  1. I use my Ls400 every day ............. about 10/15k miles a year if i take it on holiday touring Europe ! Malc
  2. Seems a bit odd to me that the car was running well prior to the cambelt change ............. did you have the belt changed by a good mechanic ok ? I've just had mine changed and the old belt which had been replaced at Lexus in 2007 had been put on one tooth out of true and the ECU had re-adjusted to make the car run very well for 11 years/101k miles ..... Now the belt is spot on with alignment it runs even better than before ........... just check again maybe on the guy who replaced the belt. 😐 Malc
  3. Darren, it's just a normal 2009 Ls460 and this one is a left hander and just happens to have AWD There's believed to be just the single AWD Ls460 in the UK right now ( right hand drive I guess ) and belongs to a member on here Malc
  4. whatever, they will only ever fetch what they are worth to somebody else And most buyers are quite realistic when it comes to parting with the dosh Malc
  5. and when my Mk2 Ls400 was vandalised to write-off in 2011 I was just about to buy 4 new tyres ( Dunlop Z8s then I think ) and the petrol tank was needing about 85 of it's 85.1 ltrs ! . so an unfortunate but lucky £500 saved methinks The upshot for you is that you will have all the fun of finding that replacement ..................... the shock of the accident will hopefully soon disappear.   6. I wonder why calipers ever really need replacing and the huge cost involved. Mine have now covered 205k miles and apart from annual servicing of all necessary stuff, including attention to the calipers where needed, by my very competent indy mechanic, I have only ever needed replacement disks and pads and maybe the odd super attention to the moving parts of the calipers to keep them " right " Maybe this is something overlooked by many indy mechanics servicing cars generally ?. resulting in replacement !   8. maybe pop in to the local Lexus main dealer and order them there ? Malc
  9. in past times one could go on to a search for spare parts site(s) and breakers would input to you with their appropriate parts and prices Is there no such facility these days too ? Malc
  10. just been reading your AA link . It's been a few years since I did my big Grand Tours of Spain/Portugal/France/Switzerland and Italy it doesn't mention carrying a second warning triangle which might be compulsory in some countries also there's now no mention of the rip-off breathalyzer kit that one used to have in France ..... is that now defunct ? ............. and this age old thought to have to carry spare bulbs ............. how relevant is that today as Law in some countries ? Any ideas guys ? Thanks Malc
  11. why can't they simply ( well, it might take some effort ) repair the split ? I've had my Ls400 exhaust welded twice now in 7 yrs of ownership, about where you're problem lies I would think, about £30/40 a time...... but of course yours is a 430 Malc

  13. that might be euros 9950 with the dark under the curve of the price card ! many big road tax ROI cars are I understand a lot cheaper than in the UK Malc
  14. on the Ls400 forum I experienced the concensus ( I think ! ) and keep mine permanently in PWR and it is more economic on fuel ( they say ) and it does give it a little more ooomph whatever I personally can't tell if it's fuel economic coz i never measure the mpg these days ..... too old to worry about it tbh Malc
  15. permanent scrape on one of my door mirror casings from a narrowing of the road at a pinch point once for me ........... like above ........... can't remember if it was Italy. Spain or Portugal ... whatever, ............................it's not the vino Malc
  16. looks good ........... doesn't seem to have lasted very long from new compared to the experiences of other members, well me, with my exhaust longevity. Maybe the Mk4 exhausts weren't made of the same stuff as the earlier models Malc

  19. Maybe, we didn't investigate that I must admit, he tells me Gates make for Marque brands supplied too and he still rates Blueprint above Gates notwithstanding. Malc
  20. No, not the cambelt or pulleys or waterpump, nor the serpentine belt ..... these all came as Blueprint which he rates above Gates products. Cambelt and two pulleys was £134.32 . the third pulley was Lexus only BUT the existing could be adjusted ok ! and not replaced he tells me Waterpump was £126.94 Other belt was £36.30 so that's nearly £300 above parts only, then there's the coolant and oil and oil filter and air filter and wiper rubbers The plugs were last replaced 45 k miles ago ............... a long way to go again. And of course the MOT ....... the total of £850 to include all 10 hrs labour I thought was a good result tbh . incl welding that bit of the exhaust he repaired all those years back and dealing with a slow puncture in one tyre too. Saving a few squid with possible cheaper parts wasn't really on the cards as i do want at least that next 100k miles out of the old lady. Malc
  21. is it now that plugs have a 60k or maybe 100k miles lifespan and the age they are in situ, that makes them challenging to remove do you think ? everything seizes-up ! In olden times when plugs were changed every 12k miles or at each main service, and when a set of plugs cost about £2/10/6d, that it was an easy job to do . Just reflecting a little I'm afraid Malc maybe there's something to be said for just loosening and pushing back home, the plug leads, every year or so
