  1. ..................starter motor was a recall on the Mk3 and usually these have been fixed and should last about 200k miles I guess; the pas leaking, well, on the Mk1 and Mk2 it can drip into the alternator and bugger that up and I know that happened on my Mk1 a long time ago now............... frustrating at the time, but it did take 160,000 miles for it to happen !!! .......... not seen any rust yet on my wheel arches or windscreen surround after 20 years tbh. Oh and I forgot with the Ls430: delamination of the double glazing ( £500 a window ) and rust on the driver's door ( and I have read here, on the boot lid too ) both of which if you get to Lexus before 12 years have elapsed they will probably replace under the warranty. Think I'll probably pass on the Ls430 at this time Malc
  2. ................ just can't see the point in worrying myself over potential major issues like: air suspension, mild steel exhaust, gearbox and rad issues, steering rack going kaput ............... otherwise I'm sure i would think about buying one. NOW, maybe a good, well looked after Ls600 might not go amiss though ...... pondering on that one ! Malc
  3. ............... there's huge sympathy for Ls430 owners on here .............. from all the Ls400 owners who want to stay that way Malc
  4. .... mine's 20 years old and doesn't make any noise at all Malc
  5. .......... Joe, the best european grand touring car you will ever find ....... from amazing personal experience Malc
  6. hahahahaha ............... that itch might cost you lots of dosh in the end !!! I can't fathom any sensible reason why I would want to be changing my Mk3 for any other Ls400 tbh ............. but I am an oldie now and not keen on too much change in life unless it's spectacular ( like maybe a brand new Ls600 if someone gifted me it and covered 10 years expenses too ) Malc
  7. Mk3 heated driver seats rarely function whatever the Mk3 ....................... fix the aircon if it worries you, change the tyres sometime and run it for another 10 years ................ probably trouble free and little expense ! ............... assuming it's done less than half a million miles Malc
  8. can you tell us more about your existing Mk3 please ? Thanks Malc
  9. OMG .... flatlined ........... they've all been scrapped before 1996 apart from a solitary ONE ......... these figures are CRAP ..... even I can guarantee that I still have my Ls400 auto and that it's 1995 maybe there's a more useful source of data somewhere ? Malc
  10. ... when I had my Mk1 I remember never being able to use the remote locking at all, a fiddly button on the side of the key, BUT central locking and all else worked fine. Malc
  11. ........... how are the wheels the wrong way round ? ............. so far as I can make out they only fit one way and are a bit different being early Mk1 too. Malc
  12. welcome to the LOC Mark, you're a member of one of the most exclusive clubs in the UK and you will enjoy a possible lifetime of fantastic motoring with a most amazing car. Malc
  13. hahahahaha,,,............,,,,, everything is for sale, might be that the current owner doesn't know that yet but I'm sure it would be ........... just wonder what the price might be !!!!! Malc
  14. ............. thank you for this, aren't we guys just so privileged to drive such fantastic cars ................... now, will the g/f let me buy her this one !!!! Malc
  15. Michale ............. " When in silent electric mode the car does also take people by surprise.......... " In my Ls400 I find the same often applies when I'm slowly driving behind pedestrians in the road too ...... and mine's of course all petrol !! hahahahaha ............... the " silence of the lambs " maybe, always was / is a wolf in sheep's clothing so as to speak Malc
  16. ... a little rich in price methinks ............. . being picky now, but with two even minor paint blemishes and an unusable spare wheel ( tyre 17 yrs old ) ............ at that price i would want absoloute perfection !!! Malc
  17. ................... do you really think the police would bother, generally, as it's in a supermarket carpark maybe !!! Malc
  18. ....... I suffer the same lowlife debris thing here too but I go clear it up as it's on my patch, facing me on the town quay here in Queenborough ................ such a shame to spoil a nice environment but hey, don't get me going on litter and the lowlife leaving it ! Malc
  19. so sorry to hear of your hit and run experience, it's so devastating ....... same happened to me with the Mazda last year, actually watched the huge van reverse into the drivers door while it was parked so I went chasing off after them on foot ......... they paid cash in the end for the repair but I don't doubt for one minute that they would have just " legged " it given the opportunity !!! Malc
  20. ........... looks very smart with that piping too ....... and a Lexus cambelt recent change ..... not a bad buy maybe :outforcount: Malc
