quite interested in this, never seen it on this forum regarding the Mk4 Ls400 The older Mk3 has some issues and was seemingly a recall in the USA for the ECU but sadly not here in the UK Malc

all arrived today via Parcelforce ............ and photos to my indy indicates it's the correct part ( thank heavens ) and it's booked in for Monday 26th Nov. along with the front Drop Links to be replaced need to be a Samurai warrior to undo the very very secure packaging no change in the costs above .,,,,,,,,,,, just his labour to cover ..... and the Drop Link costs at £32 each aftermarket OR Lexus supplied at £156 each ( no guesses as to which I'm having ! ) Malc

can't imagine why tbh .......... that's never shown up as a potential problem to my knowledge Just be certain the cambelt, pulleys etc have been done by now ..... and maybe the waterpump too ( often at 10 years and/or 100k miles ) . it's a long long job and essential at some time maybe your car has had careful thoughtful owners and there's a really good service history too ?? could last you forever if well looked after. Good to find one that's a " keeper " ............... assuming it is Malc

Ok guys an update As you know i ordered the part on 1st November on line and all seemed ok It was posted on 8th. November ............. that took a week at the supplier 😢 Parcel delivered to the UK at Parcelforce Coventry on 11th November when ( same day ) it was presented to Customs for clearance etc It changed Tracking Number too, from Jap to UK Parcelforce Number . that's all ok, it automatically changed number then tracking it through and calling Parcelforce just now, it's cleared Customs and I will hear from my local delivery office where it could be tomorrow morning 15th. November ( 24 to 48 hrs from Customs clearance on the 12th. they say ! ) The Customs fees at 20% ?? well, say £30.27 PLUS Parcelforce handling fee of £12 total £42.27 So total cost seems to be ( when i get it in a few days time ) Cost of UCA £103.50 Jap delivery £51.20 Customs and Parcelforce £ 42.27 Total £ 196.97 an uplift of 90% on the part price but I still have to pay the £42.27 fees at the UK end and get delivery of the UCA ( fingers xd within a day or two now ) Malc good eh ! I was told UK supplied OEM Lexus part was £283 ( incl vat I guess ) so a saving of a likely £ 86 or 30%

Warning Lights

Don't panic . yet we sometimes have certain dash warning lights come on our 2006 SH-AWD Honda Legend .... never on my Ls400 .... and find that in all instances, after a while, a day or two, the lights go off and normality returns..... for quite some weeks or months . until the next time At first when the gearbox light came on we panicked and took it for diagnoses . couldn't find any issues then, a reset and the light went out ........... permanently. Methinks it's built-in scaremongering by the teccies building these cars .......... far too sensitive and quite likely nowt to worry about. especially if the lights go out again # Look at the AA and RAC TV adverts, a car breaks down, well, a dash light comes on and car at side of the road .. the marketing says we get 99% ? of breakdowns back up and running within 30 mins .... wonder if that's the time it takes to get to the " breakdown " and the 2 mins to reset the dash lights Malc -
Well that's a surprise

............ no amount of penny pinching and saving on fuel can compensate for the ludicrous capital costs of buying a new beast compared to our amazingly comfortable, reliable, fabulously fast and quick elderly beloved Ls's' Malc -
I've always abandoned my Mk3 Ls400 when ice and snow are on the ground ..... she has a mind of her own I've found ............. however I have just replaced all 4 tyres with Maxxis All Seasons and they certainly feel the grippiest tyres I've ever had on her ................. but I'll still probably just use the AWD Honda Legend we have when the snow and ice hit ... those rare few days down south BUT I remember reading of Ls400 owner (s ) on this forum with a base in Norway /Sweden/Iceland wherever and being very happy driving in snow and ice on the tyres he / they had Find those posts and you will possibly find the right and best winter tryres for our Ls400s Malc

Yousuf hi, ......... don't forget it's about an 8 hour job .. and the coolant will need changing too and you would probably replace the serpentine belt if it's old or worn Just had mine all done this year by my indy .. at 205k miles and 100k since the last change and 11 years ............. the old cambelt looked quite ok too Malc
