  1. .... my Nationwide FlexPlus current account covers european wide breakdown cover too ! Malc
  2. .... and when it dips into the 6000 revs red zone you're really exhilarated right ?? Malc
  3. ........ Stuart, I read somewhere on here a while ago now that one gets better fuel economy by driving permanently in " power " mode ...... the car certainly drives with a little more passion when it's on " power " ... and a good " kick down " from time to time exhilarates the car, not just me, and makes me feel great driving this amazing V8 with the purr of a pussycat ............... to the amazement of other road users seeing this 21 year old veteran whizzing past all and sundry. Malc
  4. ....... MOT advisories, again the spring corrosion is very likely discolouration ........... they don't corrode, they just snap when they are ready to, if ever ... they don't just rust through to a point of failure ... not at 180k miles at least ! and the rest, well, it's not the first year on the same other advisory Looks a bit of a bargain to me ! Malc
  5. ............ what's this piccy from ? Rev Counter is reversed from the Speedo ! as is all else ( or is it somehow a mirror image ) or does left hand drive car have stuff this way around ? Malc
  6. ............... oh dear, the depths some people stoop, to sell a car ! Malc
  7. ........... looks quite amazing value at £800 ........ bet it's sold now ! Less than the price of a day's shooting on his estate maybe Malc
  8. ..... is the private plate on the Ls430 nothing but an Irish import I wonder ! Malc
  9. ...... the pictures there aren't of the same registration number car ! Malc
  10. ah, sorry, didn't see it's an RX 300 you're talking about ....... maybe they are just rust buckets Malc
  11. .............. I bet it's not corrosion at all, it's surface, rust coloured water discoloration of the original surface ............ at most ! Corrosion is an absolutely different thing so far as MOT failures are concerned ... has anyone ever heard of any Ls400 being scrapped or failed an MOT from corrosion ? It upsets me when a new MOT tester try's to impress but singularly fails to do so, just showing he's totally ignorant of reality ( rant over ) Malc
  12. ..... don't forget also the Ls430 could have non-stainless steel exhaust corrosion issues and also the potential for window delamination ..... these are avoided in the Ls400 Malc
  13. .. and possibly only 50% of the money you're looking at spending on the Ls430 above Malc
  14. MOT today, no advisories, brilliant. I had really expected the offside UCA to need replacing at 184,252 miles after the n/s UCA last year at 173,994 ( miles not £££s ) Relief reigns Malc
  15. . ......... air filter clean and good ? Malc
  16. .... somewhere on here is my thread from a year or two ago when I had a catastrophic power steering pipe network collapse and I explained there how absolutely all that complex pipework down to the cooler pipework in front of the radiator ( now copper tubing ) was replaced in quite simple flexi hose and clips Steve 2006 kindly showed an exploded diagram of the OEM network of steel pipework that Lexus wanted £££ two arms and two legs for ( as for the cooler pipes in front too ) Malc
  17. ....... I doubt classic car insurance would be available for a 18 year old car but hey, have a go ............ one of the downsides is that one generally cannot get No Claims Protection and another, glass cover isn't usually included I insure my 1932 Triumph Southern Cross Sports Tourer separately on specific classic car comprehensive cover as the above ............. and it's not a lot less ££££ cost than normal fully comp cover cost on my 1994 Mazda 323f ( below ) ! BUT I insure my other two cars fully comprehensive in the usual way, including the Lexus ( and the Mazda ) Malc
  18. ... but isn't his modus , that makes it different from an ordinary fix , that he obtains ORIGINAL Japanese caps as used in initial production Malc
  19. ............. maybe they spoof advertised it, just to get people looking generally ....... it worked !! Malc
  20. Hey, all us lucky owners ..... hahahahaha ............. probably NOT us though Lexus Cheltenham have a 34k P reg Ls400 at £10,000 ........... look at the cars for sale section if you dare Malc
  21. .. I rarely use my handbrake, relying on the inertia of being in P when it's stopped ....... unless I'm on a gradient then I might use it " just in case " Malc
  22. .. my annual service and MOT is this coming Wednesday................ fingers xd Malc
  23. ....... doesn't actually say how much it costs but intimates there is a cost as says you can pay for it at the roadside with the patrol guy ! Malc
  24. ..... in all the Breakdown stuff I have read ( Nationwide Flex Plus and RAC ) it says you have to have a serviceable spare to be assisted in this way they don't say they will offer to go buy / find you one in an emergency Malc
  25. .... I left notes twice asking if an owner would sell their car, the first a Ls400 that he wouldn't sell and the second the Mazda 323f (1994 ) that I then bought in Dec 2007 that will probably go to the breakers later this year sometime So it's not that unusual I guess Malc
