Insurance costs
Malc replied to sorcerer's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
I've just read on the yahoo finance news that insurance quotes are often reviewed with your email account too............ a Hotmail account ADDS £36.41 or summat to your pricing Malc -
Anyone know this car
Malc replied to emjay82's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
you mean it gets to the ATM very regularly to empty your account Malc -
Not sure if this might help ............ there was a member on here a year or so back who had a major VVTi engine issue ( engine replaced maybe ? ) Find that post and that might lead somewhere ....... Malc

I know satisfaction with what one has is often key to " contentment " ...... my indy scares me with tales of customers costs repairing Mercs and BMWs.......... and the £2500 for the parts alone for a Bentley S3 brakes overhaul ( plus labour ) ............ keeps telling me not to be daft and to keep the Lexus ... it really costs me next to nothing to keep on the road year after year after year ........... and doesn't expect that to change very much for the future tbh. Absolutely endorse your remarks here ............... just saying last night coming home from relatives and a meal out in Maidstone ........... isn't my Ls so smooth and comfy, powerful and easy .................. for the short 15 mile journey home at 11pm and at +1c outside temp. ............... with what other car would I get such simple straightforward pleasure and security, all round ............. certainly not this daft notion of mine to buy a 1960's Bentley S3 that i have often, now and again, thought to buy.... ( I must let that rest eh ! ) Is there really a car out there to " beat " the Ls I wonder Malc

beige LS400 seats
Malc replied to JohnDavis's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
if it's just the seats cracking and not yet torn or ripped then a simple visit to a general upholsterer will see him/her treat the leather with some proper simple feed and they should then be " restored " a little and maybe quite serviceable for another 10 or 20 years My nephew who looks after my 1932 classic car and his gun cases and other leather stuff just wiped into my front seats some simple feed and it works wonders Malc -
and I've just read the RAC review for the 2005/2012 GS300 and it says " over 500 ltrs " ............ wow. well done, you can take your stuff too now How did I get that first post so wrong ! I know i did read a review on the GS300 from somewhere ........... the problem is I read too much and believe what i read Malc

ls400 timing belt price
Malc replied to ste42's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
I'll let you know what I'm going to be charged for the Gates kit when my indy orders it up, probably in a few weeks time when he has my car when I'm in India malc -
- Exhaust Overhaul - 01/08/16. Upgraded to Stainless Steel Exhaust Pipes - still discreetly hidden as they were originally, gives a nice v8 sound, not too loud. Just noticed this on the sales blurb ........... bit odd, doesn't the Mk4 Ls400 have a stainless steel exhaust as OEM ? Maybe all is not as it might seem with this advert Malc

it is usually just that " O " ring I understand and catch it quick and you will save the alternator ok. The other issue that I had, and this really is an age related issue with steel corrosion ............was the pas cooler pipe running in front of the radiator length was also badly corroded and that can be replaced with a length of the appropriate copper tube at about £3 ........ BUT also the steel pipework that the cooler pipe attaches too was the actual culprit with my leak and that very complex ( and i guess expensive ) set-up was replaced with appropriate clips and bendy hose lengths .......... all round a comparatively modest cost if it hadn't been for the necessary Recovery truck to get my car to my indy. for repair. .......... about £100 for each .......... the recovery truck and the repair. see my prior post, something like " catastrophic power steering leak " somewhere on here Good luck with it whatever Malc

so Field and Harvest mice and rare Sussex squirrels are protected species as are their habitat. Now you have owned up to the residency you have to under EU law ( Article 27 sub para 32 2013 ) retain and maintain the habitat for ever or until you find them a better alternative ............. like a Rolls Royce engine bay ........ hahahahaha I jest ( or do I ) Malc

well done and welcome ................. Full Lexus Service History maybe ?? Malc

male or female ? Malc

hahahahaha ............... She can be very endearing, passive and quiet, unassuming, a bit " long in the tooth " so to say........... but He is a wolf in sheep's clothing ................ still a legendary fast and very quick car, a boy racer if you wanted............... that very few understand .............. who aren't Ls400 owners Not sure about the other models in the Lexus range though, perhaps they fit a particular mould rather better Malc

Cheap LS
Malc replied to Z28DUNC's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
maybe referring to the drain holes at each corner of the sunroof when open ? these often get full of crap over the years and overflow sometimes into the car itself and cause damp issues BUT can easily be simply poked through with a length of strimmer cord or such like ............ usually clears it ok Malc -
Cheap LS

ok, the heated seats won't ever get fixed and I bet ALL Mk3s front driver's seats don't heat ........... the bonnet struts cost peanuts to replace boot seal is peanuts too a spare wheel and tyre costs about £50 delivered my waterpump is at 203k miles and it's NEVER been changed ( yet ) a fresh MOT will show if the brakes are ok or not ! are you being a little picky maybe ! I'm not insulting you at all, just thinking aloud that a good Mk3 probably doesn't get much better than this with just pennies to spend to get it " right " Just my thoughts on this 22 year old car. Don't lose it for the sake of a tiny amount of extra ££££ cost is my suggestion ...... if everything else is relatively ok Malc
