  1. I think you're about right there. Recently replaced rear UCAs from Amayama ( and one other ) and front UCAs too ( not yet delivered to the UK ) and two front aftermarket drop links ........ with the Customs duty and fees etc that's not far off a grand in total Good luck with it all Malc
  2. just checking my service history back and these are replacement rear UCAs for replaced one's at 110k miles by ACLex the prior owner. so they didn't last too well I guess, either the originals or his replacements which i would think must have been Lexus supplied parts I replaced the n/s rear UCA at 174k miles in 2015 at just 5 years and 64k miles old with a Lexus OEM part This second one, the rear o/s UCA now changed at 215k miles ........... and 105k miles and some 8 years on The front replacement UCAs are a bit of an on-going shipping issue from Amayama, now scheduled to get into UK Customs for clearance on 16th December ... must be getting clogged up in the Xmas rush .............. it's so frustrating being ordered 28th. November Malc
  3. amazing find to be sure ! BUT rather too low a mileage to have done it any good over 11 years ......... BUT then I did buy my Mk2 Ls400 with just 8542 miles at 13 years, and she was outstandingly amazing too with zero issues right until the end of her ................ as a write-off in 2011 so I'm hoping you will be absolutely fine too, after all, it is a Lexus ......... well done, lucky you Malc
  4. sorry to interrupt this, but in my old technology, ancient car ..........my iphone ( 4 ) just pops into the ashtray with the charger lead in the cigar lighter just in front of the gearknob, fits in a treat when the TomTom is needed ( rarely ) that takes it's place with the charge lead and my partner can still charge her phone ( iphone 6 ? ) in the rear door armrest cigar lighter holder .......... and that's either back door I guess modern cars don't have cigar lighters though ........ maybe Malc
  5. well, I'm reading that there's zero rights extending to the object being sold until all the money has cleared ............. what a leap of faith for some dopey purchaser methinks Unless one's buying it through a first class intermediary who's underwriting the deal then this is possibly just a scam to relieve one of some hard earnt dosh Malc
  6. Oh for the older technology eh ! ...... it wasn't that simple on my Mk3 for sure I didn't remember having a smaller key you mention on my 1992 Mk1 or 1994 Mk2 tbh Malc
  7. mine's lived right on the sea/beach/.town quay now for the 7.5 years I've had it, some 95k miles of it's 216k life .. it previously came from Bournemouth ( on the beach too maybe ! ) ............ and we all understand it's not just the timing belt , there's a few other issues like UCAs etc BUT it seems to keep going and I'm thinking it will last me at least another 10 years fingers xd Malc
  8. I had this for years going off without any obvious stuff in the armrest ,,,, solution from a member here was simply to turn down the alarm ,,,,, it's underneath the area by the cupholders next the armrest,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, peace now reigns. It solved the problem of the totally random, for no reason at all, sounding off Lexus Main Dealer wouldn't have a solution to the problem, it's not in the guidebooks ! it certainly wasn't a fault with the battery Malc had David told us what his problem was / is, we might have been able to give more free guidance after all we have had donkeys years of sorting out some of these niggling issues ....... especially with the Mk3
  9. if you're just fed up with the alarm going off willy nilly then there is a solution to that too .......... without disarming the alarm Malc
  10. I know there's a fuse in there somewhere ( under the bonnet ) to totally disarm the alarm...... and then you can just lock/unlock with the key in the door lock BUT will you invalidate your insurance too I wonder Malc
  11. sheer size and bulk .............. I balk at the intimidation I feel sat up against a mini clubman estate at the traffic lights .............. I'm positively tiny in my Ls400 Malc
  12. I don't think there's any option on that car to adjust the height for any reason at all . it comes as standard with conventional springs etc Malc
  13. have you tried Paul Frost ........ he breaks Las400s there's a link on here somewhere Malc
  14. must have had good reasons then for it's uprightness Malc
  15. I trust my indy totally and he has given me chapter and verse on this ( which i can't remember tbh ) and we use 10 or 15/40 semi-synthetic and have done for about 100k miles and it's fine now on 215k miles and serviced annually with the MOT used the same oil on my previous Ls400s too and now 18 years in the running . I now use Wilko oil and it's absolutely fine, made to the usual exacting standards I believe Malc
  16. if you've got the odd £30k lying around and need to spend it on a great car then why hesitate Malc
  17. but don't leave it too too long coz they do actually perish with age ............................ Malc
  18. my indy has always recommended, for older cars like mine, to use semi-synthetic Malc
  19. an exceptional car, well done I remember from quite a few years back that buying a brand new car in Australia was about double the UK price with all the Aus taxes ......... does that apply to a 12 year old import ? Malc
  20. new front UCAs ordered from Amayama just now at £ 358.66 incl carriage and delivery scheduled for 8th December but probably be about 2 weeks incl Customs clearance I'm expecting the total cost to be ................. parts cost £358.66 plus Customs at 20% plus Parcelforce @ 2 x £12 fees There wasn't an option i could find for having the parts delivered as a single package saving some costs I'll keep you updated on progress ....................from past experience fitting isn't too challenging and as mentioned the already replaced single Blueprint front UCA hasn't worked out with any longevity at all sadly The new rear UCA had Toyota impressed in the steel work so we know that's a genuine part Malc
  21. All done, new front pads and discs, new front drop links too ( one of them he had to remake as only the one sided now available ( he cut and weld ) and I've lost that 'k' lunk sound from the front Total bill £465 so I gave him £500 ( incl brakes cost etc ) fitting the new rear o/s UCA wasn't as troublesome as the n/s a couple of years back ............. but still a pitta of a job Now ordering ( or trying to ) the new Front UCAs .. both sides, from Amayama . about £500 all-up with Customs etc Malc so so pleased to be back in her, the Honda Legend really isn't my idea of a brilliant car compared to my Ls400
  22. ' park value ' really is as long as a piece of string this year I've spent £850 on new cambelt, pulleys etc, waterpump and aux belt, coolant , full service ( but not plugs ) and MOT £400 new tyres £200 new rear o/s UCA and £500 fitting it together with supply and fit new front pads and discs, new front drop links so £1950 this year ...... and I'm now ordering-up two new front UCAs . ... about £500 incl carriage and Customs etc from Amayama but fitting is a relatively simple job fortunately AND the value of my car on 215k miles is about Zilch ........ but what would I get for it, well, not a lot more tbh BUT value to me is quite immeasurable ..... another 10 years at least on comparatively expense free motoring and sublime, supreme comfort and power etc Malc
  23. washer bottle sensor ................ you maybe think it's not working coz it doesn't need filling up ........ I've only ever seen mine lit three times over 18 years, the capacity is enormous .. and I check it about thrice a year too Malc
