  1. guessed it might have been ......... didn't know where tho' ............ :outforcount: Malc
  2. Mine gets used every day for all sorts of driving, short, long and tbh I don't worry any more about mpg ........... just fill it up when it hits the orange and a bit ( there's 100 miles left in mine when it hits orange ) and pay the card bill every month and thank heavens I can ........ when one gets older the finer things in life matter more, and to me driving my Ls400 is of prime importance and absolutely one of the finer things in life. Holidaying with my Ls is also a great thing to be able to do and something I so, so enjoy. Good food, home comforts, Ls400 driving and that other thing that seems to develop more when one's a tad younger ........ hahahaha .... get my first state OAPension this month ........... OMG ........ now I can afford more miles in Lexii ... ah the bliss of older age eh !!! ........ and getting old quite disgracefully is good too. Malc .
  3. ..... and that's on the Mk3 too ....... !?!? Malc
  4. well done .......... so had you just replaced visibly worn out tyres then it would have passed ok with some Advisories to do over the coming months quite a good result really. Malc
  5. then there shouldn't be anything at all serious immediate to worry about, like steering and suspension stuff including upper control arms ... everything else should be a non-event ........ hopes !! Malc
  6. ........... woops ................. on the DVLA website somewhere I think Malc
  7. You do know that with the V5 etc you can check the prior MOT Advisories ? Malc
  8. hey, I think we had this discussion before ....... mine's not DHP and on 16" tyres .......... and the rear Falkens achieve 22k miles ok Malc
  9. Heavy cars do give undue stress on front tyres in general. But on my Ls400 the Falken fronts cover 20k miles ok. My suspension joints were replaced by the previous owner at about 110k miles I think ( not the upper control arms tho ) Malc
  10. Maybe take it to another laser wheel checking specialist ! Who will check not only the alignments, cambers etc but also the ball joints for wear and whatever else might show up ................ just someone with greater knowledge I'm thinking. I'm assuming they are showing you the pretty coloured printouts resulting from the checks and explaining them to you. And you're spending £250 a time replacing both front tyres ? Malc
  11. brake assist introduced on the year 2000 models Ls400 ............... just looked it up Malc
  12. my Mk3 has extending sun visors too .............. manually folding door mirrors tho' and the Mk3 foglights are in the main front cluster. Malc
  13. have not yet had a Mk4 BUT personally I do prefer the styling of my Mk3 ............... but then I think I prefer the styling of the Mk1 actually as best of all !!! Malc
  14. ..... but not if you live in Ireland where the road tax regime is said to be a bit catastrophic !!! Malc
  15. I'm lucky my EGR pipe was changed by Lexus some years/miles back ............... in the Full Lexus Service History that came with the car Malc
  16. I wish I could help, but sadly I haven't a clue how to resolve the issue you have BUT certain someone will be along soon to advise................... It's not just the needles sticking is it ? Mine sometimes does that and a slight tap resolves it all or it just springs back into go-mode after a mile or two. Presuming the dash lights up ok ? By the way, you probably now have the lowest mileage Mk3 ever !!! well done, just keep it forever won't you ??? Malc
  17. Hi guys, not found any amazing cheap quotes for my Lexus, nor my Mazda 323f which is now 20 yrs old btw... August 2014 BUT my 1932 Triumph Southern Cross Sports Tourer is on fully comprehensive Classic Insce with Swinton from Towergate and at £157.02 until Feb 2015 ............. 3 named drivers ( incl me ), £200 excess, Market Value or replacement ( only 6 or 8 left worldwide ) and at £35k ( heaven forbid there's a write-off claim ! ) ..... 1500 miles per annum and it can be used for shows etc. competitions, rallies, and trials but NOT racing and the like. The loss of NCD would worry me for the Lexus and the Mazda tbh as both these are in daily and regular use and I will probably just continue normal insce for both these come renewal ( in March I think ) Malc
  18. 2.5 years and a profit, wow, AND glorious motoring too ..... well done, maybe you'll be back into the fold one day and make another profit and enjoy Lexus Ls motoring again............. and another profit ................... methinks there's going to be some money to be made from these bombed out priced Ls600's at some time Do keep in touch ............. Best wishes. Malc
  19. But don't forget that the Lexus bodywork/rust warranty is for 12 years ( is it still ? ) and if the usual door centre rust spots appear then prior forum comments have been that Lexus WILL replace the miscreant door(s) Malc
  20. Spark plugs change is at 60,000 miles btw Malc
  21. Hi guys, just had confirmation from Lexus website query address, that my car N7GNT has had the Starter Motor recall attended to prior and no other recalls outstanding. Any other Mk3 owners might like to ask too, just in case and if they cannot trace the work having been done from the service history supplied with their car. Malc
  22. Exhaust burble / emissions leak for MOT purposes, is often cured with a simple and inexpensive welding job by someone who knows how to do it ........ cost me about £30 a couple of years ago and been fine since. The rear offside stop light only seems to last about 17 years too .............. a recurring issue, expecting my next one to need replacing in about 2030 ( it really is only the offside bulb that goes too, maybe a design fault, tut tut Lexus ) Malc
  23. saynoto0870 is brilliant,..................... usually one can get to a non-premium number. So with the import charges, it seems that we need to factor in about another £22 for charges even when the full postage/carriage and customs duties have already been paid. And this seems to apply to most packages imported then ? Rip-off or wot !!!! Malc
