph BUT it was there and clearly just accepted by planners and whomsoever. These Wind Farms are potentially dangerous places to live within/close/near to....... unless there's been convenient subsequent changes to the science I certainly won't ever do so. It's interesting the number of HM Prisons where wind turbines are situated !! Def not BS goldtop Malc
  21. OK guys, Wind Farms ............ . I know, from reading an official report that was for public consumption a few years ago before they put the 25 or so turbines onto the Romney Marsh in Kent. A short, hidden almost paragraph that said, quite simply: In the event that you live within a mile ( I think that was it, or maybe 3 miles ) then you would be susceptible to carcinogenic thermals created by the turbines movement. That is potential death inflicting today rather than an overall later effect for the population of global warming, new ice-age or whatever. And that was fact at the time, don't doubt it's still pertinent today. And I don't doubt that it is totally glossed over by whomsoever as something just " not nice " to know. Malc
  22. It's great to have a jocular debating chamber, after all, the Houses of Parliament do it every day !!! .... unless they're in Recess, when the buggers sod off on their jets and limos to enjoy the fruits of their labours spending their gotten gains on fine wine and dining and gaz guzzlers I'm sure. Ho hum ................ let's enjoy our cars whilst we can, doubtless any Govt will find a way to curtail our limited pleasures soon enuf ! Malc
