  1. just seen that the Co-Op have re=entered the car insurance market now ! My very first insurer some 50+ years ago and that was £25 then, an absolute fortune when the car cost me £5 .......... Malc
  2. Don't know if this info is of any use ................ Aldi, this week are having their limited edition stocks of the above kit for £5.99 Malc
  3. I often wondered about buying the Saab Griffin too .......... but the Ls400 has everything and more maybe ?? Malc
  4. mine was N 4 PRO regn ... doesn't exist now I guess ! Malc
  5. definitely not, my neighbours Bentley covers about 300 miles a year ......... not a patch on a Ls460 I'm sure
  6. my understanding is that ROI huge road tax regime for big engined cars is a driving factor in probable low pricing of these now quite old cars Malc
  7. mine went on my Mk1 about 12 years ago now, the car would have been 15 yrs old .............. cost me £6 at local factor who had one in stock so I suspect it fits other marques too Malc
  8. my indy welded the area there twice during my 7.5 years ownership , simple fix for him and about £40 a pop ..... if it's the same issue Malc
  9. then of course there's the issue of any subsequent accident repair work affecting the treated parts too .............. good luck with whatever you decide to do ☺️ Malc
  10. best wishes with it all ... whatever the outcome you might find that the engine and gearbox have a great life ( and maybe quite some value ££££ ) outside of it's present shell. But if the cambelt snaps on you ....... and the early one's don't cause catastrophic engine damage but the later one's do however ... I don't know what category your's is in tbh others on here might know ??? Malc
  11. I don't think we really quite appreciate just how brilliant the 'ride' is in our Ls400s Last evening being driven in the backseat of a well looked after, 28k miles Mobility Scheme provided Nissan 2 year old Qashqai ......... bnloody hell, a real bag of bones by comparison Lexus Ls quality is quite supreme ( as is my Honda Legend too might I add ) Malc
  12. can you not find Toyota manufactured replacement stuff instead ? I really haven't a clue if that's available or not but if it is I would think you have a better chance of longevity and being ' fit for purpose ' tbh Have you tried Amayama in Japan ? Malc
  13. buying a older Ls400 ( or any car at auction ) is a bit of a hit and miss affair I'd have thought without having your ' tame ' engineer giving it the once over and a test drive prior to buying sorry for your loss however ................ many or most Ls400's at this age have been scrapped i would think ........ the MOT is just that snapshot in time when the car has been presented to the Tester ..... who knows what a selling owner might do with the car immediately post MOT And the 'biggy ' had to be to ask when the cambelt and waterpump were last changed ..... and seeing the valid receipt for the work Best of luck with it all Malc
  14. I guess then that there's no point doing any other than the EXTREME treatment and then one should ask the simple Q, is it effective and how long does it last being effective. And the Q, is the outfit doing the work competent and trustworthy ............. and the next Q ............ why won't they guarantee their work for many many years .......... if it is all effective ............ or maybe they do Malc
  15. absolutely no idea about any of these products, nor the professional outfit / guys mode of application, sorry I can't help you there Malc
  16. oh dear, without Brexit and a Trade Agreement .................... hahahahahahaha ............... I jest I reckon it's about 20% VAT plus maybe a tenner or more ............ AND that's vat on the shipping costs too ............ now that is a rip-off for sure just going by my recent Amayama costs of HMRC vat and Duty AND Parcelforce £12 fee per package Malc
  17. are your pricing modules including HM Customs Duty and VAT too ? That can be a big number if it doesn't Malc
  18. I'm only raising the thought process ............. what sort of warranty do they give .............transferable to new owner and 15 years or more maybe ? Malc
  19. I still play and occasionally buy secondhand tapes ................ it's a brilliant alternative I find Malc
  20. seating position adjustment can make a huge difference too Malc
  21. on old and ancient cars like ours i do wonder how on earth further treatment for rust protection or conversion can be properly effective when the car has still got it's factory underside finish in place I'm guessing any warranty from the provider of the new treatment will have long expired before an owner finds any treated areas going " bad " What would I know though ..... just age and wisdom a little maybe Malc
  22. take care with where you travel and the specific local LEGAL need for winter tyres or chains in parts of Italy until maybe April sometime if I remember from my trip a few years ago ! Malc
  23. no hope of me ever changing my flat when I have one, physically just can't do it these days. 😐 The last time, a month or two back ( the third flat tyre in about 18 years i think ! ) and I just called the RAC, half hour later he arrived, used my spare, pumped it up a little from being a bit low pressure, changed the wheel and there i was, on my way .... all torqued up to perfection too I believe I don't understand why new cars these days don't come with a spare wheel and tyre, weight and cost saving by the manufacturer takes it to the extreme of stupidity methinks Malc
