  1. ....... my Mk3 from ACLex on here in June 2011 has proven to be an absolutely BRILLIANT car ....... and hopefully will so continue for decades to come :luck: :outforcount: and I think it's covered some 55k miles in that time too ........ 181600 miles now Malc
  2. looks good value ........... and of course there's the brilliant Mk1 in pearlescent white that looks gorgeous and at little money I would say ....... EXACTLY the same as my first Ls400 too ..... how tempting is that ! Malc
  3. ............. why do they lie, even the mileage is a year's worth of motoring adrift ! He should be banned from trading Malc
  4. ... maybe I didn't see it on the road after all and it really was a total write-off, and at about 41k miles too, shame coz it was such a low mileage beauty ................ 8542 miles when I bought it in Dec 2007 Malc
  5. It disappeared off the roads in Oct 2008 with 185,380 miles on the clock. Mike. Bluesman hi, could you tell me the fate of my Mk2 too ............ M470HWO ... it was a write-off in my ownership through vandalism BUT I did see it on the roads a little later and after I bought my present car from ACLex ( on here at the time ) Thank you. Malc
  6. ....... thank you .......... at the end of 2007 I had just moved and I happily gave it to a then tyre sales buddy for his elderly father to run till the end of his driving days ...... it was due a 180k service / cambelt change / 4 x new tyres AND a lady had just before I gave it to him, smacked the nearside rear bumper and it was hanging loose ( as they say ) ..... the power steering pump was starting to leak and the bodywork, where it had prior repaired damage, was beginning to slightly rust through ( mainly on the doors ) I thought it was time - to -go and bought myself my Mk2 Ls400 Malc
  7. ,,,,,,, can't view it, it's vanished, probably coz u have bought it ! Malc
  8. .... my first Ls400, a Mk1, was pearlescent white ............ J54DAP .... wonder whatever happened to it ! Malc
  9. ............... amazing that with the effluxion of time ( that piece was written in 2005 ) the only differences I would put are that he has considerably understated the benefits of owning and running the Ls400 Mk3 ....................to some degree .................. Malc
  10. .. those side strips .. when my windscreen was renewed under my insurance the insurers wouldn't pay for the side strips unless they were non re-usable ( they could be re-used ok ) because the cost for each strip was a staggering amount of money . I can't remember fully, it's posted here somewhere, but I have a thought those two strips cost £150 the pair and only available from Lexus and they only had a few left in stock ........... Malc
  11. ............... I remember in years past when the central locking ( on my then Saab ) used to malfunction in the presence of nearby office block positioned telephone masts .......... long time ago now, pre Ls400s and maybe 15 years ago. Malc
  12. ..............no satnav on mine ( of course ) .... but use the g/fs TomTom and it's brilliant, especially all around Europe too ( not sure why it's called TomTom with a lady's voice ! ) Malc
  13. you could always find a good local independant garage/mechanic who is familiar with these engines and get them to fit it. ........... needle in a haystack comes to mind ! Malc
  14. ............. the Wolseley 6/110, straight 6 engine and used to be as sweet as a nut !! Bit old aged now ........... . I learnt to drive on my father's a million years ago and I actually bought one in the 1980's but it died ! Maybe prefer the Vanden Plas 4ltr R But the least expensive of them all .................. would be a replacement Ls400 ... and much much better too Malc
  15. HAPPY CHRISTMAS to all you guys, have a good and safe one and may all your joys be not only of the Ls variety ...... Malc
  16. hahahahaha ......... my business partner in Delhi calls mine the " Tarzan " car Malc
  17. .... my tyres wear at different rates !! ....... always get 2,000 miles more from the fronts ............ Malc
  18. ............ Insurers and Write-Offs, cat C etc .................. if my experience is anything to go by, the insurers will write just about any elderly Ls " off " for even very very minor damage ....... as they will ONLY repair, under insurance, with new Lexus Original parts ............. and that puts just about all of our cars, including older Ls600s now I would surmise, at write-off, to be repaired without brand new OEM stuff and thereby Cat C etc ...... or am I wrong here in my thoughts guys ?? Nothing stopping us buying our write-offs though and having them repaired locally ...... and accepting they are Cat C etc Malc
  19. ..... I have adjusted to the boot not being able to be opened with the engine running .................... and with ordinary tyres ( which I have ) just not using it in snow and ice ( coz it does it's own thing ) ...... but as a Grand Tourer and cruising car whatever, whenever and wherever, well, I guess it's just about unsurpassable .......... especially with boy racers next to me at the traffic lights that never manage to outpace me ever ( if I'm in the mood ) Malc
  20. ..... ever since I saw the car supplied jack buckling under the strain of changing a wheel on my Mk1 many years ago I leave wheel changing to the RAC or the garage ! Malc
  21. .... Baz's piccys ar a bit " of the mark " methinks ........ not photographed to sell Malc
  22. Forum section .... " Ls430 possible bargain or not " ....... last comment Malc
