those 3 cars have been for sale on and off for years to my knowledge. I think the owners are keeping them until they become classics, if they aren't already, and clearly love them so much they can't bear to part with them There's simply a price and a value for everything and these 3 cars haven't yet found either level Malc

simply from what guys have said on here from times past and also my indy tells me that in his experience BMWs and Mercs are such money pits that he fears for his customers wallets. He KNOWS my Lexus are not such squeamish creatures and go thru' thick and thin for very little money ........... by comparison and in his experience over very many years. I've not had the benefit of BMWs or Mercs personally for very many years and have zero personal recent knowledge. Malc

Looks a brilliant car with a few age related issues my story with Matt the owner is that I emailed him offering to take his car on a Route 66 and return trip, maybe two years ago now He didn't bother to reply, either to my email or thru' the LOC ....... bit rude I thought, whatever so I went on my Grand Tour of Italy instead ( or somewhere ) Off to tour Ireland for a month from 4th September ............. expect to maybe travel 2/3000 miles door to door maybe ........... never been before apart from Dublin City for a half day visiting on a cruise around the UK. New Rear Springs
Malc replied to stericker's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
I think you might be ok just replacing the single broken one tbh When I bought my car from ACLex ( on here still ) some 86k miles ago ( now 209k ) when he returned the car to ordinary ( the original ) springs etc he found one had broken so just replaced that one ... and the Lexus price to him was @ £100 for that one spring. He was the Parts Mgr at Lexus Poole at the time. £500 seems a bit steep 😐 Malc -
red lamps eh ! I don't quite remember the 1890's with the chauffeur sometimes having to wave the red lamp in front of the car when moving off ... hedgehogs had an easier time of it all then no doubt ... handbrake squealing into the bends, doing wheelies ................. .............. lighten up ( forgive the pun ) even in MY dotage I can see that this convo is getting a little exasperating.............. for all you guys Malc

J128JKO new car to me, just seen it parked around the corner from me in Queenborough Kent .... WOW she looks a beauty, looks in stunning condition for it's 27 years young Beautiful example and the last MOT in February showed 223k miles ............... . haven't seen another Ls400 for absolutely ages. If the owner is on the LOC he/she should be proud .............. it must be one of the best Mk1's extant Malc

MOT time

I happily pay full MOT price, my indy mechanic takes it to the MOT tester and is there on-the-spot to fix tiny things ( say headlamp adjustment etc ) and to understand more fully if there's any impending issues for the next year ( and sees what the guy is talking about too ) . such as the other rear UCA will need changing for the next MOT ... the previous year the other side just failed, sadly it wasn't showing any wear the prior MOT year ! ............. and non-MOT failing rust on earlier cars ............ good to know the extent of potential Advisories emerging.... worth to me the extra £20 in paying the full MOT price Malc -
I first ventured to enquire about this from a local " good guy " about a year ago now and have held off since coz ....... well, I don't know, maybe spending £260 . is it worth it, well not really, BUT maybe after this next trip away ........... a month touring Ireland in September/October, say 2500/3000 miles, then maybe I shall . but by then I'll be saying, well, after the winter . and then we're back around to maybe a next big trip spring into Europe or summat ....... I don't know what i do know is I'm totally decisive about my indecision Malc

ah right, that's the nub of the matter then ..... I've always had a fantastic ride in the Ls400 seats, zero fatigue whatever the length of journey, from 2 mins to 5 hrs .. the back problems just disappear in our Ls400 seats. Buy it then .. you won't get a pain in the back nor a pain in the arse .... nor a pain in the neck ...... pain in the bank balance maybe BUT your back will be fine for your future journeying. I compare the Honda Legend and drivers seat comfort and it is no comparison to the Ls400............ Ls400 wins hands down ( or up ! ) Malc

stick with the Honda Accord methinks .................. decision made for you nice Ls400 but if the colours aren't right for you and also i don't like the pas leaking tbh . alternator might be suffering underneath coz of that ( same as the earlier models ? ) the Arnold Clark servicing is probably fine BUT I'd like to know more about the front suspension fix this February low miles 5k a year for 20 years might be the cause of undue wear on the suspension stuff maybe OR maybe it's an absolute gem of a car and you'll be a happy owner for years to come ..... just like you are now with the Honda BUT if you've that itch to scratch then maybe this Ls is a good one with which to scratch Good Luck whatever you choose to do Malc

when in the past the Honda main dealer serviced the Honda Legend they had these markings for various components at the service Nothing to do with the MOT though and they never pretended them to be either ! ............. just about service items for the car generally Seems to me that the MOT testing station, your service people, are maybe trying to pull the wool over people's eyes in pretending / insinuating that certain components are MOT related when clearly they are not. Is this a loosening of the MOT standards now enabling less scrupulous people to seek out more business ..... hafrauds rings a bell here from the past Malc
