  1. not sure why there's a V8 sign on the grille tho ! bit odd ...... otherwise it don't look too bad and if it's any good then the price " is right " Malc
  2. .......... and another sleepful night passes with no alarm going off ....................... and the temp was down to minus 4 last night here so I guess it's all ok ???? Malc
  3. ......... find it hard to believe your year 2000 car has any corrosion at all ! ... well nothing that needs to be treated Malc
  4. ...... mine's never been done to my knowledge, 182k miles and 20 years old ! ............ and I've never heard of this part failing tbh Malc
  5. .. I'm amazed it needs changing in any respect tbh Malc
  6. ........ thanks for that, the cd multi-changer is in the faux glove box in the inside of the car in the Mk3 Malc
  7. ... hi. I remember the plugs I used in my Mk1 and Mk2 Ls400s were " standard " plugs and lasted 60k miles before changing........... OEM Malc
  8. .. the battery is Toyota/Lexus specifically for the Mk3 Malc
  9. ..... all ok last night too ............... and still about zero'ish temp. and a little breezy BUT remembering about 2.30 am the first morning a fishing boat was rumbling away just as it was leaving the quayside on the high tide ...... I do wonder if it was really some marine radio wavelength or whatever that caused the activity with my alarm ........ ? Malc
  10. ........ my business partner in Delhi calls it my " tarzan " car Malc
  11. ......... maybe it's a bit premature this morning BUT it's deathly quiet and weather etc hasn't changed much from last night ! Malc
  12. ............ I've only ever needed to poke through something long and thin and flexible a short distance before the free flowing water dislodges the rest .... works fine every time Malc
  13. ..... I'll get it checked out as soon as ......... this cold sure is getting into my bones too .......... Thanks for all your thoughts Malc
  14. ............ new Lexus/Toyota battery April 2012 ............. might be I s'pose BUT it started without a murmur this morning even after the constant alarm bells ringing half the night !!! Malc
  15. OK guys, here we go again. Been silent for about a year now I guess but last night, cold ( about zero'ish ) and a light northwesterly breeze, the sodding alarm just kept activating ............... Nothing metal in the glove box or centre console, I unlocked it, re-locked it, opened a window too ............... opened and closed doors, whatever, the damn alarm just kept activating !!! I know there's no solution really ! Just a thought ............ . I live on the Town Quay by the creek and boats going up and down on the high tides ...... wonder if it's some sort of marine VHF stuff that's interrupting my car alarm's sleep pattern ( like it is mine ) Any thoughts ? Malc
  16. ........... so 14000 miles ago some poor bugger became even poorer to the tune of £4k, WOW, lucky you buying the car with all that nonsense out of the way. Well done Malc
  17. Cruisermark ............. well, I don't know !. All I do know is that when ACLex replaced the suspension stuff he had to re-use the old springs which he had stored before he did the conversion and one was cracked and it cost him ( he was the parts manager at Lexus Poole ) £100+ for one new spring. So I had just assumed ( probably wrongly ) that conventional springs weren't the order of the day for DHP Malc
  18. I bought my car with the option of retaining the DHP stuff and decided to have the car supplied to me reverted back to original. You might be able to find some stuff on here somewhere about this from when I bought the car from ACLex on here in June 2011 There are pictures on here to of both styles for my actual car. The suspension set-up was totally different for both, DHP didn't have conventional springs for a start ! Malc
  19. those prices look just about the price one might pay at a Toyota/Lexus parts depot at a showroom, so why not just go there and get them ! you will then KNOW that they have been supplied for your car properly ( I would hope ! ) Malc
  20. ..... hahahaha ... it's to stop your children using your credit card to buy Lexus parts ................. kids security they call it Malc
  21. ... wiper blade rubbers from Toyota/Lexus might be your best source ! The rust stuff is probably total nonsense, it's just brownish surface colouring and no rust at all I bet Malc
  22. ..... John " too many dodgy ones " Well, with a 20 year old ( or even older ) car there isn't going to be one that's perfect unless you're amazingly lucky ................... the alternatives, well, any car of that age, unless it's a collectable, won't be in any better condition either ............. LOC Members problems could be that we expect such brilliance with our, now ageing, cars and quite frankly, in my simple view, there just isn't anything comparable out there for the quality, durability and comfort that we experience with our Lss' ............. and at such silly low money too. Almost any other car, if not all other cars, of our " vintages " will require inordinate and unwarranted monies to keep them on the road and in good nick ! Just find another Ls eh ! you'll be happy when you do Malc
  23. Had a mate in the mid 70's with the Sceptre Mk2, recall it as being comfortable, fast, and I was jealous. Had a valve radio as I recall. I wonder, was the Sceptre Mk2 the huge Humber Sceptre, like the Imperial type one which models ceased production about F reg / 1968 ish, or the Hillman Minx sized one with the " new " Sceptre styling and luxury ? Malc
  24. ... I still occasionally listen to my tapes in my Mk3 Ls400 :outforcount: I have a great one, Richard Burton talking ............" Taming of the Shrew " ...........it's brilliant Malc
