........ you were lucky, when I bought my new battery there in April 2012 they wanted to charge me loads extra for fitting, so I just enjoyed the coffee and bikkies while they found me my Mk3 battery off the shelf, then got my indy to fit it soon after ( I always worry about disconnecting and something electric freaking out on re-connection in these modern cars ) You must look more well-off than me, thinking you might get them to service your car maybe. I always look a bit " down and out " and totally impoverished ! ...... no perceived value in me for them I guess ... so I won't be ordering my brand new Ls600 just yet eh ! Malc

... read with interest, but he's in the States, guess I'd have to take the long route there, by sea and drive for that " instant fix " ........ I'm game, Malc

vandalism to car

.... punishment at court ............ rather impressed reading in the Delhi Times etc when I was there: It's usual for arrests of miscreants to occur after they have been apprehended by local people who have caught them, thoroughly thrashed them and THEN handed them over to the police for more formal justice It's a brilliant system of simple justice and quite acceptable and clearly OK Malc -

... if you're insured with Saga then I know for certain that a vandalism claim does NOT affect your No Claims Protection Bonus .... and they might repair the damage for free But only Saga I'd imagine does this Malc -
............ oh dear, the incentive is there for the repairer to instigate a simple collapse then, or to be simply careless in handling the issue, job creation springs to mind ...... as if !! Hope it sorts out soon, must be soooo frustrating, especially after so many years of more or less trouble free and inexpensive motoring ......... which we all usually enjoy. I suppose these issues arise so rarely with our Ls400s that repairers, no matter where from, just have zero experience of dealing with them. Malc ps my indy who now has experience of the Ls400 through me alone ( 8.5 years ), has told me quite bluntly that he has absolutely zero experience of dealing with the proposed 4th generation Honda Legend I propose getting late summer ( for the g/f ) ....... no surprises there really with only about 515 ever sold in the UK ! Not many Honda main dealers even have that experience either I'd surmise ... it must be rarer than the Ls400

........... the UCAs ( upper control arms / bushes and arms ) can be expensive if OEM or very cheap if Chinese crap which last about 3 weeks ! OEM last 150/160/200k + miles .................... depends on the driver I'd imagine and in between costs are well, up to you. OEM from Lexus are about £500 a side but simple job to do I replaced one of mine last year at 173k miles and cost £250 and hope it will last for many many years The cheapo ones are down to about £30 a side. That Mk3 with 85k miles I'd expect the UCAs to see another 85k miles looking at how well the car seems to have been looked after. Malc

...... it's a usual fact that the Mk3 seat heater fails, usually on the driver's side and it's quite an amazingly expensive job to replace that no-one usually bothers. The steering column issues are usually in the Mk4. the motors are different from the Mk3 The photos look very good and I would be down there like a shot if i was looking for a Mk3 Malc -

Don't be scared Mark ................ as i said, I would go4it if i was wanting a Mk3 ............ it's 21 years old and a slight play in anything, well, most cars are at the knackers yard by this time ................ looked after I think this young lady could last you another 21 years .... never known slight play in my steering rack, they really aren't known for any problems in this direction at all, might have been an over zealous MOT Tester ! Mine's done 184k miles and costs very little to keep in good form ( 60k miles with me over 5 years, and my 3rd Ls400 in 15 years of constant Ls400 motoring ) Malc -

............ looks a fine aspen green Mk3 ...... but it looks to be M reg 94 to end Feb 95 coz if it really is December 1995 it would be N reg ! ( see DVLA MOT checker ) Mine is so similar except mine's light grey seats ........... Looks a good car with low mileage and years and years ahead of it ( hopes ) . I would pay near that price if i wanted one like this. Malc -

James, what an inauguration to this Forum, it's so sad you have this dreadful experience ...... however, having had this now, and perhaps to save many other unfortunate hapless future victims, I am sure we would all be grateful if you would take some positive action to tell the police of this racism etc and protect further innocents ! Messi, I didn't ............. I simply did a google search and this is one of the things that came up on page ONE .... for all the world to see, not just me, and you, but every other living soul on this earth I find it very offensive too that this sort of dreadful thing is out there BUT it is, and doubtless every true Muslim should work towards getting this insidious referencing removed. If these words were uttered by this guy, screaming down the phone, presumably in anger and defiance, then doubtless it accentuates the belief that he really is someone that absolutely no-one should be dealing with. ......... how about taking out a claim in the Small Claims Court for your losses. With his criminal history you just might get somewhere ! I don't know but maybe Citizens Advice Bureau might advise or a friendly solicitor, after all, the guy is a convicted criminal ( is he with this offence ? ) and the legal system should believe you i guess Malc -
....... I mentioned this before with Computer Wheel Alignment ............ ( is it the same thing ? Caster, Camber, Toe and computer pretty colours diagrammatic printout ) Treadmark Tyres at Canterbury Kent. Had it done twice now, the last in June 2015 after I had a new UCA fitted, total cost incl vat £34.95. The first time was when I bought the car when I knew it had to be done following re-instatement of ordinary set-up after coilovers and DHP style changed back to original......... you all know I bought the car off ACLex on here ..... June 2011 and about 126k miles I think The cost this second time around was less than the first from Treadmark, they have presumably depreciated the kit by now and feel they can charge a little less than others for an expert job. .......... and their staff do know how to use it properly. The first time the kit was brand new, very expensive and they had just the one skilled operative.......... I had to wait a few days for him to become available. So if in Canterbury and you need it done ! Malc

..... I haven't been to that event since about 1985 summat ? I used to live in Petts Wood, just up the road from there It's a bit out of my way now Does a 1995 Ls400 count for exhibiting then ? Malc
