  1. Blake hi and welcome to this forum Several members on here have had early Ls400s, including me a long way back, and whilst I have no idea how to advise you I'm sure one or two members here will help where they can Good luck Malc
  2. she looks a peach, well done Malc
  3. and there we have it ..... my business would sure consider good marketing /promo to a non-customer, even in your terms a non-"live" customer if it thought there was the possibility of some good profitable business emerging .... at least to offset the overall Marketing costs ...... especially if my businesss was aware that such non-"live" person ( Steve ) was promoting my business on here ....... now, that might of course be difficult to monitor the Outcomes from that specific type of promo indeed, I'm surprised Steve wasn't sent an annual gift of something he would wish for ............. something relevant from theStores ( to keep the cost low ) ..... but Steve appreciative Wouldn't any business do something like that ?............ it's a failure of their Marketing people to appreciate the possible beneficial Outcomes from what Steve has been doing Wonder if Lexus Derby Marketing even bother to read these Forums .... rhetorical Q I'm thinking .......... of course they don't, why would anyone think they were that good at Marketing even ......... good professional Marketeers are worth their weight in, well, smarties at least Malc ...... ............ with his marketing hat on this evening, thinking about the day's outcomes of his own business with Google Promos and Outcomes
  4. and so Mike ................. tell us all about this phenomenon in your midst Malc
  5. me too ...... I forgot to mention I do have a convertible ...... a quite rare ....... 1932 Triumph Southern Cross Sports Tourer Malc
  6. I had an interminable issue with one tyre a couple of years or more back ..... a thorough " scrubbing " to remove the crap flaking rusting stuff etc by the tyre place sorted that wheel properly and it's only 2+ years later that the same tyre began to " leak " /// offside rear actually ...... could that be generally prone maybe ? or possibly the tyre now , it's the same one and been there for a few years but looks ok ...... of course not covered too many miles these past 2 years or so with covid and stuff Malc
  7. aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh ....... my desperately fed-up experience in a real life claims drama would send me a million miles from these guys It's not the premium you pay, nor the cover you think you get, it's the actual Claims Experience when the ******* hits the fan There are other Classic Car insurers out there and other members here might be able to guide you with their thoughts too Malc
  8. " Interminably Hard to Start " are the final words on the 2017 Invoice/works sheet he's showing on the piccys ... and that's AFTER the works have been done " Buyer Beware " .......... might not be overcome in Court coz he really is clearly stating there's a big issue for any purchaser That might be summat to do with why he still has the car ............. AND his overall reputation is possibly crap and he NEEDS to get some positive cashflow maybe Just a thought Malc
  9. when my first one " went " all I heard was a resounding clunk when i was up in the Italian Dolomites driving around ....... I obviously stopped and looked and couldn't find anything at all so thought maybe i had hit summat which I couldn't find ........... months later the car went in for it's MOT and it failed on that UCA alone .... but no clear evidence really of anything wrong ...... it just failed the " bar " test I'm thinking for the MOT ......... she drove impeccably as usual the whole time whatever was wrong with that UCA Malc
  10. there's zero labour charge for this function .. it's like repairing a puncture in effort and time ... maybe 10 mins, maybe a half hour ...... a competent tyre place will maybe charge you £15/20 ... but Lexus are saying min £100 effecively for a min half hour labour for a puncture repair .. what nonsense ........ tell 'em to " get real " As we are saying, most competent tyre places will now have " Hunter " equipment or equivalent and trained staff to operate it Malc
  11. mine's usually been about 30 mins or so .... depends on the initial computer results checking to see what, if anything needs adjusting ..... then on from there, no more time or perhaps a little time to do some adjustmets ........ initially green computer printout is ok or if some of it is red then those specifics needing adjustment Once I was overnight ( leaving the car ) coz the appropriate adjusters had totally seized and it was either wait for the penetrating oil to do it's job or pay out for a replacement summat or other at lots of £00's it seems at that time So I left the car and next day the effort to complete the task was minimal and the usual, then fee of about £40 was charged if my memory serves me ok I had regularly bought my tyres there too but hey, tyre purchases aren't that frequent Malc
  12. £150 seems a ridiculous price .. any Hunter equipped tyre place ( and that's most these days ) should be able to set it all up, even heating up bits and pieces, for a fraction of that price Malc
  13. and in times past there was absolutely no evidence of the horse drawn charabancs, coaches in times past of ever going " bang " and up in rages of fire and plumes of noxious smoke So do we abandon motorised vehicular mass transport and revert to delightful horse drawn carriages and the side issue of mass poo droppings to contend with ....... bring on Sanditon and Pride and Prejudice forever ............ in their day I would think the papers ran grand cimax'tic stories of death and destruction from such mass cariers going awry . trampling a child to death amongst horse rage Let's simply face this head-on ... mass transport has teething troubles and on-going issues to address ... so let's just bear with this all whilst the technological developing issues get sorted and life goes on happier than ever ......... moving people around safely ............... it will come I'm sure Malc
  14. STONE COLD CLASSICS LTD UNIT 9 NEPICAR PARK LONDON ROAD WROTHAM KENT TN15 7RR these were the guys advertising her on Car and Classic website for sale ..... so I guess so then Malc
  15. does one ever get a warranty with a 30 year young classic car ? Malc
  16. ............ she looks quite stunning ..... take care that the power steering rersevoir doesn't leak all over the alternator tho' ..... happened to me one night on the M20 ....... it's a common enough event and could just need replacing OEM seals for preventative maintenance .......... luckily the engine is non-interference so should the cambelt go you should be ok BUT of course preventative maintenance there too .. 60k ( back then ) or 100k miles / 10 years is the norm for cambelt, waterpump and pulleys these days BUT I'm sure you've read all the stuff on here from some of us " oldies " that have been blessed with using a Ls400 for decades Really a stunning good useable everyday car that's more reliable than any other and will take you all over europe without a moments hesitation or fear .......... I know ....... I've done it in my Mk1 too all those years back ENJOY Malc
  17. My first one was J 54 DAP and looked very similar but was pearlescent white in colour ..... and 15" wheels and tyres ( and brakes to match ) .......... and the wheels have one slot less than the Mk2 car ( which I had too ) even tho' they otherwise look exactly the same A fabulous first Lexus for me back in the day ..... I had her at about 112k miles I think and used her as my main car, travelling Europe too, until she left me with 180k miles and gifted to the tyre purveyor who kept me in tyres locally to my used car sales business nr Ashford kent ..... to give to his dad who always wanted a Ls400 .... she's vanished now I believe Lovely good useable car in it's day for me ARE YOU keeping your one in " aspic " for show days only ? Malc
  18. Jacob hi, well done buying the best example of an early Ls400 surviving .... probably ....... hope so ........... I'm tinking many on here will not be instagram afficionados so could you post your piccys here too please ? Best wishes with her Malc
  19. when you wake up and smell the coffee and suddenly realise she's living down South and there's a possible replacement somewhere in Yorkshire or further North I've realised I'm never going to readily sell mine even tho' she's a little battered and beaten from nearly 239k miles of good honest toil and amazingly happy fantastic european and UK wide easy driving with lack of likely breakdown .... security and tremendous comfort all the way ........... your's might have been that contender for a replacement but Mike ? got there quickest and I'm always ultra ultra careful about putting my hand in my pocket just in case the moths flyaway You'll be back for another ( possibly ) Keep in touch on here whatever and Best wishes Malc
  20. and maybe they will continue long past this time too ........... do tell us when you get, or even search for another eh Malc
  21. and I'm sure Mike should be very pleased with his discerning purchase ..... is it you Mike that has bought it ? Malc
  22. seeing Autoraider ............. and save oneself between £20k and £40k in the process ...... seems a plan Malc
  23. ah of course now you mention it .... I remember that from old past times with " ordinary " cars of the era maybe hopefully that's all that's the simple issue with mine ! Malc
