Guys, my indy has confirmed the item ok, ...............thank you Shirish It's now ordered on line at £103.50 PLUS carriage at £51.20 for delivery by 10th / 11th November ( from Japan and not the UAE option ) The cheaper snail mail carriage at £20+ is estimated at about 60 days delivery Total cost will be the £154.70 above PLUS Customs Duty and if there's a post office fee that I recall reading about before on here Reckon total cost might be about £190 and some £100 less than the Lexus supplied part from my local dealer I'll keep you informed Thanks once again guys Malc

I've done exactly that this year so far on mine About £850 for the service and MOT with cambelt, pulleys, waterpump etc ..and ... 4 x new tyres .......... £1250 in all......... and now the rear o/s UCA and front drop links very soon ......... a few £00s but not quite sure how much yet . it's only money and where else can you spend so little on a brilliant car and KNOW that it's really worth it Malc

Timing Belt
Malc replied to jefflee's topic in Lexus GS 300 / Lexus GS 250 / Lexus GS 430 / Lexus GS 450h / Lexus GS 460 Club
. ........... it's about an 8 hour job and the waterpump should be done at the same time as that's an integral part of the 8 hours ! Also then the lost coolant replaced and serpentine belt to change too if it's old and a bit gnarled ............. I had mine all changed at this last service this year on 100k miles change but at 11 years .... cambelt looked fine on the surface Malc -
I remember long back on an Alfa Romeo the tyres had a habit of going out of round and caused problems like yours ........ we know the wheels aren't susceptible to causing that on the Lexus so maybe, just maybe it's one tyre ( or more ) that's not performing quite correctly ............... as mentioned before Malc

how old are the key fob batteries ? they fail gradually I yesterday bought a new key fob battery from Toolstation, they seem the best value right now Malc

these past 4 weeks since returning from Ireland I've been getting the above when going over specific brick ramped road sleeping policemen in Faversham ...... never happened before and never happens on tarmaced bumps and ramps . .......... weird i thought down to my indie today and it's a loose heat shield cover over a rear exhaust box .... all 6 fixings had finally worn out at 214k miles and it had just dropped on to the box ............ it just lifted off and in his skip now ....................... over engineered and not being replaced as not necessary .... silence returns 😊 He says the exhaust is still like new and will no doubt outlast the car ................. even tho that pesky mild steel bit he welds up every few years or so BUT brought forward ( ordering the parts now ) the replacement of the n/s rear UCA ( Advisory on last MOT ) as the new tyre that side is just showing a slight sign of undue comparative wear ........... and also the front short drop link bars ? ( about 8 inches long on each side ? ) as they are beginning to show / feel wear although not a MOT problem yet ................... his 6 ft crowbar is marvellous at distinguishing undue wear on the suspension stuff Malc

just thinking what a relief I still have my Mk3 ............. she's sure a brilliant car Just covered 4250 miles across to and around Ireland in a month .............. effortless calm considered armchair motoring ............. and the new Maxxis All Seasons tyres do certainly seem to make a big big difference to her Malc

at your peril ............. there's another guy with a SC430 ?? on here that's been quoted dopey stuff by these guys ?............ I would thoroughly suggest that you seek the views of another straightforward indy with some competence and no bias Malc

your car looks great ............... 18 years ago I had a 1995 saloon Saab, loved the car and thought I'd have it forever ............ then along came my first Ls400 .. and now on my third ............. the only problem I had with the Saab was at 60k miles was the waterpump developed a hairline crack ............... simple replacement I think and about £60 then. Lovely car ............. Malc

are you sure they just aren't silly little gremlins that really are not faults at all but simply electrical glitches that immediately clear themselves. with zero impact on performance or gearbox longevity.............. have you ever sought some professional guidance with this ? and i don't mean Lexus main stealer Malc

quite frankly I would take your car to an independent MOT station and an indy mechanic .............. from a recommendation from someone on here in your area. Lexus Bolton are probably taking you for a very expensive ride....... it's so unfair Malc

Front cig lighter
Malc replied to messi's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
on my Mk3 the n/s rear passenger door cigar lighter can be used at a stretch with whatever you have charging resting on the front passenger seat Malc -
if I remember correctly the Mk1s had 195......15 tyres surely a sound classic in the making, if not already and very very collectable Had the provenance been known by the vendor and advertised as such I feel this car would have made quite good money ....... I for one would possibly have bought it 😊 Malc
