  1. hahahahaha ............. and at age 50 we all know we really can drive two cars at the same time one insurer even told me the magic age for lowest car insurance is mine 65 - 69 but I guess next year when I'm 70 they'll cane me for being too old we KNOW we just can't ever win this ridiculous battle on premiums Malc
  2. that's absolutely the point ........ you've usually got past the point of no return Malc
  3. so you bought the brilliant one you was speaking about prior ? Malc
  4. I think the answer is very probably a big fat NO The guy i spoke to which made me raise this in another post a week or so ago had indeed suffered the same fate with his earlier Ls430,............ he didn't notice any changes and it cost him a £3000 gearbox rebuild that he was lucky to be able to do Normally a replacement new box ............ or scrapping the car Malc
  5. The Maxxis Premitra HP5 is a Ultra High Performance Summer tyre designed to be fitted to Passenger Car Hey guys I've just picked this up on-line when I recently replaced all mine with Maxxis I went with the ( rare to find ) All Seasons tyres that cost me a tad short of £100 a corner all-up They grip amazingly well and seem a good replacement for the now non-existent 225/60/16 Falkens i had been using for years Malc
  6. Welcome to the LOC, there's a little info on here about keeping the Ls460 good and well ..............but don't forget to deal with the radiator issue before it's too long in the tooth . as you're keeping it a while Malc
  7. Warren Buffett CEO of Berkshire Hathaway aged 88 ............ has the second-highest amount given to charity ($30.80 billion) among the greatest philanthropists ............................. and clearly the insured drivers within his realm contribute to this so guys and gals, it might be the usual insurance rip-off BUT this really might be going to good causes Malc
  8. not on hedgehogs but on Saga .......... just renewed mine with them ( Saga ) and seeing a 10% increase in premium from last year I called and offered them to give me their best price rather than me chasing round getting quotes. After 15 mins and declining their first offer of just a 5% increase they settled on a 0.3% increase ( @ ) up from £328.28 to £330 dead BUT they said one reason for the increase was possibly the underwriters claims experience in the area recently ........... nothing to do with me being a 5 year established client with them ( and my Honda Legend too being covered with them ) AND I remembered whilst I was away for my month touring Ireland there was a drunk crashed into three cars just where I park my car usually ( in the road ) and wrote off two of those cars Thankfully not my neighbours Bentley nor his Audi Q7 SUV thingy nor his Jensen Interceptor that parks in the road too when it's out having an airing . so i can sometimes see where they might be coming from with the postcode lottery concept... oh and last year his Audi thingy was crunched parked out in the road in front of our properties too .......... so maybe being an innocent in all this doesn't help when you're being penalised by any insurer Heaven forbid if i actually ran over a hedgehog eh ! Malc
  9. wot !!! they only insure billionaire drivers over the age of 85 Malc
  10. and you've saved your car from some inevitability of irreparable damage and possible terminal write-off from when the gearbox could fail Money well spent i would suggest 👍 Malc
  11. ................. sad about your issues guys BUT hey it's wonderful to see so many new faces appearing at long last All these issues are relatively simple to resolve I'm sure ( but I know not how specifically ) and after 18 years of driving my Ls Mk1, then 2 and now 3 and for a couple of hundred thousand miles I can assure you all that these are just FABULOUS and RELIABLE cars to have and to cherish Long may all your and our problems be of some inconsequence and inexpensive to resolve Malc
  12. then there's the Q of a paint job to match ? £'00s maybe Malc
  13. seems to me like relatively inconsequent issues for a 16 year old car Just tart it up a little so it looks ok and ......................... ENJOY Malc
  14. oh yes, I remember now, it was probably a £200 fix plus a little labour Malc
  15. remind me please . why was it such a silly price ? Thanks Malc
  16. hahahahahahaha.............. I'm ruling out another one EVER ... on the basis that mine's going to maybe ' see me out ' and if it doesn't then maybe I'll buy myself another Ls of some description Malc one never knows what life's going to throw at you .......... all the best laid plans and all that !
  17. surely copious quantities of carrots or carrot juice will help ? isn't that meant to help bunnies see better in the dark ? you can tell when they haven't eaten enuf coz they get squashed Malc
  18. at this age I feel you should consider, very seriously, having the radiator pipework issue sorted . ...........see the other posts on this specifically Malc
  19. This is really good for you as an upcoming purchaser too. It really shows the guys looked after the car and cared for it. Many arguments here for buying this specific car I'd have thought. Could be one of the best for sale right now ..... maybe a fresh MOT as a condition of purchase ! . even if you pay for the MOT, great peace of mind Malc
  20. hey, if you're referring to me then I think you're being very unfair never have I said that about the Ls430 or any other car mentioned on here ............ I don't appreciate being criticised for summat I've not said or done Please keep a civil tongue when answering to my posts. 😐 Malc
  21. that's actually each corner i understand ! so at £2000 + £300 fare seems a lot better than before methinks Malc
  22. quite frankly this issue alone would persuade me to buy the car on offer as opposed to any other, pre face lift or not. NON air suspension must be such a rarity to find Malc
  23. Stu, fitting the new front UCAs and drop links has made the car drive so much better and firmer, everything seems a lot tighter, driving ' like new ' I would think. Absolutely zero wobble or vibration or steering issues at all ..... but then there weren't any before ............... and my indy also replaced the front disks and pads too at the same time He's very very good at what he does The laser re-alignment too makes zero difference to the handling of my car, I guess it just stops all that premature uneven tyre wear ........... and whatever else it remedies. I had a very good result, but only to be expected and follows many years and hundreds of thousands of miles of undoubted successful motoring in my Ls400s I'm a happy bunny Malc
  24. just for info, there is one out there Reading the Auto express 30th May - 5th June 2018 whiling away the time at Treadmark Tyres this week there's a centrefold piece about Prince Rainier's car collection in Monaco. Their wedding car from 2011 it seems, the car collection piccy only shows the front on end of the Lexus and nothing looks different from any other car I guess I think the Collection is open to the public to view, but not sure how often or when so when you're next having a short break in Monaco maybe take time out to go see Malc
  25. somewhere on here I read a few weeks ago that it's the mild steel washers the rust through initially and IF ONLY they had been stainless steel washers eh ! Malc ( not my car Roger )
