  1. it's probably good marketing to get you ( and others ) as a captive client ..... cheapest and most direct marketing and hoping you would extend your happiness on this Forum too Malc
  2. why burden yourself with all this nonsense ! Malc
  3. I've never had the undertray fitted to mine since I bought her some 11 years ago .... my previous 2 x Ls400s had the Undertray ok tho' ...... not sure it's absence is too much of a deficit ........... makes for a slightly lighter load and improved mpg by a nats whisker no doubt Malc
  4. and mountains of legroom in the back for .................. those skinny insects ...... maybe very thinny kids Looks quite stunning but I doubt I'd even get myself into, nor afterwards, out of, those front seats BUT wow £100k eh ! Malc
  5. ............. maybe ask them to send you a close up walk round video of the car ? Might save a long wasted trip ....... and all that petrol too Malc
  6. reading various reports lately of steering wheel theft from staionary cars . mainly BMWs I remember with ridiculous steering wheel technology worth a fortune Not the same as a rare Ls400 tho' with tiny technology at the actual steering wheel .... wouldn't recommend you get one of those stolen to order ...... I'm sure finding that rare 98 Ls400 would be more challenging than a common old BMW eh ! is the wood one a rare phenomenon anyway ? Malc
  7. AND I have bought, said to be British stuff, from time to time and it's actually of Chinese origin ..... crap or not sorry to digress ...... Nicholas ........ you seem to have made your mind up about not going to coilovers and I trust you are aware of the members on here who have made that change and are very satisfied too ..... I have no personal experience as I have a Ls400 .. just going from my readings here over many years Best wishes with whatever you decide is best for you Malc
  8. only of use paying that sort of money if you're going to " save " the car for high days and holidays . short very very careful trips to totally preserve the miles and any exorbitant value you think the car is worth I can never understand why one would want to buy a fantastic driving car to just leave it in the garage ....... life's too short .. unless you're rich beyond whatever and just want to look at the car ....... £5k tops remind me please when someone finds out what it's sold for ! Malc
  9. may be the next generation of EV from Lexus wil be the magic Nio type to just swap the rechargeable battery in minutes at a typical petrol filling station .. and woosh . off ya'go Malc
  10. latest situation I'm covering on the speedo not working section hereunder . going in to these guys Monday 6th June and back with me 8th .... new fabrication of necessaries, using existing good cats ...... £300+vat they tell me . let's see how it works out Malc
  11. just ask WBAC to get some sort of idea maybe ..... or a local auction house or indeed Mathewsons as on TV BUT are you in Ireland ? that might make a difference ! Malc
  12. what might this have been on the 2019 MOT Advisory do you know ? Malc Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories): Offside Rear Valve stem slightly damaged (5.2.3 (j))
  13. many many years ago when my Mk1 Ls400 had the alternator pop from the power steering reservoir leak, on the M20 motorway at night and in the rain ... the One-Time breakdown truck that came to rescue me arrived very late ..... his lame excuse was ............ " my brand new breakdown truck broke down as I was leaving to come to you " ...... had to laugh .. a little Malc
  14. at that moment in time YES, for sure . but permanent, well, only time will tell ...... and mine, at 27 years young, well, it's all about a little guesswork, wishful thinking, occasional dash thumping and a prayer ... self-healing sometimes, even if it's only until the next Event ...... makes for good reading on here tho' I'll get the exhaust sorted before i go down the route of spending out even more money on a more permanent and hopefully new lifetime fix for the errant needles .............. then it's wheel refurbishment too ... @£450 or so .... will this expense ever end Malc
  15. youshould be banned from this Forum speaking like that ......... it's unholy and ...... makes me shivver ......... she MUST make a million miles ......... Malc
  16. ... not sure why you're wanting to pop maybe £1000 into the repair and the time-out whilst it's being quite professionally sorted ...... if all you're really really wanting is the above Malc
  17. clearly a very much greener vehicular solution then than our V8 petrol beauties ??? Malc
  18. must have a service file a foot thick ...... everything bar bodywork must have been sorted at least the once and some of it probably twice ...... and now due for it's 3rd time around maybe ...... wot a car ! Malc
  19. little update here ... the rev counter isn't quite so " bouncy " as earlier ............ had a call to re-visit the exhaust guys as sourcing the box thingy is challenging and they wanted to inspect again and measure up for summat bespoke if possible .......... challenging but he knows how to achieve it all .... fabricating it, cutting, bolting, welding ? clasping bits together .......... and hands in prayer too maybe .... and using the existing good cats of course ......... booked for me to drop it in Monday 6th June and collect Wednesday 8th ........ a good half day job he thinks and £300 + vat A good result methinks . provided it all works out ok .... no rush as MOT isn't till end of the year .. I'll update of course Malc
  20. and the move to Hydrogen Power should be hastened I feel Malc
  21. shame it's had that knock BUT as above, a little tidying will make it look better . if all works fine, lights and all and there's no wheel touching the arch ? ....... then just a little wet-n-dry to rub it down and a touch-up of primer and a quick blast with the right colour spray - can ........ maybe £25 for a DIY OR to a local bodyshop and spend lots £££££ more with hopefully a " professional'ish " finish 14 years young with 140k miles ......... insurers won't worry about writing it off as it will be your EXCESS that's going to be deducted . so maybe just think that's how much you might wish to spend on her without going thru' the insurance I'm supposing the lampost is unharmed ? Malc
  22. and of course if you reverse out of your drive you might'nt see that errant cyclist dodging past you ................... and in a Lexus you are, of course, allowed by law to " get 'im " Best wishes with your purchase ... she sounds probably an OK car to have and to own, to love and to cherish ... of course Malc sorry i digress from some other forum posts about cyclists ...........
  23. Paul, that could be the start and I thank you .............. you can then see how ropey my ancient steed looks in the flesh I'll give you heads up when to put the coffee on Malc
  24. you're doing amazing stuff you know where are you in Lancashire ??? When i come visit my cousin in Kirkham I'll happily swan over your way for your ministrations with my " dead " aircon .......... now then, when was I last visiting her .... must have been several aeons back Malc
  25. Oh my !!! would they really fit my '95 Ls400 ok do you think ? any thoughts on the on-going maintenance of the chrome effect ? or indeed how effective the existing chroming might be ? isn't real chrome banned these days ...... so might they just be a plasticised look-a-like do you think . sorry, never asked so many what could be simply stupid Qs ..... or just have my existing refurbished at @ £ 450 incl vat they tell me Malc
