  1. ... well, it's vanished for now BUT everytime I turned on this forum stuff it appeared just above the first forum subject here. Maybe it's the cookies or whatever that interrupt so much stuff BUT it's been before me for ages and just now .... it's just NOT there ...... how weird ! Malc
  2. ...... my broker said the same too, phone nearer the time when and if the mileage is likely to exceed, then there will prob. be a small premium adjustment Malc
  3. ...... strangely on this topic .............. my insurers seem to specify that if I go over the suggested likely mileage of 10k per annum then my insurance excess will increase to £500 in the event of a claim ( from the £300 agreed at the outset ) ...........btw, my insurers hadn't asked for my mileage recorded on the speedo at the time the insurance was written ! Malc
  4. .................... and it's the unfortunates that get in the way of a speeding car, pedestrians, animals and the like ............. they often just appear from nowhere ......... . don't they !! ........... today, was cut up by a loony driving his car at speed and erratically ............ . and a sticker on his back window saying " child on board " etc ................. hahahahhaha .......... it's ok for others to drive sensibly when HE has his kids in his car BUT for him to do the same, irrationally and erratically driving when others might have kids in theirs, well ............... it just beggars belief the single minded stupidity of such a driver ............... Malc sorry, rant over
  5. Mike, how so so true . SAGA gave me huge grief when I moved to my present house in 2013 and upped my premium, that I couldn't avoid, existing running cover and house move .......... by £160 and now this year, 2015, they quote me what I used to pay, the buggers, they REFUSED point blank to tell me their reasoning for the arbitrary increase in 2013 .. oh, same postcode now of course and yet another year's NCD .............. that's 47 years now I think !!! Load of shisters in my book Malc
  6. ................ mine starts at about 1400 revs from cold, quickly reduces to 1000 and idles after a short while at about 500 ish ... the rest I don't know Malc
  7. ......spose the main drawback is having to go there to inspect before you buy and then if you don't buy then a bit of a costly wasted trip ........ unless one's on holiday there I guess ............... now, that's an idea :outforcount: Malc
  8. .......... Agreed Value and limited Mileage concepts are a little adrift from the concept of Gap Insce which is simply the difference between Glass's Guide price and Actual Invoice value ...... an Agreed value I suspect will always be akin to Glass's Guide .... but I may be terribly wrong of course ! Malc
  9. Gap insce is not really for classics which ur Ls400 now is ..... Agreed value for classic Insce might also be an eye opener for you ................. u don't get No Claims Discount each year and even if it's agreed value it's likely to be kicked in the goolies in the event of a claim. They will find you summat similar at not much dosh or fight you to the end of the earth not to pay a sensible ( to us ) sum. My 1932 Triumph Classic cover is not much cost ( £157.02 I think ) and it will be at market value in the event of a claim, that's the best I could get out of them tbh ........ and there's only 8 of mine left worldwide so if I do have a write-off heaven only knows how little they will eventually pay out ......... just don't trust them to do what you might expect.when the chips are down for you. Good luck whatever Malc
  10. .. excellent, well done ........ . I lost track of the price tbh ........... how much did you pay in the end.? The Mk3 is a tad better than the Mk1 and Mk2 ( as one might expect ) and could last you for ever if you wanted. ..... I think mine will for me Yesterday I was parked alongside a very fine looking 89,000 miler J reg ( 1971 ) Rover P5, wow, what a beauty. ( personal experience, not so great to drive etc, maybe it's the elderly technology .......... or lack of any ) Hope my Ls400 is still going strong at 45 yrs old ( the car that is, well me too, I'll be 90 then ............. aghhhhhhhhhh !!! ) Malc
  11. ..... run your Ls400 for a while then and consolidate ................... before you pay out more good money for summat that is unlikely to be up to the mark Often best to just chill out with these things and reflect .............. ... life's too short to get wound up over a car tbh ..... it's draining Malc
  12. Graham ............ think you should let this calm down a little, sell your Ls600 and get yourself a reliable Ls400 ............... you will be sooooo pleased, calm and contented for the future Malc
  13. .... then there's the impact on his next year's insurance premium ............. Malc
  14. .............. used to be, I think, 100+mph an automatic ban unless extenuating circumstances etc Malc
  15. ..................... your new seat cost what my car cost me 4 years ago !!!! ( had you had to pay for it )
  16. ....... ah the bliss of a 20 year old Ls400 ................... totally stress free Malc
  17. ........... if I remember correctly the key black fob had that small white button just on the upper edge ........... mine never worked remotely while I had the car and I always locked it on the door ( central locking worked ok tho AND it was alarmed too that way ) ... one of the idiosyncracies of my Mk1 no doubt Malc
  18. hmm ............ he might well have allowed you to insure thru' his business protem too !!! and used his trade plates more fully. Malc
  19. ........ yep. we've seen this a while ago now AND the owner still hasn't responded to my offer to travel a few thousand miles for him doing my suggested Route66 trip this month !!! Malc
  20. .... it's ok ........... it's an Italian Merc and the guy wielding the weaponry works for Alfa R :nuke:meo Malc
  21. ........... but the Crown estate has a 2.5ltr Yamaha engine !!! ............. the saloon is a 3ltr engine Malc
  22. welcome to the LOC, someone here will be able to help u soon I'm sure. Your car looks brilliant for 26 years old. Wow, your car is 1989 u say, a bit different to UK models which had the foglights separate from the headlamp settings as in our Mk3's here, similar to yours....... and you have air suspension too, wow, a copy of the Celsior range of Ls400 then and which we only had in the UK on the Ls430 onwards....... and often troublesome too Best wishes Malc
