  1. ........... I used to find it brilliant when taking my late dear old mum local shopping, opticians, hearing aid shop, pharmacy, bank, post office etc etc just to be able to park on a double yellow outside and feel a little smug .......... with her blue badge of course ............. and when she was about 91 then . and a few years prior too ( and in a wheelchair often ) Two proverbial fingers to the traffic wardens gave me a sense of a little empowerment, reversing the usual feeling. Malc
  2. ..... you mention having a full body respray ......... I would think very carefully about this if it was my car !!! ........... the Lexus factory finish will be almost impossible to replicate. I would be inclined to localise any simple tiny paint repairs only. If your existing paintwork isn't good then it might have already had paint repairs done which haven't been done to exacting standards. My 1995 Ls400 has original paintwork and still polishes up mostly like a virgin from the showroom ( now at about 177k miles and not garaged at all ) Malc
  3. ... has he tried to move his car yet ( or is it a she ? ) Malc
  4. ................ well, if Lexus diagnosis can't solve the problem what on earth can !!! Presumably you have been to the very best independent AirCon practitioner you can find ? Malc
  5. .. then I presume the road tax for the Ls600 is zero ? being a hybrid ! Malc
  6. ah, seriously now, ......... I remember seeing something like this on my Mk1 ages ago and I thought it was a protective end to a seat metal runner maybe Malc
  7. ... wonder if it's the same with the Ls460 and Ls600 then ? Malc
  8. ......... this is the reason I'm told one can do 70mph + 10% + 2 = 79mph before you will get stopped for speeding on the motorway. The Highways guys allow you 2mph over the " real " speed limit before they worry about catching you. Malc
  9. .. this has been reasonably well documented on here somewhere,. Maybe if you look up Johmthetourist forum posts you might find what you are seeking ( correct me someone if I'm wrong please ! ) Malc
  10. ................ I think you might find the air suspension is prone to just collapsing when it is due to go !! From what I read on here ....................... I'm lucky, I have a Ls400 Malc
  11. ............... wonder just how much he paid after tax rebates etc for the Irish Ls460 ................... £9k might seem a lot !! Malc
  12. ... then there's always the experience we have had on here about buying directly from Eire where these cars are amazingly better value than here on the mainland ... have a look there and check out the posts about the tax sparing savings that can be shared by a UK purchaser and Eire seller. especially with an incredibly weak euro and horrendous Irish road tax on these cars. Give that scenario a go, you might save thousands and get a really great car Malc
  13. ......... sledge hammer to crack a nut comes to mind here ................ just coz of the challenging aircon you're prepared to let the Ls go !!! Amazing Malc
  14. Blimey, there's tousands and tousands of 'em ! BUT only a very few thousands though over the whole lifetime of manufacture Maybe that's why there's so few LOC members with them, they are comparatively rare and exclusive. Malc
  15. ................ can someone please perform the " miracle " of ascertaining just how many Ls460s and Ls600s there are on UK roads ............. then we can judge if there should be more owners on this forum ! Malc
  16. ... blimey, that price seems especially dopey methinks .................... starting point would be sub 50% of that figure if i was looking for one AND I would want to factor in a £1000 budget for servicing and cambelt and steering rack potential issues too ...... let alone taking a flyer on the air suspension staying all ok for at least a 12 month. seems amazingly expensive . there'll be another along quite soon !! How does it price compare to an equivalent Ls460 at the bottom end I wonder !!! Malc
  17. ............., you'll be very brave buying this car without a service for 3 years ......... it's well documented on here about the pitfalls ... and huge benefits ... of buying a Ls430, especially a 10 year old car. I wouldn't worry too much about the initial servicing schedules tbh as you really need to start over again. . and you'll probably need a replacement Lexus battery ! Suggest you check the last 3/4 years MOTs and Advisories ( you can do this on-line with the right reference numbers etc from the owner and logbook ) and only buy it with a new full MOT from a garage you're happy with too in the circumstances. then go get an estimate for a full Lexus service and then a comparative from an independent. At least then you'll have some idea what you're letting yourself in for Unless of course you have intimate knowledge of the car and it's owners for the last few years which i suspect isn't going to be the case. BUT you should buy it if the price is right and the cost of getting it good and proper on the road makes it a bargain .......... you will never experience a better ride etc than in an Ls Malc
  18. .............. and there's me popping in to Wilko today to get another 5 ltrs of 15 / 40 semi synthetic oil for £15 Will I ever learn Malc
  19. ,,,,,,, the Ls400 is beautiful to drive and park too ............. was parking for a meeting Wednesday evening in local town at 7pm. A tiny space on the roadside between two other cars parallel to the kerb ( and outside the police station too ) popped the car in there ok, got out and was walking to my venue when a lady said how amazed she was that I could park in that space .......... I told her the 6/8 inches either end was ample for me to negotiate especially as I had been parking these cars for 14 years............ when I left my meeting at 8.15 all the other cars had vamoosed. ( when parking like that I do ensure that other drivers have a good enough space to move away from me to negotiate leaving their spaces, just in case my car gets a hit.) Malc
  20. .. and then there's the N reg one at £2795 ................. spend a few bob on yours and you will have appreciation of lotsa £££££ Malc
  21. ..... looks ok for £600 squid, and the newish MOT................., wot's not to like !!! Malc
