  1. yes ........but only 2 HP or maybe 4 or 6 with the Mail Coach ......... I'm presently running on a few more tho' with my 4ltr V8 ........... any idea what HP these EVs say they have ? Malc
  2. yes so they say ...... just pull in and like petrol refuelling time ......... simple action . just swap the battery over for a recharged one .... seems to be the common EV system in Norway I'm reading and embraced rather fully too .. just a few minutes effort to achieve another 500 miles of EV power If it comes here, and it's bound to surely ........... I'll certainly consider the option for any replacement car I buy for my Ls400 Malc
  3. and yours is 2 years younger than mine ... and I only ever really noticed the " worm " a year or so ago Malc
  4. my 1995 Ls400 V8 limo then ..... zero stress ......... with anything ........... and 0 - 60 in 6.9 secs ( still ) one day I'll maybe move to something more modern ... when Lexus aspire to the Nio style of EV with recharging the power battery ... none of this hideous cables running all over the driveway, garden etc .... for those that even have one ! Malc
  5. on my Mk3 the only rust bubbles I have ( or ever seen ) are on the offside exterior rear wheel arch at about ---- Midday to 5pm'ish ...... all else, on the face of it, even after a good hosing of the inner arches all round, reveals nowt of even surface rust it's the sod-ing rust on that front weird mild steel exhaust box that's now got to be sorted and it's going in for fabrication of a new box and bits at a local'ish specialist sports exhaust centre to deal with ................... with a half day booked in for next Tuesday 7th at £300+vat they tell me ( taking her in Monday to collect Wednesday so thay have all the time necessary should hiccups arise ) Malc
  6. and my amazement continues that our revered limos are still around at 21 - 33 years of age when almost every other marque has long since " bitten the dust " and gone off to make baked bean tins I'm quite expecting at some stage to face the horrible fact that the old gal will end up totally uneconomic to keep going .......... through rust maybe ?.......... or some silly event can write her off willy nilly thru' bad driving by someone ( in a Beemer maybe ) at any time .. indeed mines on a write-off Cat N status and fully restoring her rear doors that have wonkyness wrinklies from slight smacks makes total restoration a bit silly at her now 238.5k miles and probable tiny value ......... but until that final " smack " happens ..... and who knows if or when it might, or never, I live in hope that I've got the luxury of my almost zero value limo for a while longer I'm not worrying too much about pristine appearances for sure Malc
  7. Gordon , a month since you posted ...... any news ? Malc
  8. Hugh ................. it hasn't ( silly ) air suspension then ? is it an Original DHP from brand new at the Main Dealer do you know ? Malc
  9. for those interested in hybrid battery repairs . I do recollect here somewhere a piece identifying a well versed and contactable Hybrid Battery repair business It might have been mentioned long back in my much earlier post somewhere thinking about the comparisons twixt the Ls400 -430-460- and 600 and the batteries costing a staggering £15k maybe I didn't take too much notice of it as I'm firmly just old school 4ltr V8 petrol with an emissions scandal going on right now Malc
  10. Hugh, a very fine looking specimen and at a brilliant sensible price in this market ........... wish you good fortune in selling to a discerning and appreciative buyer Malc
  11. Posted March 15, 2020 I think both the LS 400 and LS 430 are lovely cars. I got a beautiful LS 400 with 80000 miles on it (now only 83000) and had the car dinitroled, the only problem area is the inner wheel arches, which I only discovered last week. I am having them professionally sorted, which involves, rust removal and then plating and welding, painting/rust proofing and then job done. This car is worth this expensive work being done as its sills, floorpan and other areas bar the inner wheel arches are mega solid. I would have advertised her this week as I have another dream car in my sights but will not sell until I get the car in a position that I would be happy to buy same. Mike, whilst idling away on here I found this post from way back from a GUEST the only mention of inner wheel arches i ever remember seeing Malc
  12. I'm way ahead of this sat nav game ............ never had it in my car, moved on from an A-Z Atlas and local printed maps which were just superb ( of course ) and gone straight to my iphone and google maps ............ which work a treat ( usually ) and FREE to use .............. and global too maybe ?? Malc
  13. is the car going to get road used too ? Malc
  14. Have they rotted through or is this just preventative longshot maintenance ? or salvageable with filler etc maybe .......... if it's just preventing ingress of water ... road water splahes and floods maybe ? Malc
  15. is this new BREXIT exit stuff for real OR A JOKE ? kg / gms to lbs and ozs and ltrs to pints .... and fuel pump gallons ...... and I suppose we'll see a proper return to mpg too BUT I do wholly concur that the illustrious CROWN is to be returned to 1 pint glasses ..... and half pints too ? Malc
  16. that original posted car is still for sale at £16995 on Classic Cars site ............. On Autoraider I'm seeing " Honest Trade Dudley " stuck with what looks like a reasonable Ls400 at £2500 ...... your thoughts please ..... he's had it for a very long time and clearly he needs some dosh at this price ( maybe ) Malc
  17. Welcome to this amazing helpful and usually articulate Forum ................................. however, it's usually lots of £££££ to fully resolve your issue Others with Ls430's will advise I'm sure the simplest and most effective ££££ to follow ........... there are many posts on here concerning this issue when searching ....... it's not too uncommon .....................There's other good helpful advice too about preventative maintenance with an Ls430 Best wishes with all this Malc
  18. Toby, just mentioning about regular issues with the Ls430 change the radiator every 100k miles / 10 years to avoid destroying the gearbox with water ingress ? cambelt waterpump pulleys etc are also due every 100k miles issues with air suspension sometimes ..... if you're unlucky .... BUT the first two are quite essential Good luck Malc if you pop the thread into the main Ls430 forum posts you'll get more people looking and helping you ............... ask a Mod to pop it over maybe !
  19. excellent choice of big V8 car for you ...... the Ls430 could last you for ever, tiny mileage really with any issues sorted my daily user cars over the last 22 years .. in addition to my gf's cars too ....... her's presently a 2006 Honda Legend mine Mk1 Ls400 Mk2 Ls400 Mk3 Ls400 since 2011 and now on 238k miles previous cars for many years I used from my secondand car sales business from Saab to RR to WRX to lots of other marques you have to enjoy all you have in life ...... it's important Malc
  20. Mike, hi .... Ive never heard of this before ......... what could be the issue with it ? Can you even get hold of one ? Malc
  21. good the car's back with you enjoying the Essex climate again I've no idea what to say that might help you in your " mission impossible " but I'm sure someone here with some good idea will shout up shortly ....... fingers xd Good luck Malc
