  1. .... seeing his maybe max price of @£900 ........... not a lot less than what many of our cars are worth maybe Malc
  2. if my Mk3 was so well cared for I'd be afraid to ever use it again Malc
  3. ........... didn't know which of the Insurance threads to resurrect so here goes ............ LEXUS RENEWAL Markerstudy last year at £330'ish or so Fully Comprehensive and all ......... this company has stopped writing Lexus insurance, the price this year I'm told is about £2000 ... The substitute recommended by the Broker is Sabre at £443.48 .......... . and all of this with the max 9 years NCD HOWEVER MUCH I HATE SAGA ( see my troubles with them in 2012/13 rip-off time ) they have written fully comp cover with 12k miles at £268.68 One just has to shop around ..... I've pre-empted the renewal timing of 20th February coz I'm off to my back office in Delhi for a month next Monday 8th. Malc
  4. Scribe, I had exactly the same situation, the other party paid me cash to settle the cost of the damage after I advised insurers about a scrape with my Mazda ..... all settled, no claim but oh my ...... never an Indian Call Centre but at least half a dozen UK well spoken English call centre people over the last year trying to screw someone for " compensation " on my behalf Its a real pain tbh Malc
  5. on my Triumph Southern Cross classic car policy thru Swinton there is NO no claims discount ever earnt .......... so guess any claim will certainly increase your premium next time around. Malc
  6. wonder if the Ls400 wiper rubbers are still much less expensive ? Might find out this summer with a new MOT and the rubbers just scraping a little when the screen was really cold in those wind driven sub zero temperatures we had in Kent Malc
  7. just reading the Saga Insce blurb and vandalism with fully comprehensive insce does NOT affect one's No Claims Discount etc ........... just wondered if your insurance cover might be similar if you felt an insurance claim might be a way to go Malc
  8. ............ I remember this one now and I think I might have commented that having a respray doesn't give ( usually ) the enormous strength / depth of paintwork that Original paintwork gives with a Lexus Ls400 Malc
  9. ............. my car's on a private plate N7GNT and it shows up all the DVLA MOT stuff ...... I've just looked ! Malc
  10. .......... the problem is also that while the 15" and 16" wheels look identical they aren't, the number of spokes is I think one less on the 15" wheels I discovered this when someone on here asked for a spare and I had found a guy with two brand new ones but with very old tyres upon them and having seen them to compare with mine ( 1995 ) they had once spoke difference ! Malc
  11. ,,,,,,,,, just don't sell the Lexus, simple decision Malc
  12. ..... have you never tried it, yes of course it's possible,..... it's usual Malc
  13. looks to be a very fine early Mk3, thus Jan 1995 ........ but I prefer original wheels tbh Malc
  14. ,,,,,,,,,,, can you put a 50pence piece on top, on edge, and it won't fall over Malc
  15. ............strange, the gear knob looks extraordinarily worn for the miles and also, the seat buckle is in the slot possibly because when there's a driver in the car and it's chasing around the paddock doing wheelies the driver doesn't want to feel restricted or maybe, just maybe, there's a fault on the dash showing about seatbelt stuff is the aerial stuck up too ? The car looks to be in a paddock around Shepway area ( see the bins ) and that could be Folkestone or maybe Ashford areas...... admittedly on the way from Canterbury Why not just get the seller to have a fresh MOT on the car ......... from the Lexus/Toyota garage in Canterbury possibly, or at least the one they would use .......... you could phone them to find out which it is and suggest the appropriate MOT testing place I guess !! Good luck with it ......... I would offer to view but I think it's at least an hour from me each way and with the car the standing in the paddock, isn't something I would feel comfortable commenting on, seized brakes, rust etc and I don't know my Mk4s either at all, never having had one If I was buying it I would send my indy along from Margate to inspect it for me ... and of course have to pay for his time etc .................. sorry I can't be of more help Malc
  16. . ............. I can understand bushes being a problem but CORROSION of the steel, well that's never going to be an MOT failure surely !! Malc
  17. Jacques thank you ..... looks as though you are going to be a STAR if you're able to sort out replacement of otherwise unavailable suspension stuff Just simply a Ls400 lifesaver no less Malc
  18. .............. when I bought my new Toyota/Lexus battery in April 2012 the chap said 4 years guarantee but will probably last much longer ; I didn't see anywhere on the FLSH ............. anywhere at all, that a new battery had ever been supplied .................... is it possible the original battery had lasted 16.5 years ??? Malc
  19. Hope they've not been involved in any of the recent flooding ! Malc
  20. Steve thank you ...... the main bonnet lock ? ...... is this at the actual catch mechanism at the front by the grill you mean ? Thanks Malc
  21. ........... I temporarily had it disconnected before but sadly the fuse that covers this also covers the steering rack movement !! so I lost that too Malc
  22. .......... hahahahaha .... and there's me thinking the gold badges were at least 18ct .... well, it is a Lexus Malc
  23. when I had my Mk1 and Mk2 I was aware that the leads ( not on later models ) lasted about 180k miles before needing replacement Malc
