  1. I raised another thread on this a little while ago ( this year ) and mine still doesn't work .............. properly. There is no known simple fix, just accept it or change the whole dash for a replacement one ( that fully works ). It's not an MOT issue, a non working rev counter, it's just irritating that after all these years it's never showing the correct revs ( I guess ) if it shows any at all ! So frustrating Malc
  2. seems as though we'll just have to abide by the rules and speed limits all of the time ! Malc
  3. excellent result, well done Malc
  4. Average Speed cameras then, but in the UK one is given warning that they are there and usually not for 5 mile lengths. Do the Holland and Belgium ones come with a warning that they are there ? Malc
  5. well done, I'm so pleased the aerial isn't " stuck up " ...... nice car then, last you forever I guess Malc
  6. I guess those yellow spots are in the lane that tells you not to use ( big RED X ) because there's a real problem along that lane somewhere. So if some dopey bugger decides to go that lane and causes a smash-up with a broken down car then well, they deserve a sodding great fine Malc
  7. by the way, you'ere a lucky guy finding the last ever sales promo book about your car. Well done Malc
  8. and after 22 years and 193k miles mine certainly doesn't need one ( fingers xd ) ....... I'd have thought 10 years isn't great longevity tbh BUT of course it's likely only Lexus would replace free of charge Malc
  9. Dav hi, have you ever thought of a Ls400 ? old but as sharp as a needle for acceleration and speed when you want it, wafting around for sure, supreme comfort and longevity, very reliable and very few bills if you get the right one......................... and a quarter of your budget probably Malc
  10. and it looks as if the aerial might be stuck up ! Malc
  11. Had you ever driven one you would know the supreme comfort of the ride, the power in reserve at a sedate 105mph and the quietness of the ride. You probably wouldn't be in your ISs' at all, you'd still be driving your Ls400 One can grow old gracefully and disgracefully owning and driving a Ls400 Malc
  12. not really relevant I guess BUT was quite horrified at some of the near misses whilst being driven in Australia and errant kangaroos jumping across the roads ! Malc
  13. looks really good, well done ....... I see you still have the lower front spoiler, that's good too .......... had mine ( in bits ) removed after many a kerb banging Malc
  14. Denis, may I just ask. Do you intend doing all the replacement work yourself or are you going the sensible route and having a competent mechanic do the work ? Malc
  15. I hate to say this guys but after many years of doing all the forum suggestions the old lady still, very occasionally, has a mind of its own and bursts forth with alarm noises ........... but she settles down easier than before, or maybe she realises that " going off " doesn't irritate me as much as it used to and I just accept it ! Malc
  16. I have no idea which, if any, Lexus Dealers are selling cambelt kits on-line nor indeed which businesses generally are selling cambelt kits for the Ls400 nor of those selling individually the items that you would need if you weren't to just buy a " kit " Malc
  17. many parts fit different cars from different manufacturers and many parts are quite ageless in fitting different cars. Recently had a Recall on my 1994 Mazda, the ignition switch could be dangerously faulty, the same ignition switch fitted on many different and much more recent cars and over many Marques Malc
  18. Original Equipment Manufacturer .... often car producers may have several suppliers for the same piece Malc
  19. Blimey, I've just extracted this from the above reference: Vehicles that are too old to be given a vignette (including cars registered before 1997) are already banned from being driven in Paris between 8am on 8pm on weekdays. Malc
  20. reading posts on here over times past reveals that Aisin could be the preferred make of waterpump,............... the others i don't know. I've not replaced one yet. I don't know what OEM is either. It's quite likely that others on here can help, or further research on the forum, might reveal more of what you would wish to know and understand. Maybe just ask the seller what make it is and if it's Aisin then you've WON without further research Malc
  21. well, there we are ........ yes i would specify the make and style of electric sockets ..... such varying qualities. Likewise i would want to now the best water pump availability. My indy always talks me through the options on spares to be used on my cars, recommending this or that option. Malc
  22. back to basics .... wouldn't you want to know the make of the water pump ? I understand there are several out there but Aisin is the one to have I understand And if that's so then there's a reason ( which i don't know ) why the others might be inferior ! Malc
  23. ITALY ..... take care driving between November and April ( some statutory dates I think ) certain roads, which you won't know which they are until you're on them, obligatory winter tyres or snow chains ............. and an instant fine in not complying. FRANCE ..........just read Sunday Times piece for obligatory Govt issued Emissions Disc data for your car ? when driving in Paris, Lyon and Grenoble ..... can be bought on line for @£4 but takes 6 weeks to deliver BUT the fine is up to £117 for non display Malc
  24. I explored this issue a little in 2011 ( I can't remember why ) even though I had a full printout of my FLSH when i bought the car personally from the Parts Manager at Lexus Poole. I guess he had obtained the computer records easily at that time. NOW, if my memory serves me well, the records were kept centrally on the computer at Lexus HQ in the UK somewhere at that time. The local Dealer was just the conduit for getting the data. How and if they keep that data for a 20 year old car, well, who would know ! Malc
  25. probably the same as mine, a slight hint of green in the silver ................ Aspen Green Malc
