  1. I think it's BRILLIANT .......... what a way to go for what might have otherwise been a scrapper. Malc
  2. Pepe, I'm not sure of the mileage each of your cars will likely cover over the next year or so BUT if it's likely to be less than 10,000 each a year then quite frankly, if you're having no issues with performance, I'd be inclined to give yourself a birthday present and leave well alone ... at least ftb :outforcount: Malc
  3. Been shod with Falkens for many years now and they seem quite ok for me in all normal driving conditions. Malc
  4. There's lots of historical stuff on this forum about NOT flushing out the gearbox in the Ls400. .............. saving you money and preserving your gearbox by just leaving well alone ! Malc
  5. Just replaced 3 of my old Falkens with new Falkens 225/60/16. £299.23 " all up ". The 4th is only half way thru' it's life right now. The fronts did 20,500 miles The rear did 23,350 miles I'm happy with this longevity. Malc
  6. Hey guys and gals, any of you lucky people own this car .......... looks good :D Malc
  7. Ah yes, a good point about the DHP Falkens ( which it has at the moment ? )......... ..... I was thinking of the usual 225/60/16 s ( about to put x 3 on this Thursday ....... £99.75 @ all-up.) Malc
  8. Sounds like you may have a neighbour you've upset ...... or some local low life tikes ............. who's playing silly buggers, letting the air out maybe !! Malc
  9. They always look great cars with a bit of spit and a polish !!! the 4 tyres will of course become 5, it's inconceivable the spare is other than just legal too ...... Falkens @£100 a time = £500 ........... £2k purchase price will be ok for this methinks .............. he's expecting to do a deal to get shot. I too just hate it when traders / stealers spiel up the history with falsehoods and what's even worse is when some of em don't even tell you the mileage unless you specifically ask !! Malc
  10. All the best healthwise .................... SELL IT if the price is right; depreciation might knock £5k or more off the value in that time ......... the excitement of finding another one when the time is right will be GREAT ............ good luck Malc
  11. No ............................ not like that anyway .... maybe the last place you checked them had a poor gauge ............... are they old and cracked tyres or maybe secondhand ? Malc
  12. well, remembering replacing the brushes on one .................... about 2/6 d I think !!! Malc
  13. wow, that sounds really unfortunate ....... sorry to hear your news.............. 169k seems a little low mileage for an alternator ( except on a Mk1 and Mk2 where the power steering fluid might have leaked and ruined it ) Malc
  14. love it, brilliant, could almost attach a lawnmower gang to it and have some real fun ..... what surprises me, having scrolled thru' many of the Ls400s appearing for sale on that site is the vast number of offerings where the traders just don't mention the mileage on the car ........... who would even bother to look at them !!!! Malc
  15. just a thought ............. does the throttle body need cleaning out ?? Malc
  16. shame you couldn't hang out for a better and more " classic " type price. I think that's where the values will be in a year or so tbh Malc
  17. Like many others here I guess, desperately saddened to see the first piccy of the historic " G " plate very early car, a little the worse for wear :luck: ( so pleased it wasn't one of mine ! ) Malc
  18. then you will be on borrowed time Malc
  19. The Mk1, your ultimate ambition, is admirable. I too rather prefer that shape to the later ones, maybe I'm just an old classic style softie. I remember my Mk1 had 15" wheels and brakes to match, so think about that too if you really want one ............. it's a lot of car to stop at speed !! Malc
  20. still time to see sense then and change your mind !!! M alc
  21. mine too, but the earliest I could have had one would have been in 1989 I guess and then it would have been impossibly beyond my reach ............. as a new one would be today too But hey, each of those cars was brand new once and looked after impeccably too .... I don't mind others cast offs when it comes to Lexii Malc
