  1. ...... I know ACLex from here, whom I bought my car from 4 years ago now, replaced some rear ball joint stuff at about 120k miles I believe. I've just replaced one front UCA at 174k miles for this MOT No MOT Advisories on anything at last month's MOT Malc
  2. .. ok, so by now you will have had your test drive ....... how did it go ?? Malc
  3. ......... would be a good trio ............ . Evans, May and Hammond Malc
  4. ........... I'd be happy to pay for both if they look in real as good as advertised. The money asked is quite small for such wonderful late Ls400s notwithstanding you might have to pay for some servicing and wear and tear costs additionally .......... surely £2000 all-up for a late Ls400 is going to be money well spent if you're a " holder " of the best car ever. Malc
  5. ..... 170000 miles sounds about right for some suspension parts to be rejuvenated ..... nothing lasts forever, not even the worn parts in a Ls400 ............... any lesser car would doubtless have had much suspension stuff replaced at least twice already and coming up for it's third or fourth offering Malc
  6. ..... can you give us a web link to it on the dealer's forecourt, that might help in our thoughts ! Malc
  7. .... the existing 20 y/old caps were fine ? wow, that is good ... and their mileage ? Malc
  8. ........ am I going nuts or haven't we seen this car very recently on LOC ?? Malc
  9. ............. if it's just the usual culprit on the exhaust system that's rusted through and needs fixing, well, it's quite well documented on this forum somewhere that it's a really simple ( if you know how ) welding fix which my indy guy charged me £30 / 40 to sort for the MOT about 3 ago now. ..... ( NOT £300 to £400 ) Others have had the same issues too and resolved similarly and also there's one LOC member that paid, I believe, £600 to Lexus for a new part !!! Malc
  10. .............. on my Mk3 ALL dash warning lights are lit when turning the ignition on but immediately vanish when starting the car. Malc
  11. ..... could be utterly pointless pursuing the lad legally to make a financial claim ...... if you win and awarded funds then if the lad has none you will get nowt and have your own legal costs uncovered too .............. as I suggested before, talk maybe with the lad's dad upfront and get him to open his chequebook !! Malc
  12. ..... pictures would be nice and some idea of the issues with the car that's costing £400 in bits please. We have an unhealthy interest in all these things at LOC ................. thanks. Malc
  13. .......... so far as I'm aware all Ls400s have a complete S/S system ( apart from that niggling tiny bit that needs a £30 welding job after 18 years ) Malc
  14. ........ Keith, if my bodyshop guy in Ramsgate way is any good to you I'll gladly give you his number ..... he might be able to fix your bumper for very little money if you ask !! Malc
  15. .... 25 years then ........... and you can then downsize to a Yaris or summat similar Malc
  16. ..... well, I do think the Mk3 is the better of the stable .... but I would wouldn't I Malc
  17. ............. these are well documented issues with the Ls430 ..................... now, the Ls400 is a totally different story Malc
  18. ..... I think your feat of endurance and success is brilliant . undertaking such a momentous task ..... Now I guess there's a good deal of appreciation for why changing the cambelt etc with a garage is so darned expensive. When I had my Mk1 " done " , many years ago now, the local garage actually took one whole working day to achieve the end result even tho' the " book hours " then by Lexus was only about 3hrs or summat Malc
  19. It's a 10 year old car approaching the need frora cambelt change ( maybe ) .............. I wouldn't get too excited, it's not at a bargain basement price and at auction might struggle to clear half the asking price tbh Malc
  20. .............. always used to just pop off, for an hour or two, the back covers from headlamps in olden days ( when I was young ) just to dry out the innards, moisture etc ..... then they made everything sealed up forever and impossible to easily remedy............ that's advancement in technology for you Malc
  21. ..... why not just go see the parents ?? ................ if the father has a reputable business he will be horrified at his son's actions Malc
