I had a small package from the USA recently, Post Office popped a card thru' my door ( with other post ) telling me I had to collect a package and pay £8+ ? for the Post Office service charge on handling the parcel. ...... all correct postage paid by sender BUT Customs clearance necessitated the Post Office to handle the parcel a bit differently, there was zero duty to pay btw if my memory serves me right. Not impressed Malc

But sadly it will soon develop into an actual MOT failure if it's not fixed, might take a year or two BUT it does detrimentally affect the emissions reading eventually. Malc

I shall, thanks .... since looked at another site and the Mk3 Ls400 recall for the starter motor was in Feb 1998 .......... I'll ask my local Lexus Main Dealer quite soon ! ....... ... although Lexus Hatfield replaced the cambelt in 2007 with no mention ...... so maybe it was done prior sometime. I'll ask anyway. If it wasn't for the impossibly horrendous running repair costs of the Daimler Double 6 I think I would have probably bought one years ago. There really isn't any other car that I would change my Ls400 too ........... all the other Jags are, well, just Jags Malc

hahahahaha .................... I remember my 1966 Wolseley 6/110 had walnut picnic trays with the back seats ( on the rear of the fronts ) ........ and a 3ltr straight 6 engine and it went like ****-off-a-shovel too Malc

Just a thought .............. the low mileage doesn't ring true with the amount of work done to repair. I would check each of the MOTs mileages as a starter ............... also query the gearbox issues that might have arisen from the rad needing to be replaced together with the waterpump. 101k miles with all this work done ....... summat ain't quite right methinks. Malc

Ok, these guys are NOT traders, they have a very long established showroom and garage premises.............. really good looking stock and I would actually buy from these guys and can quite understand their getting people coming several hundred miles to view this specific Ls400. using genuine Lexus bonnet struts speaks volumes about them too. Malc

Popped in to see it today, wow, fine looking beast. One 87 yr old owner from new, last service NOT Lexus. His second Ls400 tho, he now drives the family Yaris ............ at 87 not bad eh !! The garage owner has known the chap for 40 years....... very genuine 34k miles. The Ls 400 is quite fine and is undergoing replacement Lexus bonnet struts ( old age wear ), a new MOT and also the cambelt to be changed. Just can't find a record of it having been done although it has Lexus service history, just not mentioned specifically. Drawbacks ........... slight paint blemishes on the front wing mudguard, and a slight crease on the back wing above the bumper, but not broken the paint finish there. Another feature are the Dunlop D8Zs ...... they stopped making these tyres a very long time ago .......... but still MOT'able no doubt. Pricewise, well, the garage has had a couple of long distance viewers ( one from Bournemouth to Kent ) and in no rush to chip away at the £5995 screen price just yet ! As we said, where would you find another ! Malc

One rogue engine to be replaced by Toyota worldwide is less than an ant's ***** in the great scheme of Toyota costs and expenses....... especially with their Flagship limo............... ........................... so push for that replacement Malc

My indy operates from a back street lock-up in a not very salubrious part of Kent .......... BUT he is brilliant at what he does, low overheads means low on-pricing to me and at £30 per hour with no vat coz his turnover is so low, keeps my Lexus and my other car in fine fettle. Which cars he has now been keeping well and happy for me for just 7 years now, ever since I found him ..................... he's MAGIK Looks aren't everything, it's the quality of the output that counts.......... just about to pop that pack of beer in the car for his Xmas pressie Malc
