  1. OMG so it does .................... but not mentioned in the Manual at all. Thank you so does " replace " mean " change " or " flush " ? Thoughts please Malc
  2. and does anybody know the Mk3 Ls400 recommendation ? I can't find it in my manual ! Malc
  3. ............ it's simply a lottery where you're making a donation to the coffers of a monster band of thieves protected by law ..... the Insurance Companies. Malc
  4. I've not yet found a car that gives me the luxury ( comparative ) and comfort and total lack of stress and backache whilst driving, than the Ls400. It's speed and acceleration when needed is quite sufficient, it's reliability is without any match at all and the costs of servicing and repairs is very minor compared to even a small cheapo run-around Ford or Vauxhall or whatever. Driving a Ls400 is always for me the " sensible " option. I have driven very many different cars, owned very many too as a used car sales emporium owner in the past and would berate BMW, AUDI, Rolls Royce, Bentley and Mercedes for having the audacity to promote their cars as anything other than potential moneypits and not really for the normal owner that simply wants the best car to drive ........... like old buggers such as me Malc
  5. and the price in the UK ? Malc
  6. back a hundred years then with Ford ! Malc
  7. I remember the AA and the RAC man on their motorbikes ( and sidecars ? ) saluting Members .... that was in the Lake District in the early '60s though ..... and they had their own specific " boxes " to which Members had a key if I remember .......... OMG I'm really old Has it changed ? Malc
  8. I flashed my lights at another Ls400 in Edenbridge the other day, the owner looked astonished ............. but smiled ....... bet she thought she had the last Ls400 in Kent ! Malc
  9. only if you believe Blair and Major ..............and their lights faded many a year past ........ I'm looking forward to a greater selection of cheaper and better Japanese cars from which to choose my next car ...... but it's got to last at least 30 years coz that's when my present Mk3 will maybe need recycling Malc
  10. Have u seen the Toyota Mirai technology ............ not a concept, it's real I guess ........ Hydrogen Cell all electric motor car ! Malc
  11. ............ come Brexit i guess we get back our full 240 volts .......... not the European 220 .............. .......... sorry ! Malc
  12. when I was very much younger and had 4 kids, 5 and under, I contemplated buying the only then available ( I think ) in the UK, 7 seater vehicle, the Citroen Safari Estate ( was it ? ) .... but I couldn't really afford it ...... it was cheaper buying and running two older cars then .......... mid to late 1970's i think. Not sure how on earth i managed to afford 4 young kids then either tbh..... ****, life was a struggle in those early days even though i seemed to earn good money. Malc
  13. hey, I have no superior knowledge at all ....... I just hadn't thought about USA cars with this post. my mind was all things classic Ls400 UK-wise Malc
  14. the personalised plate doesn't seem to relate to a current Lexus car ............ just done a DVLA MOT check Malc
  15. nope, it's a Mk3 for certain ....... no separate foglights below the orange lenses. Malc
  16. The Mk3 always looks " Classic " Malc
  17. scary likely bills on the Ls models apart from the Ls400 certainly puts me off changing ...... greater number of gizmos have a certain limited longevity and cost a fortune to remedy whereas we know that the Ls400 is luxurious simplicity that can go on for a million miles and enjoy " normal " limited cost maintenance and repairs during that lifetime. Bottomless pits aren't for me, the Ls400 now costs pennies by comparison and the annual maintenance, even if it matches the likely now capital cost is likely to be tiny compared to even just a couple of legs on the air suspension of a Ls600 Malc
  18. motorway miles at 10k a year will be effortless and comfy ............. the only trouble you're likely to get is from the roadworks, but then the comfort of the Ls and the cabin and drive will place you in a good mood whatever the tribulations of the Highways Agency Malc
  19. Mark I really don't know. It's what was told to me at the time ! Malc
  20. ................ yes you are right, it had been lowered with proper DHP suspension and wheels and tyres BUT it wasn't an original DHP car hence I wanted to buy it, but back to original and the owner from whom I bought it ( Andy Cross the then Parts Manager at Lexus Poole Dorset ) who had done the full conversion was happy to re-instate the car to original for me......... my previous two, a Mk1 and then my Mk2 were all original cars. It came with Full Lexus Service History and then done about 126k miles; now covered 191k miles and maintained by my local indy. It still looks quite a smart car but that near 200k miles has taken it's toll a little and it rarely looks as pristine as the day i bought it ( sadly )....... June 2011 at £1400. But nonetheless it's still a very fine car and I can't see me wanting to change it anytime soon .......... certainly don't see " upgrading " being on offer from anywhere tbh Malc
  21. probably coz the exhaust Advisory actually needs doing now and it has certainly done some miles over the last two years and maybe it's just time for the owner to be shot of it before other issues arise ........ like the front UCAs are just about due i would think together with rear suspension issues coz they weren't advised before on the MOTs and as I said, the last two years have seen big distances covered with this owner. I would want a new independent MOT if i was thinking to buy this one Malc
  22. these do seem amazing cars but i would personally steer clear of an older car Japanese import ............ since the radioactive fallout issues.............. just might turn out to be a slightly infected car maybe at some point down the line. Just my own personal fears i guess BUT it would keep me awake at night. Malc
