  1. looks a lovely car .... can't help thinking I've noted that registration before somehow Really don't fathom how it could have had so much rust and suspension stuff wearing out in such few miles ................. good luck anyway, she looks a delight Malc
  2. rather than putting it into P try putting it into Neutral when that happens ...... then re-start It's quicker and you keep the momentum if you have any is this happening after a longish hot/warm run ? Malc
  3. Having had all of Mk1, 2 and now 3 I think the Mk3 is really the better car ......... nice to know $$$$bns has been spent on me by someone Malc
  4. Blimey, see this MOT history looks good too ......... Malc https://www.gumtree.com/p/lexus/lexus-ls-600h-hybrid-long-wheel-base-satnav-sunroof-leather-seats-full-history-not-merc-golf-prius/1285624473
  5. thought the price on the forecourt was nearer £110k isn't the Ls460 about £78k ? Malc
  6. lost for words, speechless .... WOW what a machine ................ well done Malc
  7. wow, well done . that first owner sure must have bitten a very deep depreciation bullet But lucky you eh ! Pictures please Malc
  8. my indy mechanic takes my cars to his local MOT station and stays there with the car during the process. He can immediately fix anything that is easy to do there and then or take it back to his garage and do the repair and return in the x days allowed for a free re-test. I get charged the full £55 which includes my indy's time with the car at the actual MOT. My cars sometimes fail, usually Pass and if likely Advisories, he can actually argue the toss with the Tester at the time........ but whatever, he can see exactly what the issues are and the needs for the next MOT ............. or before. It suits me well........ and I have my full trust in him ....... now the 11th year. Malc
  9. ok, wonder if it will need the compulsory KwikFit new ....................... tyres, brakes and exhaust or just some of them ! ........ sorry I'm a bit of a cynic with these guys Malc
  10. as a comparison maybe ................. a local company to me in Kent which i shall be using sometime this year ........ quoted me £250 all-up to acid dip and powder coat finish my 4 wheels and to the colour match of the Lexus ( coloured plastic ? ) inserts/caps ................ that's them removing and re-instating the tyres etc and having the car overnight ....... for a proper job ..... and suggested they would probably last 15 years before needing re-doing. They said they have been in business doing this stuff for 7 years ( I think ) ! And they had a few quite expensive cars in the workshop having wheels refurbished Malc
  11. careful and wise use of a smartphone is good and many apps are a godsend quite frankly .................... especially whatsapp now in it's ??? year with me and an absolute boon for my global business and communications .................. couldn't be without it I'm afraid ........ no iphone means no business Malc
  12. looks brilliant ............. so how much ££££££££ ? .... courtesy car too ? Malc
  13. maybe the alternative to a full respray or wrap could be to consider having the existing " detailed " professionally ..... might bring the existing up like new but of course it won't satisfy your need for a complete colour change ! ............ which involves lots of challenging places to get to too ...... inside the bulkhead, boot areas, door stops etc. ..... it ain't gonna be inexpensive that's for sure Malc
  14. Let's not forget that even with a comprehensive Lexus Warranty that Lifetime Warranty claims fail when the car is @100k miles old .......... and there's no reason to suppose that the gearbox would be warranted after that milestone .............. one would expect maybe 500k miles BUT without an oil change ? well, who knows. I've read of other components of Members not being covered, say air suspension for instance having reached 100k miles ............. their lifetime I guess Just my thoughts Malc
  15. Steve, can you tell us what the new Agreed Value might be ? Thanks Malc
  16. I was just asking Opie Oils about a rare Diff oil for my Honda Legend ( yes I have one too ) and they mention there, on their website, about the dopey " sealed for life " syndrome Malc
  17. does this Tyreweld stuff and such like make a future tyre puncture non- repairable after it's treatment ? I thought I might have read that somewhere .......... or maybe not Malc
  18. I know not of these tyres BUT I have Maxxis on mine, same size tyres ( I'm told not many manufacturers of this specific size these days ) and they work well for me and cost sub £100 a corner all-up Treadmark Tyres in Canterbury I use. Malc
  19. I would try another tyre on the rim and see what happens to that first ! Malc
  20. Thanks for that, my Mk1 is long gone BUT my Mk3, the current beauty, has a wobbly rev counter now .... sometimes it works fine, other days it's haywire ............ my indy tells me that the unit needs replacing, the bouncyness is caused by old age affecting the solder ? joints in the gubbins of the unit and on a hot day it might work fine but on a cold day the bits inside ( whatever they are ) are a little too far apart to function as it might when 23 years younger. You must know the feeling, not everything works as it might have in times past . old age you know. Replacement unit from Lexus is approaching some £3000 they tell me .... a Mk3 secondhand unit might work ok for now BUT for the future, well who knows. I can live with it and it's idiosyncracies Malc
  21. nothing like grey .............. it's actually a very light tinge of green in the silver ................ Malc
  22. last MOTs show 27k miles but also has quite scabby wheels ............... immaculate or wot ! Malc
  23. quite nice looking externally in Aspen Green ................ but please don't think all Ls400 Mk3 owners are screwball ..... I'd only want £8500 for mine with a derisory 203k miles on it Malc
