  1. maybe it got confused in the translation from Japanese ! Malc
  2. the colour block above misrepresents the true Aspen Green in the " real " ..... or maybe after 22 years mine too has faded BUT I don't think so. Malc
  3. Aspen Green it is ............. almost silver but when you compare it to a silver one then clearly it isn't just a straight simple silver Malc
  4. Wheel refurbishment ............... I'm still waiting to have mine done .............. excluding the centre caps which I suspect are solid colour right through and I'm not having those painted ......... the wheels are to be firstly acid dipped and then finally powder coated and I'm told they should last 15 years............. given me a price of £250 all-up The centre caps would be £10 each extra BUT I've said they can match the powder coating colour to the centre cap colour anyway ! Local company in Sittingbourne Kent Malc
  5. hang on, I'll go wash mine again in the morning Malc
  6. lovely looking car, mine's aspen green too you'll be sad to see her go, shame you can't continue with her Malc I found it on an ebay search ok
  7. you shamed me into getting my car valeted today ................ but only £25 AND he uses Aston Martin polish ( is that good i wonder ) Malc
  8. an Ls400 at 100k miles is quite unlikely to suffer any costs related to suspension/steering stuff woes, nor waterpump nor alternator nor steering box and if this is a Mk3 then the steering column motors are unlikely ever to need attention. The starter motor is quite invincible too if it was dealt with under the Lexus recall for that specific Mk3 component. At about 150/160k miles one might start to need replacement bits and bobs ! 16 years driving Mk1 and Mk2 and of that some 6.5 years driving my Mk3 now at 200k miles They seem to be very often rather more robust than the Ls430 and if a UK supplied car will not have that dreaded air suspension which might start to cause issues at 100k together with the radiator/gearbox specifics too Malc
  9. Lexus are a little late to the show tbh ....... a local main dealer to me ( can't remember the brand ) is offering £7000 scrappage Malc
  10. £950 blimey, it's a steal........ well done............... better than a lottery ticket ( usually ) One could happily spend a further couple of grand£££ on that car and not feel upset. She will last you for ever if you wanted I'm sure. Well done once again Malc
  11. looks brilliant, well done ...... will you tell us how much £££ Malc
  12. to the best of my knowledge my waterpump is original and had not been changed at either of the two previous cambelt changes............. my Full Lexus Service History doesn't show it anyway It is next due at 204500 miles ( 100k interval ) ( 4300 miles time, about 4 months ) and I will certainly have the waterpump changed then Malc
  13. we have found this with strategic bits of steel falling off high rise buildings in the UK ( London ) I know the builders have specified the correct materials and have been supplied by Chinese suppliers as meeting the specifications. The pieces just fall off, snap, and nearly kill pedestrians on the ground. Bought, specified and supplied as first quality steel products but manufactured as rubbish ............... many building companies no longer buy Chinese steel no matter the specifications, they just cannot be trusted. British steel is manufactured to the correct requirements but sadly there is little manufacturing capacity left in the UK Dumbing down is not good and can be incredibly dangerous Malc
  14. really not quite sure what all the fuss is about ........... it's quite well proven that whatever the miles on the Ls400, even several hundred thousands, you are probably going to be buying a really good car with many years of life ahead. If you want to keep your car in aspic and never use it to it's full advantage, and enjoy the pleasure it will give you, then by all means pay many many £000s and do that. But for me the joy is in using the darned thing ............... now exactly 200,000 miles, bought it at about 123k miles June 2011 at £1400 ....... minimal maintenance costs to date ........ she's BRILLIANT Malc
  15. I think that neither original wheels nor a Toyota battery ( shaped to fit the space in the Mk3 ) detracts from it's appeal very much when thinking to pay that ridiculous price Malc
  16. isn't this a reason why Toyota are thinking that Hydrogen Power will be their future for cars ............ the trial 80 taxis in London just on HP ( hahahahaha ..........not sauce nor batteries nor baked beans ( wind/fart power ) BUT hydrogen power ) Malc
  17. HPI check of course ? Check on the credentials of the garage check with the registered owner/keeper of the car that it is genuinely being sold get the garage to give you a Complimentary Warranty with whatever is a good warranty company If all the above stacks-up then you could be OK Malc
  18. well, just approaching 200k miles and sheer bliss still Malc
  19. just remembering a couple of years ago, and comments on here too, that the Govt was going to find a way to " fuel tax " LPG a little more .............. I suppose much like it will with electric charging ........... there's bound to be the inevitable " fuel tax " Malc
  20. at £160 an hour this is going to be the most expensive carpet analysis in the world ! Malc
  21. carpet bugs ........ moth eaten springs to mind ! ..... I have a spider living in my car ( it's so comfortable ) hope he/she doesn't eat my carpets Spiders are generally good news, they eat all sorts of bugs Malc
  22. well, just inspecting my Mk3 key fob and there is no screw to undo, it probably just pulls apart from the top area where there's an indentation in the plastic ( looks like it anyway ) The key is separate from the actual remote fob. The Honda Legend however does have a tiny ( watchmakers type ) screw with a tiny tiny head to undo. The key shaft is in the fob itslef ........ the screw might bugger up if not dealt with amazingly tenderly .... not for my fat fingers then eh Malc
